Wonderful book that I read and didn't get round to reviewing. An important topic as there is a lot we can learn about kundalini yoga and energy.

I want to thank the publisher, Watkins Publishing and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of this wonderful book in exchange for my honest review.

I am a beginner yoga and meditation practitioner and are an avid reader of yoga and meditation books. I really appreciate this book as it gives you an great and simple to read overview of Kundalini yoga and how to awaken our kundalini energy.
I really like that the book has step by step description and illustrations of basic poses and their relevance. It would be helpful if the author also provided some modifications for those of us that may have some difficult with some of the poses to reflect the new yoga for all and all body type inclusion.
The chapter with description of the mudras was my favorite and the best coverage so far of all the books I have read.

This book is very well researched and is presented and written such that ever reader can understand and takes something away from this wonderful book. For yoga and mediation enthusiasts this is a great book to have on your book shelve, but also those who are new to the practice and want to learn a lot in a nutshell.

I highly recommend this book!

"Everyday Kundalini" by Kathryn McCusker is a great book, it took me awhile to get through, but it was well worth the read. This is for individuals that are seeking meditation more as a spiritual practice with yoga than people who want "secular" meditation and yoga.

I read the book for research purposes, as I had no idea what Kundalini was about. McCusker does an excellent job introducing the beginner to the topic and moving along at a comfortable pace. This isn't something you can read once and be done, but it is more of a reference material as I can see a reader referring back to the images and explanations as the practice progresses.

Well written with easy to follow instructions, McCusker knows what she is talking about and does a fine job sharing her passion with others. I recommend more for people searching for spiritual practices associated with yoga and meditation, but if you have an open mind its worth a read.

I received an e-copy of this book for my honest review from NetGalley.

This book was a great tool to understand what Kundalini Yoga is and the rich history behind it. I loved how easy it was to follow the poses and the explanations behind them. I have been practicing Kundalini yoga myself for a few years and this book helped me enrich my own practice. I really liked the chapter on preparing your space. Making a space for yourself and your practice is such an important part. A great resource for learning more about Kundalini yoga or for referencing new poses or mantras for your practice.

Thank you Kathryn McCosker, Watkins Publishing and Netgalley for an ARC of this book.

I have done quite a bit of meditation and read many books on the subject, I have also done a little bit of yoga, however I knew there was much I didn’t know about the two combined and about kundalini in particular.

This was a great book, with easy instruction and photographs. I look forward to reading more about this subject. I would like to own a hard copy of this great book as it is something I could see myself picking up regularly and trying out different poses and mudras until I am confident I can do them without assistance.

This book will refresh your spirit as the author leads you through the basic tenants of kundalini and yoga. It is easy to follow, sensible and very inspiring. If you follow the authors suggestions and teachings you will find yourself renewed through the practice of Kundalini. I really appreciated knowing the background and history of Kundalini.
Thank you for the ARC which does not influence my personal opinion.

Kundalini meditation is simply beautiful. This book gives good basic instruction. Is is a great starter book if you are really new to meditation, like me.

This is a well presented book with beautiful illustrations. It is an incredibly thorough guide to Kundalini practice and meditation. My only reservation is that I feel uncomfortable saying meditations in another language and all the meditations require vocalisations. For example, in the meditation for healing, the reader must chant "RA MA DA SA, SA SAY SO HUNG." Mccusker translates this to: "sun, moon, earth, infinity, infinity, merging with the infinite." As I don't speak Sanskrit, i need to take her word for this. I do know that 'namaste' in India is used as a respectful greeting like "hello" instead of "hey there" and she translates it to 'I bow to you' - It just feels like cultural appropriation. Perhaps if I believed that she actually spoke the language I would feel more comfortable? This would still be a marvellous gift for a yogi friend.

An interesting read with ideas to change your life style. For me it’s too extreme but I learned a lot and have incorporated some ideas into my routine.

Modern, fresh and different.

Kundalini is a type of yoga. I have heard the name but didn’t really know anything about it and what makes it different from other types of yoga. This book is on the short side but I found it to be thoroughly informative. The author has been practicing Kundalini for many years and is a certified teacher. The book covers the history of the practice, explains the essential components of Kundalini, and provides the reader with the basics that you need to get started. There is a series of yoga poses that are used, which are fully described. The book ends with a selection of Kundalini meditations and explains exactly how to do them yourself. There appears to be a strong spiritual component to Kundalini and the book gives the reader an understanding of this aspect without becoming too woo-woo. I think this book makes a good starting point if you are interested in Kundalini.

I LOVED this book! I am a Yoga Teacher who is trained in Kundalini but I generally don't practice it because I am not a practicing Sikh and I have some concerns about the 'cult-like' nature of the style. However, this book blew all the myths away.

By focusing on the Kundalini energy and explaining the eastern anatomy in a western way Kathryn McCusker delivers a well-rounded and researched explanation of this esoteric style of yoga. She then offers a wide variety of exercises, meditations, mudras and mantras that feel doable rather than magical (as some Kundalini authors are prone to - "do this for 10 minutes and your life will change" etc.)

I'm actually considering making this book part of my Yoga Teacher Training courses in the future because I believe her explanations of the eastern anatomy are so clear and undogmatic.

An easy to read guide to the often confusing and frequently inaccessible world of internal energy.

I received a copy of this book free to review from Netgalley. This book was a lovely introduction to the importance of working with Kundalini. I enjoyed that the authors addressed the misconceptions surrounding awaking Kundalini too quickly and provided steps to do so slowly and safely. The history of the practice was also thoroughly covered and gave me a better understanding and appreciation of the practice. The description of exercises and pictures of the poses were all helpful and accessible. All in all, I really enjoyed reading this book and would consider adding a copy to my home library for future reference!

I really liked this book! So much so that I am going to have to add it to my personal collection when it is published because it is such a useful tool. I have been dabbling in yoga for a while now and frequently found most schools to not really be for me. And I admit I steered away from Kundalini for a while due to the pop culture representation of it and tantra, I loved what I knew about both, but trying to weed through the garbage to find real works about these subjects usually just left me full of frustration.

This is not 'pop kundalini' this is real yoga and meditation techniques to allow the practitioner to reach a state of high consciousness and bliss. It is well explained, well demonstrated, and well illustrated...all things I want from a guide on yoga. I look forward to getting the print version of this book, the ARC on kindle was a bit wonky, and this is the kind of book I want to flip through and mark specific parts. Overall if you are new to Kundalini I suggest giving this book a read, not sure how useful it is to more advanced practitioners, but to a newbie it was quite useful.

Kundalini is a Sanscrit term from ancient India that identifies the arising of an energy and consciousness which has been coiled at the base of the spine since birth, and is the source of the life force that everybody knows.

This is one of three books I have read lately that I hoped I could learn something from and give my overall health and wellbeing a boost. I am new to the whole idea of yoga and had never actually heard of kundalini before this book popped up on NetGalley. My doctor is a big yoga and alternative therapy advocate and I have come to the conclusion that I may as well try different things to try and alleviate some of my health complaints. I guess there's nothing to lose and possibly an awful lot to gain.

Everything in this book was new to me and I was intrigued by a lot of the ideas within it. It manages to be both thorough and easy to understand for a beginner to the topic. It also includes the origin and history of kundalini and does a great job of walking you through the various steps of meditations and different breathing exercises. There are also some beautiful illustrations of the poses which makes it even easier for a novice, like me, to follow,

I would like to thank Watkins Publishing and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
