Dani Rene writes a lot of books that I enjoy reading. Some of them are dark and twisted. Some of them are not. Some of them are light, fluffy pieces of mind-candy that will give you a nice, hot happy. This one falls into the latter category. I'll definitely be keeping it around for days when I need something quick and easy to read.

Ryn learned that men can't be trusted. She's more than willing to stick with that lesson when notorious man slut Slate Maddox shows an interest in her. She doesn't want to be a notch in his bedpost and she doesn't want to let him in her life if he's just going to get bored and walk away. Slade is bound and determined to break through her walls.

Very hot and steamy, very quick and easy to read. I liked the byplay between Ryn and Slade. They are magnetic and so drawn to each other. Great read.

A good story. I realize it’s supposed to go fast, but this one went too fast for my liking. Slade seemed to have no reaction to finding out Ryn had a kid. For someone who started the book having no intention of settling down with one woman, accepting a woman with a kid instantly seems a little far fetched. We get no info about how finding out about Roxie makes him feel.

Pretty decent read, if a bit short. Enjoyed the story though.

Well written short story that held my interest as was intended. Probably not a book I’d read again but it was worth the read.

I am giving this story a 3.75 star rating. This is the story of Ryn Callan and Slade Maddox. Slade has tried for a while to get with Ryn, but has had been declared off limits by his best friend and her employer. She shot him down every time he showed interest. Slade was known as a man-whore and Ryn wanted no part of that, since she had a beautiful daughter named Roxanne (Roxie). Slade also had not been one to think about having a family or getting married. It just was not for him. Ryn was the elusive unicorn that he wanted to catch. One day Ryn gives Slade a chance and he proves himself to be someone who accepts her daughter and who she could settle down with.

There was not much character development. The characters seemed to flip their opinions very quickly on what they were willing to take from the other and how they felt. It was entertaining for a short story. It moved a little fast for me. I wish the reader could have had more insight into Slade and Ryn's thoughts. Slade goes from a man-whore, to pursuing Ryn, and then wanting a family. Ryn went from not wanting to have anything to do with him to giving him a big chance. Those decisions were big leaps. I would recommend it, if the reader is looking for a story to relax and fill the time for a couple of hours.

You know how sometimes late at night you don't really want to start a new book but would like just a little *fix*?
This was a great short read. Took me about 1 1/2 hour to finish and I went to bed with a smile.

Ryn is a single mom who finds hart to trust man after her ex left her pregnant. She has a great personality and is finally living her dream of being an artist through tattooing.

Slade is a detective who has a way with the ladies. One night stands are his thing. He is not looking for anyone special but not not looking either. After meeting Ryn, he knows things will change.

All in all a lovely cute read. Ryn's daughter was adorable!
Give it a go!

This was a very well executed short story. I know that doesn't sound like high praise, but it is. I'm not gonna lie and say any of it wow'd me or surprised me, but the author impressed me. The story was not rushed. The romance felt natural and flowed at a very good pace. So yes, for a short story, this delivered quite nicely. More cases than less, short stories fall short in one way or another. I was waiting for it to happen with Madd Ink and it never did. Well done!

3.5 Stars - 3 Flames

Well this was a pretty good short read. I wasn't even aware it was a short until I was done with it. LOL

Ryn is a single mom who has serious trust issues when it comes to men, with good reason. She's also a spit fire blonde with piercings and tattoos. She's finally living her dream of being an artist, through tattooing, and although she hasn't dated in years, she's not exactly looking for someone. But that all changes when her boss' best friend makes the moves on her.

Slade is a detective who's a renowned ladies man. As Ryn stated, he "f*!ks em and chucks em". But let's face it. He's super easy on the eyes and when he turns on the charm, he's down right irresistible. He doesn't like commitment and can't see himself settling down. But after finally looking and speaking with Ryn, he knows that she's a game changer. But he also has to step up his game because it's not just Ryn he needs to impress.

This was a cute read. I'm not typically a fan of single mom/dad books, but this one worked. Probably because it WAS so short. The sexual tension/release between these two was just the right amount. And I found the daughter to be super adorable. Ok, yes. Roxie stole the show for me. I'm officially a sucker.

All in all, if you're looking for a quick read while on a plane, waiting at the DMV or up with insomnia, this is a perfect book.

Naughty short story with a happy ending. Madd Ink by Dani Rene is an overall good bit of writing. Slade meets his match when he meets Ryn Callan. Passions flare and Slade is hooked.

2* This one doesn't really work - bit of a plot hole in a plot-less tale.

So, this is another read in the new Dirty Bits series, but it has typos and has a glaring error - the Slade guy in question is someone the female lead knows and doesn't particularly like, and yet when she sees his name in the appointment book, she seemingly doesn't clock that it's one and the same guy and doesn't react? Come on! She works for Slade's best friend and has met the guy before...

Unfortunately, this one goes nowhere. The sex is repetitive, as if Slade only has one move, and there's not even one serious conversation in the tale, before there's some collusion between Slade and Ryn's daughter that ends in the supposed start of a HEA. Missed the mark, unfortunately,

The synopsis tells us that Madd Ink is part of The Dirty Bits from Carina Press, sex filled books that can be read in an hour or two. Boy, they weren’t exaggerating. This was short and hot and didn’t require a lot of thought or energy to read. When I clicked on Madd Ink I was expecting a sexy story but one with at least some semblance of a plot and that was not the case.

Storyline wise there just wasn’t a lot to go on but what there was didn’t really work for me. In a nutshell, a manwhore meets his one and sets out to convince her he’s not a manwhore. Since Slade was one, I would have preferred he went with the “My manwhore days were over the moment I met you” line rather than the “Nope, no manwhore here.” Lying out of your teeth about who you are (or were I suppose) isn’t a great way to start things off. As for Ryn, she was shy and sweet but introduced her daughter to Ryn way too early for me.

Unfortunately, there was no tension and not one little bit of suspense. This was purely relationship driven, well, sex scene driven really, with lots of bumping and grinding and Slade getting his “dessert.” Occasionally there would be a cute kid scene thrown in.

If you are in the mood for a hot, sexy book with no plot that you can read in an hour, this may work for you. For me, what little plot it had fell completely flat, but the rest of it was definitely hot.

This was, sadly, a little disappointing. Part of the Dirty Bits books from Carina Press, I was not expecting a totally fleshed out story, but I had hoped to find more of a connection between the characters than sex. And even the sex seemed disingenuous. It was like being told they were hot for each other, and not showing me.

I also had trouble with the very basic character development. Slade's characters is this total man whore who literally all of a sudden wants nothing more than to settle down with Ryn and her little girl. WHY? There was not enough internal dialogue, or discussions with friends, indicating that he was actually wanting to settle down any time soon. He goes from kicking a woman out of his bed, to later that day deciding he was going to win Ryn over. It's too abrupt, no history, and left me unhappy.

Because of the nature of this series of books, I really didn't need there to be a huge plot or anything like that, just an extra page or two that displayed how these characters felt, why they felt it, and not just because it meant great sex and security. It was okay, but only just.

Quickie little number

In the mood for a spicy little quickie? I love this series of these little Novellas, perfect for a break from the monotony or burnout from another book.

I love this story and I really wish it was a full length book. The author did a great job with her story and the development of her characters.

Slade is so sweet and damn hot too! Definitely a steamy diversion!!

I requested this from NetGalley as I was looking for something short, sexy and simple to read.
It ticked all the boxes but... It wasn't all that satisfying, to be honest.
Too much was crammed into the story.
Let's be perfectly honest, if I'm reading a 12,000 word erotica, I'm looking for a decadent dessert. A wonderful, sexy story in which the HEA is optional as long as things end nicely.
The story is made, or broken, on the chemistry of the leads not their romantic journey and unfortunately, in this story, I felt that the chemistry was forced and the sexy times were, well, bland.

However!
I actually liked the characters.
I liked where the story could have gone if it was a longer novella, or, better yet, a full-length novel and I'd be willing to read more from the author in future.

This is a short story but packs a punch. It is erotic romance so the sex is quick and dirty but there is a nice little romance between Detective Slade Maddox and Ryn, a single mom who works at a tattoo parlor as an ink artist.

The characters were well drawn despite the short format. It looks like there are others in the series and I wouldn’t mind reading them. The ending was satisfying.

I didn’t like that Maddox was with another woman at the beginning and that lost a star for me as it seemed he was disrespectful of her even though he’d used her for sex.

Slate and Run were super hot. This was such a quick, fun and dirty read. I loved the Hot, alpha and dominant Slade and the sassy and fiery Ryn. I loved how she turned him down and made him work for her attention. All in all this was fantastic!

I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy for an honest review!

Holy hell what a great story! I almost tripped over my tongue a few times in this one.
Meet Ryn and Slade. Ryn, the quiet, sweet tattoo artist single mom of Roxie. Run works for Jag and his girlfriend Ava, a great female presence in the shop. Slade is a total man whore and I wasn't sure I was going to warm up to him in the beginning but it didn't take long. It was his interactions with Roxie that did it.
He wants Ryn and Ryn turns him down. Apparently no one turns down Slade, but Ryn's been burned badly and has Roxie to think about. Slowly she lets him in, the chemistry between these two is smokin' hot and I loved the way he took to Roxie and she to him.
Dani wrote this so vividly it was like watching a little movie play out. I could picture the whole book.
I loved it. I like this little bits books and would love to read more. I'm curious about Jag and Ava.
Madd Ink is a winner!! Great story Dani!

I loved reading this book! This was a short, fast paced, steamy erotic romance!

I really wish it was longer, I feel like this book has so much potential to be more than a 62 paged novella...

This is the first book I’ve read of author Dani René and it wont be the last! Can’t wait to read more by her! I recommend it!
