This is the first in a new series featuring Whitney Bloom. Whitney lives in Chicago and is a former advertising executive who was the creator of “that ad” which was aired during the Super Bowl for a feminine hygiene product which basically ruined the company. I find this highly unbelievable but you have to suspend belief a little bit to continue with the rest of the story. She is running her own online business Bloom N Cherries and although she is trying to get back into advertising is holding her own. She receives a call from her Mother to tell her Father is the suspect in the murder of Jeb Carlson their family orchard manager. Whitney heads home to Cherry Cove and the annual Cherry festival. To help save her Dad and the family business she decides she is going to help clear her Father’s name. The police officer in town is a high school classmate who she used to butt heads with. They work together reluctantly because Whitney is going to investigate whether Jack wants her to or not. Jack and Whitney also have some chemistry that is hard to ignore. Throw in her former boyfriend Tate, an online admirer named Cbomb (on her business site) and she seems to have lots of romance options. Loved the characters in this story including Jenn her Grandma, Tay and Hannah as her best friends along with Giff who comes to judge the pie contest from Chicago. There is a lot going on in this story. Perhaps a bit too much but it is the first in a series. I also cringed when Whitney shares all the investigation details with this unknown online friend/flirtation. She definitely makes mistakes that most people would do so that part is believable. I did enjoy the mystery, the setting and the characters. This is a good new series and I look forward to the next installment.

I disliked this book very much. There was a lot of swearing, a lot of vulgarity and the story-line was very tepid. I read 100 pages and just couldn't continue. So I went to the last 4 chapters and read the end [with the reveal]. Which was ridiculous. And unbelievable. And the end? WHAT. THE. HECK. That certainly doesn't make me want to read the second one. Meh.
I cannot recommend this book at all.

I loved this quirky fun cozy mystery. Whitney is hilarious and her mother will remind you of your own mother. The mystery moved along nicely and Door County and it residence will! Put a smile on your face I can't wait to read more from this series and author. Definitely should be on your summer reading list

Whitney Bloom has done something strange. She was the force behind the advertisement of a feminine hygiene product during the "Super Bowl". Well that was not a success. The ad blew up and destroyed the company that made the product. Whitney has been dropped by her boss and was forced into a new position. " Bloom N' Cherries" is what Whitney resorts to. "Bloom 'N' Cherries" has a specialty called a deconstructed cherry pie. There are many things that cherries can be made into it seems. While a mystery man C-Bomb is emailing Whitney, she gets a call from her mother. Whitney's father is accused of murder. The town of Cherry Cove in Wisconsin is hosting the Cherry Blossom Festival at the Cherry Orchard Inn. The same inn where Whitney's father is a suspect of murdering Jeb. The story is cherry filled. One thing that I was amazed with the discussion of cherries. It seems a little overwhelming at times. The suspect list in this mystery is long, and twisting. I did enjoy the talk of Sasquatch. If your reading, pay attention to all the details in the beginning. They tell the most about how the Orchard Inn works, and leads all the way threw the book. That darn advertisement plays a part. The wrap up was a little long. I was loving the book. It was well written. But the ending chapter seems to go on and on. I was going, "can we wrap it up?" But other than that I loved the book. It's wonderful.

This is a fun to read and entertaining mystery. I liked the relationship amongst the different characters and the setting. The plot was interesting and there were no hole and was full of humour.
Sometimes the heroine was too stupid to live acting like she had a death wish.
I think this series has a lot of potential and I'm curious to read the next instalment.
Many thanks to Midnight Ink and Netgalley for this ARC

Cherry Pies & Deadly Lies by Darci Hannah is the first book in A Very Cherry Mystrery series and is off to a good start.

Whitney, after a very bad ending of marketing career is selling pies through her internet site when she gets a call from her mother that long time co-worker and friend has been murdered, and to make this even worse her father is a suspect.
She heads home immediately only to find out that her former school mate is now a police officer working on the case. She coerces him into letting her help with the investigation. Her two best friends try to help out as well as her former colleague. They have to work swiftly as Cherry Blossom Festival is taking place and many guests who are possible suspects as well will leave.
I enjoyed this book. It is easy to follow and entertaining. With lots of humor. I liked how she has never been involved in anything similar nor does she like mysteries at all. She is realistic enough to suspect even the loved ones which is usually not the case. I enjoyed easy banter between friends and how close knit they all are.
The story is well told and amusing. It is fun with lots of laugh aloud moments and also has a lot of romantic scenes.
I would highy recommend this book to all mystery lovers.

Cherry Pies & Deadly Lies by Darci Hannah is the first book in the new cozy A Very Cherry Mystery series. Whitney Bloom grew up on her parent’s cherry orchard in Door County, Wisconsin but has been living and working in Chicago. After being fired from her advertising job Whitney took up baking cherry treats but when she gets a phone call from home that a murder has occurred at the orchard she immediately heads back.

Guests at the the Cherry Orchard Inn had gone out into the orchard when they came across the body of the orchard manager. As bad as the discovery was it became even worse for Whitney’s family when her father’s croquet mallet was also found at the scene and suspected to be the murder weapon.

Whitney doesn’t expect there to be much in the way of investigating with the evidence pointing at her father and the only police officer in the two being Jack MacLaren her old high school foe. But much to Whitney’s surprise Jack seems to be on her side but Whitney still doesn’t trust their fate to anyone else and decides to do whatever she can to help find the killer.

Cherry Pies & Deadly Lies was a fun opener to this new cozy series with likable characters and a cherrytastic setting. I have to admit the whole mystery in this one started reminding me a bit of an episode of Scooby Doo so it may not be for everyone but that reminder made me like it all the more. I can’t possibly imagine what the author could come up next but it seems it will be a lot of fun to find out.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

A wonderful start to a new series, A Very Cherry Mystery. What drew me to this story was the description and the cover. The cover is adorable, so full of color and inviting to a summer day in Door County.

Cherry Blossom Festival has just kicked off at the Cherry Orchard Inn in Door County, Wisconsin. Our soon to be sleuth, Whitney Bloom, has returned home to help her family with the festival.

Unfortunately, the orchard manager is found dead and Whitney’s father is the prime suspect.
I liked that it was a little less cozy and this community is tight knit. The writer’s descriptions of the area made me feel as if I were there. Another good point for me was the humor in the book. I enjoy mysteries with a little humor.

Looking forward to book number 2.

Cherry Pies and Deadly Lies is the first in a new series. I have not read anything by this author before. When Whitney receives a call from her mother that her father has been accused of murder, Whitney hangs up her apron in Chicago and rushes home to Wisconsin to help clear her father's name. However, things get dicey when her old nemesis is the only police officer in town. Will she be able to clear her father? Will she be able to resist Jack?
I was not drawn into this book like I am most. It took me a few pages to really grab hold of the story. The characters were well thought out however, it is a little riskier that I am used to reading. I will read the next book and see where this leads us. I received a copy through Netgalley. I review was not required.

Main character Whitney Bloom rushes home to her small hometown of Cherry Cove after a dead body is found at her parents’ Cherry Orchard Inn. The murder took place just days before the annual Cherry Blossom Festival is about to begin, and Whitney’s father is the number one suspect. Whitney pitches in to help her parents handle the festival, do damage control for the Inn, and find the real killer.

CHERRY PIES & DEADLY LIES is a fun cozy mystery with some plot twists that will keep the reader guessing. The murderer, the motive, and the additional crimes that took place were all interesting. Had the mystery aspect not been as strong or compelling, I probably wouldn’t have been as interested in the novel. The main character, Whitney Bloom, is the typical bumbling, amateur detective. Her father is the number one suspect, so she sticks her nose into the police investigation to help clear his name. She then continues to remain involved because her parents’ Inn is placed in jeopardy due to all of the criminal acts taking place on the property. While a likable enough character, Whitney got a little annoying at times. She came off as very immature, reckless, and boy crazy in some scenes. Whitey finds at least four men attractive – jumping between which one she is the most interested in faster than the cherry blossoms fall from the trees. Some of the other secondary characters – especially the ones who are roughly the same age as Whitney – also come off as a bit immature and reckless. Something else that didn’t sit well with me was how the town’s only police officer not only allows Whitney to take an active role in his investigation, but lets her family, friends, and whoever else tag along so that they can all get in his way and hamper his activities.

This is 5 star cozy mystery debut ! What a fun read this is.This book has all the perfect elements for a great series. Cherry Pies & Deadly Lies by Darci Hannah is the 1st book in A Very Cherry Mystery series, and a great beginning.
The protagonist is Whitney Bloom is a baker in Chicago. She receives a panicked call from her Mother and returns home to help her family get ready for the annual Cherry Blossom Festival in the small town of Door County, Wisconsin. This idyllic little town is dependent on the business from tourist in cherry season. The way the author describes it the reader is swept into the lovely town, the pretty Inn and of course, the pies ! The pies will have you baking a cherry pie before you finish the book . Her parents own the Cherry Orchard Inn and the main cherry orchard.
The orchard's manager is found dead and soon the police are considering Whitney's father as the prime suspect. She begins to investigate to save her Father and solve the murder. Her old high school crush and nemesis is now the police officer who she is forced to work with on the case. This leads to many humorous moments. They are not willing to work together and she does all she can to investigate behind his back and ignore him but he is not to be ignored. It gives a fun element to the story.
I loved this book, and can't wait for the next book in the series. This book has a fast pace, a well developed plot and characters. that all add to the story. The sleuth kept me guessing until the conclusion. I welcome the author to a brilliant new cozy series . I highly recommend this mystery.

Whitney goes home to Cherry Cove to help exonerate her dad from a potential murder charge- and discovers that her old high school frenemy Jack is the police officer investigating. Well, you know how that's going to work out! This is in many ways a classic cozy but note that Whitney seems as interested in finding a guy as she is in finding a murderer. Acknowledging that this was an ARC, this would have benefited from both a copy edit and a good read through edit to cut some of the repetition. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. It's light and it's fun and worth a try.

Cherry Pies & Deadly Lies by Darci Hannah is the 1st book in A Very Cherry Mystery series, and a great beginning. Whitney Bloom is a baker in Chicago, but she returns home to help her family get ready for the annual Cherry Blossom Festival in Door County, Wisconsin. Her parents own the Cherry Orchard Inn, along with the cherry orchard. When the orchard's manager is found dead, and Whitney's father is the prime suspect, she vows to solve the murder. I loved this book, and can't wait for the next book in the series. I found this book to be a quick and fun read, with a well developed plot and characters. If you love fun cozy mysteries, which are my favorite, you will love this book. Strongly recommended.

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Loved it! A delightful new series. The amusing euphemisms cracked me up. One of the best things about cozy mysteries is their lack of coarse language. Murder, mayhem, and romance. I am eager to read the next one. The critters also added to the tale.

This was an enjoyably fun book to read that I could not put down, quickly becoming a page-turner. The comfortable tone and writing style made it easy to follow along with all that was happening within the pages. The pacing was on par with how well this story was being told from first meeting Whitney to Giff, who I love, to Jack to Tate to Hannah and to Tay. All played pivotal roles that added to my reading pleasure. The author did a great job in presenting a well-defined mystery that kept me engaged in every aspect – from the many suspects to the clues that helped narrow down the field and to the comedic interludes that had me chuckling. A few surprising twists and turns kept me on my toes and I loved it. Whitney is a gutsy and determined heroine that I want to call my friend. She is surrounded by a wonderful cast of characters and with witty repartee and a small town-atmosphere, this debut is a welcome addition to the cozy genre and a great start in a delightfully charming series.

I was immediately drawn to the attractive cover, catchy title and the setting. Plus, summer is finally here and so are the cherries! When Whitney Bloom returns home to Cherry Grove to help her family run the Cherry Orchard Inn, she is immediately plunged into a murder mystery in which her father is the chief suspect. She also has to face her high school rival who is now the town's police officer investigating the crime.

That's where the book's charm ended for me. From the very beginning, there were numerous spelling and grammatical errors. While I understand that this is an advance review copy, I can't see how it made it this far without a better proofreading for some of these mistakes. The word repetition also was grating; I just got sick of reading over and over that they were having mimosas for brunch! The mystery was less than convincing and I found it hard to stay engaged. I am hoping these issues can be ironed out because I really wanted to like this book. I think the series has very good potential

Whitney Bloom made an expensive mistake and she lost her job in advertising. She started an online bakery, Bloom ‘n’ Cherries, while trying to get her job back until a call from her mother brings her home immediately. Her parents own and operate Cherry Orchard Inn and the adjacent cherry orchard. The orchard manager, Jeb Carlson, is dead and her father is a suspect in his murder. And the annual Cherry Blossom Festival is coming up this weekend.

Arriving home in Cherry Grove, Whitney finds her two best friends Tay and Hannah ready to help any way they can. She also runs into two men she knew in high school, her boyfriend Tate, who now owns Cherry Grove Marina, and Detective Jack MacLaren, who is investigating the murder. Rounding out the group are her parents, Jani and Baxter Bloom and her Grandma Jenn.

This is the first in a new cozy series A Very Cherry Mystery and it’s off to a good start. This is a fun read. Well developed characters, realistic dialogue and delightful banter between characters. Appropriate twists and misdirection. Plot line is solid and the pace steady. The only surprise: there were no cherry recipes.

LOVED this book. Thank you for allowing me to read it! The storyline was fantastic and yet it was easy reading. Great characters, great storyline and very well written. I really enjoyed it.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this book!

What a cute cozy! The Cherry theme was consistent without being over the top. I enjoyed reading the story from Whit's perspective, although she tends to find super obnoxious men attractive. Like seriously? there are at least four men she's interested in, <spoiler>and two out of the four are bad guys, and the third cheated on her and is a ratbag. </spoiler>

There are a few formatting/spelling errors on the copy I read, but hopefully they get picked up before publishing. All in all I enjoyed the story and the writing very much. Four stars!

I enjoyed this first book in a new series. Although this was the first book in the series, it felt like an 'established' series.

The story was well-written with descriptions of the Inn and Festival woven seamlessly into the story without slowing.the flow. Interesting twist and turns that kept my interest until the very end.

The characters were likable but I really wished that Whitney wasn't as impulsive as she searched out the murderer on her own.
