The Pallet Book contains several amazing projects that can be made from wooden pallets.

Where I live we can pick up wooden pallets for no cost from local stores, so being able to use them to create these projects costs me almost nothing.

Each project is explained in detail and the included photographs are there to ensure you are doing everything correctly.

I really liked this book and I recommend it to all DIY'ers whether they are experienced or not.

I love this book. The ideas are great and so easy to make. The instructions are clear and concise. I can't wait to get started!

A very well illustrated and explained book on the subject of re-using wooded pallets.
The projects range from very easy to things which require a little more practise and patience. All are achievable by a person with a little experience in working with wood. All are useful, and the furniture would sit proudly in any house - I particularly like the bedhead and outdoor lounge.
Materials are cheap, making this an idea book for a beginner woodworker, who just want to try thing out.

If you are looking for some ideas on how to create some great projects The Pallet Book offers DIY Projects for the home, garden, and homestead. Creating from pallets is relatively simple and requires only basic skills.

Working With Pallets gives you the background information you need starting with the basics about pallets and pallet types. You will the find info on locating and identifying for what the pallet was formerly used. The rest of the chapter covers deconstruction and finishing techniques.

The other three categories are the actual projects. Each project starts with a brief description then includes a details tools and materials list and easy to follow instructions. There are lots of pictures too. Not only will you see a pic of the finished item but many of the steps will have their own picture as well.

Many of the projects include ideas on how to make them work with what you need. How to adjust the size, look or features so it works the way you want it to. Throughout there are also pages of quick & easy projects you can whip up in a jiffy.

Very Thorough

I like how the book is so thorough. Not only do you see the step-by-step instructions with pictures but in many cases, there are also bits of information on how to use the item after. This is an excellent book for someone wanting to do some budget woodworking.

The Pallet Book is a handy DIY manual with projects that look really good and don't seem to shout out that they were recycled from reclaimed pallet wood.
Author Chris Peterson teamed up with Voyageur Press to produce this 144 page softbound book, published 2 January, 2018.

The book includes multiple methods of deconstructing pallets and smoothing out the resultant wood in order to reclaim as much material as possible. There are also good tips for arranging the reclaimed wood into similar widths and qualities to make selecting project materials easy and painless. I really liked the safety minded tutorials on reclamation and deconstruction. There were a lot of good tips on sourcing pallets also, along with good and sensible advice on being responsible (don't steal, ask permission, etc).

The book is arranged in thematic chapters, starting with an introduction on sourcing and deconstruction, availability and safety.

The second chapter includes some simple but useful and attractive yard and garden projects. Each of the chapters starts with an introductory sidebar with a table of contents (there's also a master table of contents at the beginning of the book). The yard and garden projects include planters, a bird house, a doghouse, a workbench and others. They're not all small and simple projects. There are some more challenging and larger projects including an adirondack chair (pictured on the cover), porch swing, hammock chair and chaise lounge.

Third chapter includes storage and organizational projects. There's a bookshelf (cover pic), wine rack, coat rack, and others.

Fourth chapter includes many furniture and decor items. I really love several of these and have started sourcing materials. I like the idea of reclaiming and upcycling materials. There's something very satisfying about making something useful and beautiful out of something potentially landfill-worthy.

I'd like to comment on the general superlative quality of these projects. They emphatically do NOT look like reclaimed pallet wood. They look really good; well made and professional. There are 50 projects in all, including several in each chapter which are grouped into three quick projects.

The photography is top notch. Quarto/Voyageur books have great photography along with clear and easy to follow tutorials. They've become one of my top go-to choices for woodworking, cooking and other DIY. They produce consistently high quality usable books.

While I did receive an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher, I'll be buying my own physical copy of this book for my workshop.

Such creative ideas and easy to follow instructions. This is a great book if you want a hobby or if you are interested in this craft perhaps as something to wow your family and friends. The book is very helpful.

5 Stars! This book has all the information you need to up-cycle pallets! Things that I never would have even thought of, like if the pallet has been painted red, blue or brown, that means it was used with toxic chemicals & shouldn’t be used in an up-cycled project. This book taught me that pallets have markings on them that indicate how they were treated, what they were used to transport, etc.. I learned a lot through reading this book! It even had DIY project ideas to do with the wood from pallets. It explains how to get the wood apart & what tools to use & how to use those tools! I definitely recommend this book! Anyone looking to use pallets in a DIY project should really read this book!

Very instructive craft book. We have been getting a lot of material quests for DIY furniture requests at my library from patrons so this is a resource that will be welcomed. I enjoyed how simple the instructions were and the accompanying pictures.

This book is brilliant! Who would have thought you could make so many different items using pallets. I found the instructions and the list of materials you need to make the furniture most helpful and the photographs just made it so easy to follow. There are many great items you could make from different skill levels so if your more advanced and have the power tools you could make the more complicated items. This is great for people on a budget as they'll be able to make great pieces of furniture for little cost and no one would believe they had started as a pallet! Excellent book, one I need to purchase for my aunt.

My husband owns a pallet company and so when I saw this book I just had to give it a go! Who knew you could make so many cool things with pallets? I must say I’m kind of excited to make some items. Well worth the read!

So many options in every room in and outside the home.
A great gift to give any man if you want to have some fun household items in and around your home.

Could open the file in my rating device. I wish NG told us ahead of time what time of files these were. Maybe next time.

While the information at the beginning of the book is very helpful (different types of pallets; how to know whether they're safe / been treated; how to deconstruct a pallet), the creative ideas were not all that creative. I've seen every single one of them splashed around the internet / Pinterest for several years now. I had hope for some new inspiration, and did not get it. That said, if you've never worked with pallets before, this is a good beginner's book.
