Groundhogs are a favorite animal in our family; we have so many in our area, yet we don't know much about them. This book helps to explain our neighborhood animal friends.

When I spent a summer with in Pennsylvania with my elderly mom, I became acquainted with a huge, fat groundhog she fondly called "George." I couldn't resist checking out this nice little book for kids about this curious creature. Facts, pictures, information tidbits .filled me in on everything groundhog. Nice read.

My Favorite Animal: Groundhogs by Victoria Marcos is a picture book for young children. I read this with my son who is six years old and he loved it. The pictures were wonderful and it had just enough information. I think this is a great introductory book for young children and would work perfect in conjunction with Groundhog's Day. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

Short and sweet and absolutely adorable! I loved the pictures and the interesting information about groundhogs. Good time of the year to be reading about the critter. This would be perfect for the budding animal lover. 5 stars!
My thanks to NetGalley and Xist Publishing for an eARC copy of this book to read and review.

Read this book with my nephew, we both thoroughly enjoyed it. The pictures where great and my nephew really enjoyed reading it to me. The format and font could be improved but overall would recommend this book to friends with kids and just in time for groundhog day!
Thank you NetGallery for giving me a copy of this book for an honest review.

My Favorite Animal: Groundhogs is structured for 4-8 year old readers. It contains clear, simple language coupled with large photographs of groundhogs. It tells the reader just enough information about groundhogs to pique their interest. It is an informative book, but not a particularly engaging one.
My 'favorite' fact in My Favorite Animal: Groundhogs were that they were a part of the squirrel family. I don't know why that surprised me as much as it did, but... it did. And I got a laugh out of "Gardeners find groundhogs to be destructive" because I feel like that is putting it mildly. We have a groundhog that has taken residence near our house, and it's the bane of our existence during the summer. I've actually put in fencing underneath my garden to try to keep him out of it! (PSA: He found a way around it.)
The book does what it sets out to do and would be a good asset to library shelves, but lacks a certain quality that would make me buy it for my child's home bookshelf.

Cute and informative book for kids about a native East Coast species they might see in their own yard.

This is an enjoyable book with some great images. I wasn't too keen on the layout on some of the pages and thought that text could have been better placed to make the book more attractive to younger readers - 3 stars from me

This was a cute book about groundhogs. The pictures are beautiful. The book is short and informs the child about important groundhog facts. It even has a few fun question to check the child's comprehension. This book would be great for a teacher to use in their classroom. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

This is an excellent book for the littles. whether learning about the creatures of the earth or learning to read, this book is just right - enough challenge to keep them learning, but not too much to defeat. I will want to read this and share the wonderful photos with my 3 year old great nephew when I see him next. And the photos are wonderful, bringing out the complicated personalities and colorations of groundhogs.
My favorite animal is the prairie dog, who occasionally shares his village with burrowing owls and ferrets. Just FYI.
I received a free electronic copy of this children's book from Netgalley, Victoria Marcos, and Xist Publishing in exchange for an honest review. Thank you all for sharing your hard work with me.

A photographic picture book with simple text about groundhogs (aka. woodchucks)--where they live, what they eat, how they hibernate, what kinds of sounds they make, etc. Short and educational, this book will appeal to the pre-K set.

Great book! Very interesting and informative. And great pictures!. I would absolutely buy this book for my young son.

This is a non-fiction book with some great photos and facts about groundhogs. It is geared to young children (4 to 8) so they can learn about groundhogs and it does just that. It is simple with just enough information that it will not overwhelm them. I think this is a great book and series for a school library. There are many young children who do not want to read fiction and this series would definitely give them something to read as they are developing their skills. I can see this peaking a reader's interest enough that they search and read more. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

I enjoyed learning more about groundhogs in this fun and engaging leveled nonfiction reader for kids! Around where I live, people view groundhogs as a nuisance, but I’ve always found them super cute. This was well-written with beautiful photos. A great way to introduce a new animal to children.
Thank you to Victoria Marcos, Xist Publishing, and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review.
