This is a London travel guidebook designed for kids. Unfortunately the formatting didn't work right on my e-reader and definitely made for a less than ideal experience. I find this is often an issue with children's picture books. My 8-year-old (an avid and non-picky reader) didn't seem interested when she saw the truncated pictures.

An introduction to London for kids. Actual photos with a little history. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher

The book was cute. It would have been better suited if we were travelling to England soon, were there or just returned. Since this was not the case, my kids found it hard to care about what London has to offer.

Children’s readers don’t have much text, and – unfortunately – my review copy was in black and white, so you can’t appreciate the pictures.

However, I think the author did a pretty good job of capturing the highlights of an enormous city with more attractions than almost anywhere in the world, all within a few words. It must have been hard to narrow it down.

HOWEVER – it is inexcusable to change the spelling of London place names. I don’t care if – for example – Americans spell “Theatre” differently. If it’s a proper noun, you do not get to change it.

Additionally: it’s Tower Bridge, and is never referred to as “The Tower Bridge”. On the other hand, at least the bridge’s name was the correct one; most people mix up London and Tower Bridges!

Well-simplified language, with plenty of information in a small word count, but with some errors that could have been easily fixed.

I’m definitely going to recommend this book to my elementary students. It’s easy to read and it’s about London, who everybody loves. Perfect for low levels.

Discover London by Juliana O'Neill is a basic introduction to the city of London. It covers the main landmarks of the city and features beautiful photos of them. However, the introduction is just that-- a very basic introduction. There is one photo of each place and very limited information about them. The book would be great with more illustrations and more content; however, it is well suited to beginning readers. I received a copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are my own.

When I saw this book’s title I was like this would be a perfect read for my little one before our trip to London in spring. My daughter enjoyed this book. She visited it when she was young so I thought this would be a good read for her but I was surprised how much she enjoyed this book and recalled stuff from her last trip

This is an enjoyable book with some nice images, personally I thought that some were a bit distant and I have seen better ones. I wasn't too keen on the layout on some of the pages and thought that text could have been better placed to make the book more attractive to younger readers - 3 stars from me, I thought that the text seemed to be aimed at older children than the books target age group.

The book has nice photographs, and I think there are students who would check out this book based on its cover. I didn't see anything fresh and exciting enough about the text to award the book 5 stars however.

"Discover London" is good for what it is, an introduction to London for kids. I received the kindle version from the publishers via Netgalley in return for an honest review. Right off, I was impressed that the pictures in the book were actual photos rather than the cartoon images that I expected. And speaking as someone who has tried taking pictures in London, they were really nice shots. And I appreciated that there was a bit of history, not just highlights of the tourist attractions. There seemed to be a formatting issue with the pages in my kindle version, the narrative would be on one page but the photo was on the next. This wouldn't have been a problem except that the next description would be on that same page right after the photo so the text and photo didn't match. Otherwise, a good intro for kids, one that had me wishing I was on my way back to this lovely city.

Photographs of traditional famous places in London along with simple facts--the Thames River, Westminster Abbey, the Clock Tower (Big Ben), St. Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London, and more. An educational tool for early readers.

Felt the writing was more aimed for adults than children. Great pictures but could have been more implified on the fact its aimed at level 3 reading.

I received this book for free for an honest review.

The book is very informative. My 7 year old would like it. The pictures are good. But the formatting was a little weird in the version I got. I would check the sample and make sure it will firm at correctly on the kindle.

Discover London is a well-done and informative, nonfiction, leveled reader for young children. It includes beautiful photos of London and a wealth of information in a readable way. Any child will come away from reading this book knowing much more about the historic city.

Thank you to Juliana O’Neill, Xist Publishing, and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
