I received this ARC via NetGalley. The summary of this book is vague –Every family has a secret…
A chilling thriller to read with the lights on. Needless to say, it intrigued me which then caused me to request this ARC. I am a big fan f thrillers and suspense. This book had a bit of everything.

The story follows Rachel, Frances and Stella. Three sisters dealing with resentment towards their diseased mother, Valerie. From the beginning of the book you can feel the tension between the sisters and it pretty much stays consistent throughout.

To say that this story was out of my comfort zone is a huge understatement. It’s a twisted story with plenty of incestuous relationships, betrayal, lies and family. The creepiness is on another level and isa good thing the description tells us to read with the lights on. If you are a fan of American Horror Story then this book is for you!

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and Ann Troup for my ARC of The fantastic thriller; My Mother the Liar.
I'm sat here taking a few deep breathes now, I've sped through this book because it was literally such a page turner! I couldn't put it down. It is creepy, thrilling and exciting from start to finish!
Rachel returns back to her childhood home after the death of her mother, she's doesn't want to go, having had no contact with her family since they fell out decades ago. She plunges into helping her older sister Frances with clearing the house, but what she didn't expect was the unearthing of two bodies which lead to a chain of events which unveil many secrets, Lies and terrible betrayals.

This was so intriguing, I really have to applaud Ann Troup for her ability to weave so many shocking secrets and lies into one story. It honestly took me ages to work out who was doing what and even then I had no clue as to the motive before it was all explained in the end.
The characters were perfect, and Rachel made a particularly good conflicted protagonist wrapped up as she was in the webs of deceit. I really liked Charlie as a character too, he was a cool guy!
I loved this book so much that 33% of the way through, I popped over to Amazon and bought The Forgotten Room another Book by Ann Troup.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves slow burn thrillers, particularly fans of Kate Morton.

My Mother the Liar is a thriller that left me more than pleased that my own family isn't quite so creepy.

When their mom dies, sisters return to their family home to sort out the meager belongings that are left.
Rachel is one sister, Stella is another and Francis is the other. They are all dysfunctional, brought on by their mother, who surely takes the cake for worse mom ever.
This book is filled with incestuous behaviors, lies, humiliation and a mother who wants to rule and ruin her children.
The creep factor is high in this book and it is not for the faint of heart.
I like to read outside my genre to refresh my mind ( I am a cozy mystery addict) and this book certainly did the trick.

I voluntarily read an ARC of this book provided

Thank you Netgalley for the advance copy of My Mother,The Liar! This is the first book I’ve read in 2018, I read quite quickly as it’s one of those stories that draw you in and you need to know what it’s all about. It centres around a family, a very odd family in my opinion! The mum dies and the sisters come back to sort out the family Home etc. But clearing the house, secrets come out and we read he story (or stories) of all of different family members. Very very twisty, and you cannot guess what’s going on at all! Suppose it has a little hint of Virginia Andrews books, not the writing style but in the way the story unfolds. Definitely worth a read!

I’m on the fence with this book because I feel like it has so much potential but it didn’t exactly hit the mark. The characters were developed but the story kind of dragged on in the beginning. Once it picked up I enjoyed it though.
In the end I was left with the feeling of wanting more, so that’s why I gave it 3 stars.
Thank you Netgalley for an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
