I was in the mood to "escape" and Perfect Match took me on a fun reading getaway. Zoe May offers readers a light but entertaining story. I really appreciated her ability to take a simple premise - looking for the perfect mate - and expand it into a very thought provoking story. My mom used to say there's a peg for every hole, but sometimes you have to try several times, and ease it in just right. Ms May's heroine had to learn the lesson the hard way, and it was amusing and endearing. That's how I would describe the characters, human and endearing. I really enjoyed my time in the world of Perfect Match and I would definitely read more from it's talented writer.

I love the whole concept of this book, online dating.  Its the current craze at the minute so its nice to have this hilariously good take on it.
This book really opens your eyes to how love isn't just about a persons looks etc and it really makes you think outside your 'type'.
Sophia is really easy to get to know and you really just want her to finally find love and be happy.
The ending was brilliant and I was delighted to finish this book with a huge smile on my face.
You really must pick this up and read it as its so funny and light hearted.  I was laughing my head off throughout.
I think after reading this a lot of people will be inspire
ed to go on a journey of online dating and have fun and find their perfect match.

Brew a cuppa and enjoy Perfect Match. This story follows the main character Sophia as she navigates online dating, her friendships, and her work life in London. This was a really fun read! I love the evolution of the characters. The online dating premise was interesting and very novel idea. I will never look at Robert Pattinson the same way. I will definitely read more from this author. Thank you Netgalley and HQ Digital for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

As someone who spent a lot of time looking for Mr Right in London, who kissed a lot of frogs and went on a lot of awful dates I was really looking forward to this book and it didn't disappoint. A hilarious yet poignant look at finding love and the dawning realisation that you have to find yourself first. A wonderful debut!

Perfect Match was such a delight. Funny and unexpectedly insightful, this was the kind of romcom that’s perfect for when you need to escape the real world for a few hours and have a good laugh.

I’ll admit, I wasn’t quite sold when I first started reading. The beginning was a bit slow and didn’t hook me right away. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but was curious enough to keep reading. Sophia had a habit of finding minor flaws in a guy and not taking things further because there wasn’t an instant connection or she couldn’t get past his flaws. Basically she was looking for the perfect guy, and she thought she found him in mega-rich Robert Pattinson look-alike, Daniel...until she realized perfect isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and neither is having more money than sense.

I really enjoyed watching Sophia grow, learn, and come into her own. She had help along the way from her friends, who were great side characters, and through her own misadventures in dating, she began to learn things about herself, life, and love. I appreciated that she ultimately learned there’s no such thing as the perfect man...but there can be a man who’s perfect for her. I also appreciated the lesson that just because you don’t experience love at first sight or an instant connection with someone doesn’t mean that person isn’t right for you. Attraction can grow, and connections are made over time - and that applies to more than just romantic relationships. It’s actually a pretty fitting lesson, considering I wasn’t sure at first if this book would be a ‘perfect match’ for me, but I ended up loving it.

Going into this story I had an idea it would be a rom-com and based on the blurb it seemed like it would be an entertaining read. While it was entertaining and I enjoyed the supporting characters, I had a hard time connecting with Sofia, the main character.

I'm not sure if she was intentionally written to have a shallow personality or if she was meant to come off as funny, but I found her to be very judgemental. She seemed to pick apart people's flaws a lot and it started to make me wonder what was so special about HER? For example Chris's shirt stains and tendency to info dump. Sandra was described as this frumpy cat lady and then their boss Ted in ill fitting clothing with dandruff. Even Tom, Lyn's beloved son, was described in a less than flattering way with multiple hairy face moles and pudgy around the tummy. I almost wondered if these characters were purposely written that way to make Sofia seem great? In a nutshell, Sofia's personality felt superficial and a little blah, to me. By the time it got to the end when she had her revelation about Chris and went to go see him in the pub, I was actually glad that he looked happy with Lauren, his girlfriend. I thought, good, maybe her lesson is that she ends up with no one!

Another thing I had an issue with was how I felt like I was being told what was going on rather than shown, especially in the end where it was a bit rushed and summarized. It made it a little difficult to immerse myself in the chemistry between Sofia and Daniel and Chris. The attractions between either of them never gave me the warm fuzzies I look forward to feeling when reading a romace story. Perhaps if their interactions had been given more room to breathe, room to grow, then I could've believed their attractions to one another more. I couldn't feel the chemistry with either of them, unfortunately. Sofia and Daniel's relationship also felt so fast that I wished the "honeymoon" phase would have lasted a longer before revealing he was jerk. I will admit, however, that Lyn's party helped make Sofia and Chris's chemistry a little more believable, but even then it just seemed so sudden that she started liking him after he met Sandra.

Overall, this wasn't a bad story. Would I read it again? Probably not. Maybe this just wasn't my cup of tea and perhaps for someone else it would be. I just wanted a little bit more from it. Nevertheless it was entertaining and I might recommended it to a friend to see their take on it.

I really enjoyed this book as my first finished book of 2018, it was just what I needed. It made me laugh and it made me think a lot and it made me happy. What more could you want from your first read of the year.

We meet Sophia who is basically a serial online dater, she’s met them all and not for the best reasons, until she writes a crazy profile (tipsy) and then finds herself meeting her perfect match.

I must admit, I did find myself questioning it a lot. It just seemed too good to be true. I mean I know that people online date and stuff but I’m just not sure how easy it is to find your perfect match and if I’m honest I really thought this guy was a con artist *hides face*. Which is quite funny in itself I guess, my mind overthinks things a lot.

But to be fair saying this, Sophia had tried a lot. She was a trier, she had something in her head and wanted to find it. So good for her. It just took her slightly longer to realise that what she wished for may not be what she actually wanted. It may sound like a cliche story, but I enjoyed it.

I liked that it made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion. If you read it you all know which bit I am mainly referring to!

I also enjoyed how Zoe gave Sophia the time to find herself. I often feel that in today’s society we find that we need to have someone, be it friend, family or partner to rely on and it’s nice and refreshing to see that we can be on our own and work on our own values before.

Also, I have to say this. The dating comments etc seemed very real. I personally haven’t used online dating but I have heard stories and these hit the nail on the head. It’s nice to know that it’s honest, true to form, dating in today’s world.

So yes some people may see this as an obvious read in terms of story. But I enjoyed it. It’s easy to see something when your an outsider but when your in the situation yourself you doubt yourself yet tell yourself not to worry and just go with the flow. Oh and if your completely honest, if this happened to you, you would just go with the flow and let someone treat you good.

The book is full of good characters, who make your heart smile and it seemed that Sophia is a good person and even though at the beginning she may seem like she’s holding out for the impossible, she just needs to discover for herself that she’s enough.

So, I would say that if your up for a nice read that will make you smile you should definitely pick this up. If you like the genre this one is for you. An enjoyable read from an upcoming author, who I look to see more from in the future.

Thanks to Netgalley for approving me to read this book for an honest review.

Many thanks to Netgalley, @HQDigitalUK and Zoe May for the opportunity to review this excellent read.

I’m not normally a fan of the ‘romance’ genre, preferring psychological thrillers, but, gosh! I’m glad I didn’t miss this treat. It’s a funny, thought provoking, read that I literally started this morning and have just finished. Yes, it’s that good.

The characters are well written and I adored the peep into the expensive lifestyle of Daniel. The best thing for me though was the fact that I didn’t find it obvious, rather, I enjoyed getting to know all the characters and seeing how it would all pan out. I was hooked.

I confess to googling at least one modern reference, hahaha, showing my age! And the insight into modern culture and online dating was brilliant.

A really good read. Definitely one for your 2018 summer holiday.

A fun book, and an easy read, but it just didn't grab me.

A lot of the time, my TBR pile consists of books that authors have sent me or blog tours I have been invited on. This makes me feel so lucky and grateful, but also means i'm usually prioritising those books over any other books I may just like the look of. There's also the added factor of there being so many cute books out there that there just isn't time to read every single one of them.

Every once in a while though, when i'm browsing through Netgalley, there will be a book that calls to me, that I simply can't resist. Thus was the case with "Perfect Match' by Zoe May. It sounded like too much fun to pass up, so I thought I would squeeze it in between blog tours. Turns out I needn't have worried about time because I read it in two days!!

You know those books that completely suck you in, to the point where you are literally just counting down the hours till you can read them and jump back into the characters world? Well this is one of them. It had a very Portia MacIntosh vibe to it, which was perfect for me because I love Portia. Zoe May writes with the same humour and wit, that I was easily hooked right away.

Sophia Jones has almost given up on love. She's a member of all the easy to sign up to dating sites, she even has her own dating profile saved on her computer and yet she still hasn't found 'the one.' There's been no spark with any of the guys she's gone out with and she's fed up. So, when her best friend and flatmate Kate makes her sign up to just one more site, Sophia decides to have a bit of fun. She, with the help of a little alcohol, creates the most honest, crazy and rather specific profile, that she's certain no one could possibly meet the criteria. Nobody could really be that perfect, could they?

Firstly, Sophia is a hoot. I loved that this is her story, told in first person because she has a lovely voice that draws you in. She was easy to relate to and easy to like. Even in moments where I thought 'okay Sophia, you're being a little harsh because you wanted this and you did this.' she brings it back and reprimands herself, so she doesn't come across like some high-maintenance, blame it on someone else kind of person. She owns up to her mistakes and accepts the consequences for her actions. This made her more real and down to earth.

The story itself completely pulled me in from the start, I loved the relationship between Sophia and Kate, I even loved visiting Sophia's office and seeing what her odd boss and eccentric co-worker were up to. All the characters helped to build the story and all played their parts perfectly. I was literally on the edge of my seat with anticipation for what was going to happen next. I was almost late for work one day! Daniel got me good because I 100% wanted to trust and believe him. I don't want to give too much away about him because then i'd spoil the suspense, but ahhh I couldn't help but be annoyed with him. Yet I was happy with the ending because it kind of comes as a surprise. It's not a sure fire thing and I enjoyed that. There were plot twists and a lot of sincerity and honest revelations, that felt very realistic.

There's no such thing as perfect and if there is you have to find your own version of it. 'Perfect Match' is funny, compelling and a fantastic read, that I definitely recommend. I am very much looking forward to Zoe May's next book!

I love this type of books, fun, enjoyable and refreshing!I adored the concept in this one! Though online dating is pretty common nowadays, this is the first time I found it being discussed in a novel which I found to be quite refreshing. The story felt realistic to me and I enjoyed the characters. The main heroine was ok for me but I like that she changed through the story. There are some twists that I really didn't expect them and this make the story even more enjoyable!

Okay, there's lots I liked about this book....the familiarity of the good old English life, the supporting characters and the sweet writing style.
I did however have issues with the lead character who sometimes came across as shallow and quite mean although she did appear to learn from her mistakes towards the end of the book.
The storyline had me questioning which way the plot would go and I found myself wanting to know what happens next.
I would definitely read other books from this talented author and look forward to her future work.

This book wasn't all bad. I just can't get over the fact that the main character was looking for a Robert Pattinson lookalike and was thrilled when the lookalike she found referred to Robert Pattinson as "RPattz" ugh. I guess I don't see the appeal there as I think Pattinson looks a bit like the bottom of a foot.

The rest of the story was fun at times though the main character wasn't entirely likable. Shallow and crass and completely lacking common sense at times. I did enjoy reading about Sophia's relationship with Lyn but if Lyn meant that much to her why blow off poor old Lyn for the Rpattz carbon copy?

Overall the characters were not well thought out and the story was muddled.

The story did include some good humor and funny bits. But not enough to make up for Sophia and her Rpattz obsession.

Sophia has been on too many disastrous dates and decides to give up on online dating. But her best friend Kate challenges her to try one last dating site and, completely drunk, Sophia writes that her prince charming must be millionaire, travel a lot, and look like Robert Pattinson. So imagine her surprise when a man fitting the description replies to her profile. Daniel is exactly the prince charming she was looking for but the more time she spends with him, the more she thinks that it is all too good to be true.

This is a typical rom-com of a girl looking for her prince charming but with a few twists and originalities that make it an engaging and enjoyable read. A well written, witty and easy-read novel with a funny and likable heroine, a charming villain, an adorable hero, surrounded by a cast of very colourful friends.

Clues to describe this book: Online Dating, First Impressions, ‘Mr. Right’

Disclaimer: I received a free advanced digital copy of this book from HQ Digital via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. This has no effect on my opinion, review, or rating.

Review: Perfect Match is Zoe May’s debut novel. This romcom is about Sophia Jones who has no luck in finding her “perfect” man and goes through her string of terrible online dates. When Sophia is about to give up on dating all together, her roommate, Kate, suggests that she set up her profile describing who her ‘perfect’ man would be. Once Sophia finds the ‘perfect’ man who checks off all the items on her list, will it be all that she hoped and dreamed of or will it be a bust?

Though online dating is pretty common nowadays, this is the first time I found it being discussed in a novel which I found to be quite refreshing. I was pleasantly surprised with how well the author gives a realistic and relatable view about online dating. She also incorporates twists and turns in the storyline which keeps the reader engaged throughout the novel. It has now become one of my favorite contemporary romance reads! All the characters are well-developed, charming, funny, and extremely relatable. I also loved the way that the author wrote the minor characters’ stories which were equally as interesting. The novel is a quick and easy read with a satisfying ending. If you’re looking for a modern fairytale to lift your spirits, I would highly recommend checking this book out. It is definitely worth the time to read! The book releases this Friday 1/12/18.

This book was incredibly depressing and in the end, it felt like she settled for Chris. She didn’t seem to even really try to make things work with Daniel but she definitely villanized him. The only redeeming qualities were moments of humor.

Thank you netgalley.com and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review the ARC novel in exchange for an honest review. The blurb of this book was really good and made the book sounds really good, however once I started reading this it was a bit slow and awkward. As I kept reading it got better and the party was the complete highlight of the book but this relationship drama she is going through is so predictable in this story. Once she meets Daniel and she thinks he is mister perfect and she completely looses herself in his world, it takes this birthday party to remind her who she really is. The blurb did a good job of pulling out the best parts of the book and making it seem interesting but it was just missing something for me to really connect with the characters and overall story.

This book was witty, and i really laughed reading through it all. I'm glad the story wasn't a typical love story but a realistic one. It really was a page turner.
