This is both informative and entertaining. I really appreciated the detailed level of advice and information imparted by the author. If I was going to enter the on-line dating world, this is exactly the information I would want to have.
Thank you to Net Galley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Until now, I've only read relatively short articles about online dating--Kissing Strangers is my first full-length book on the topic. Ms. Spiridon's style here is engaging and entertaining, and what she has to say on the topic makes a lot of sense. Reading it is a lot like sitting down and chatting with a good friend who's already been there, done that just as you're getting ready to head into the online dating scene.

Ms. Spiridon gives readers 17 "Single Girls Dating Rules" with tips, examples (many of them her own real life ones), and explanations. She answers single girl and guy questions about online dating, talks to a variety of experts on the topics, and even gives links to websites, articles, and studies that back up the points she's trying to make. (Don't skip the footnotes--there's some real gold in there.) She rates and explains the current online dating options and apps, and stresses the importance of numbers--including some statistics about how many guys she interacted with online and how many actual face-to-face meetings that lead to (and how successful--or-not--those meetings were). The last section of her book gives a wide variety of helpful information--explains some of today's dating terminology (those of us who went to college before Netflix existed might not know exactly what adding "and chill" to the online streaming service really means), first date tips, a "man speak" translator, how to date like a man, how to avoid scammers (along with online advice on how not be a victim--including .gov and .mil sites--and where to go if you are) and more.

If you're re-entering the dating scene after being out of it for a while, or are just looking for a way to re-up your online dating game, this could be the book for you!

First up, I have not done online dating. Despite some good friends finding their significant others online, I found it intimidating and kinda weird. Alethea Spiridon lifts the veil on online dating in this sometimes hilarious, sometimes sobering book about her experiences. I found it a really good primer on how to go about online dating and things to look out for. It covers ‘rules’ to follow, the right attitude to take, and is peppered with personal experiences both good and bad. If this is a pool you’re thinking of dipping your foot into – or one you’re already in, this is a fantastic resource.

Unfortunately, it’s also put me off the experience myself. I know that 1 in 3 people find their partner online, but I think I want to be one of the other 2. It all sounds exhausting and I’m not ready to start kissing a lot of frogs to meet my prince. Maybe I’ll change my mind in the future – in which case this will be my go-to book. Until then, this will stay an entertaining but unused cover on my eReader.

I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
