This was a rollercoaster ride of a book. I enjoyed it from the getgo to the last word. Twists and turns aplenty. I would thoroughly recommend this book as it has been the best I have read in a while. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me review this great book.

This was no easy read. There`s a lot to cope with... Lies, secrets, deaths, caos, murder and child abuse.
It was an exciting read with a lot of twists and turns untill the end.
Step by step the story reveals more of Rachel and her family secrets. - It truly is a nightmare family...

During reading I was constantly in an emotional roller-coaster. - What a living nightmare.... These poor people...

I received an ARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Good start to the storyline and great to see the family relationship evolve through the book.

Good concept though the story did feel lacking and slightly predictable.

Doesn't feel as if this will be a memorable read.

Exciting premise. However super predictable plot. Was an easy read, but I don’t think Ill remember it a year from now.

I enjoyed this book although I felt at times it was predictable. If thrillers with suspense and family dynamics are what appeals to you then you will enjoy this read.

A family full of skeletons and deep dark secrets. Lies woven into the fabric of everyday life and affecting decisions, big decisions.

This novel is a very suspenseful and thought provoking book. Rachel goes back to her family home after being gone for 20 years to help her sister after their mother's death. Every few chapters there is a surprise and usually a twist and turn in the plot that keeps you reading. All the complicated relationships between Rachel, her sisters, their mother, are interesting and every time you turn to a new chapter it seems someone has been hurt, killed, or died. There was also a satisfying ending which made me want to read more of this authors books.

Holy smokes! This book is one for the record books! I have never read anything quite like this before (other than in random bits and pieces in newspapers) My Mother, the Liar delivered what it promised and then some!!! With more twists and turns than a backroad, I never knew what was coming. This book details many “scary but true” types of events in the lives of the members of several entwined families. Just when I thought I had uncovered the truth, a new piece of information would render my conclusion useless. Rarely have I read a book that made me feel this genuinely anxious for the safety of the main characters—specifically Rachel, Charlie, and Amy. I also found myself rooting for the revival of the lovestory that might have been. I loved this book and all its morbidity. What a twisted bunch of people!

Wow, what an exciting book. This is the second of Ann Troup books I have read, the first one being The Silent Girls which I also thoroughly enjoyed. When I was given a copy by the publisher in exchange for an honest review I couldn't wait to get started.

The story starts off with 2 dead bodies being found but that is only the very beginning of the story. There are so many twists and turns along the way at one point I almost for got about the bodies. I found the book kept me gripped to the very end, sometimes staying up late to finish the book, unlike some people I am a slow reader but I think you need to absorb the book otherwise you miss important parts of the story which shouldn't be missed.

For anyone who likes a good psychological thriller I would definitely recommend. I can't wait to read more books by Ann Troup

Rather predictable and formulaic. But teens will like that about it.

This book had so much potential to be a fantastic read but I felt it was poorly written.

Every family has a secret... two dead bodies and a lifetime of secrets....

Ok so this is what immediately caught my attention I was like woah sounds crazy and I have to know more ! When I say I loved this book, I couldn’t put it down ! I was dying to know what would happen... I was only a 1,000 paged in, an almost 4,000 page book and so much had happened, so much was revealed I thought for sure I knew what and who was going to the “bad guy “ but nope their was so much yet to be uncovered and OMG I was shocked, pissed off and even laughing at points ! I will be recommending this book to everyone because it is an absolute must to read !!!

The description tells you to read this book with the lights on - a winter thriller. Unfortunately the story doesn’t support the description. I struggle through 384 pages to finally reach the best part in the last 20 pages. I had a hard time staying focused with this book because the story moved very slow with nothing to keep you wanting to turn the pages.

Many thanks to NetGalley, HQ Digital and Ann Troup for the ARC of ‘My Mother, The Liar’ in return for my honest and unbiased review.

This is the first time I have read anything by this author and enjoyed the writing style. The story was intriguing and unusual from the outset. If you've been in or known a dysfunctional family then some of the situations would have rang bells, but clearly not all of them!

The three sisters work together when their mother dies to sort out the house they were brought up in. The secrets begin to unravel with some shocking revaluations. There is a creepiness throughout so, on occasions I had to put it down and carry on later. It was almost too macabre for me. Having said that I enjoyed it.

Recommended.

I received a copy of this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I did find the book to be a good thriller and I couldn’t put it down. I had to keep reading until I found out what was going on. And it was one surprise after another.

However, I found the paragraph structure to be confusing at times. Sometimes the breaks between the characters wasn’t clear enough and I had to go back to re-read. Also, there’s numerous mistakes throughout the book (where the word was broken up, eg. g one instead of gone; Motherwouldn’t instead of Mother wouldn’t; r elatives instead of relatives). I’m not sure if it’s just the way my copy read or if the editing hasn’t been completed yet, but it was distracting.

Overall though, a really good thriller, great story line and characters.

3.5 Stars.

I had such high expectations on this book. The description sounded great. From starting the book i just couldnt get into it. It was a very slow read right from the start. The writing didnt flow and was very amateurish. Didnt enjoy sorry

This was disappointing to the point here I didn't actually finish it. The story had so much potential, although it seems in parts to be confusing for the sake of it. Sadly the seemingly intriguing story was ruined (for me) by unrealistic characters and dialgue which would not have taken place in a million years. Had it been kepy real, I can see it working but (sorry) it wasn't for me.
