I had really high hopes for this book but I was kind of left with... meh. I didn't hate it, didn't love it. I'm not sure why but the main character gave me some Bella Swan vibes. A lot of young cliches but not interesting or different enough to overlook them.

I did not connect with this shy/outsider girl meets bad boy next neighbor, however, I know several of our teens will read it. There was a lot of family drama and just drama in general and the teens will eat that up. Not for me, but great for ya/teen crowd.

Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is I hate when books are ended with no ending and total cliffhanger. Especially when the reader then has to wait for resolution. That being said, I rell6 liked the story. Loved the heroine. I am curious how soon book 2 will be out? I keep looking but cannot find it.

What did I just read? Oy. So, the story could've had promise - a teen girl who feels like an outsider, trying to cope with her mother getting remarried, her weird new step-siblings, and a mysterious neighbor - but wow, this went off the rails. The writing was really stilted, the characters were all over the place, and the drama...oh the drama...so ridiculous.

I was interested to read this book from a new author. It wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible either. Give it a chance if you like YA romance. A girl, boring life. that suddenly gets more interesting with teh addition of a love triangle, what could go wrong?

This book was very disappointing. The main character Dell was a pushover and her character was very unbelievable; she was only sixteen years old yet she had three boys interested in her two of whom were older than her. Not only that, one of the love interests Ryder sexually assaults Dell yet she tells no one. I understand why she wouldn't due to the shame but the fact that nothing happens almost seems like the author is condoning this type of behaviour or at least not educating readers on what they should do if this sort of thing occurs.

Besides the romance, the plot was quite dry and slow with a lot of repetition of similar scenes especially by the creek.

Overall, this was a disappointing read with an uninspiring and naive main character as well as a slow plot.

I'm giving this 3 stars, and that's being generous. The writing feels young but there is a small twist at the end which did peak my interest at a second book. The sexual content that is mentioned in other reviews does not seem "horrible" or :"cringe-worthy" as I have seen posted in other reviews, again just my opinion. I found myself more interested in side and secondary characters more than Adelle herself.

I am always interested in reading new authors, especially when it comes to YA, romance. I thought this book description sounded promising. I barely made it through the first chapter. The writing was first-person, past-tense. It made the book feel forced and boring. I am sure the book got better but I couldn't wrap my mind around the past-tense. It was so staggering that I could not focus on the story. This books sounds like it has a ton of potential but the tense is terrible. Please change it.

I just couldn't continue with this book. I wanted to like it! The story sounded so promising. But even for a teen I think this title isn't going to be well received. The writing is poor and the details dull. There is no depth. The character describes things like her room and I realize I don't care. She isn't giving me any details or sharing emotions or anything that leads me to care. The perspective also seems to come from a place of immaturity. I am curious to see where this relationship with her friend's brother might lead, but I don't have enough interest to keep reading.

This novel is infectious and has a fun writing style that will engulf younger readers and not let them go until the last word has been read.
It makes you want to read on and makes you think about it while you aren't reading it.

This book, unfortunately, reads like bad real-life fanfiction. It portrays a self-absorbed and inconsistent underage female character that is approached by several older (18+) boys and pursues a couple of them. Not only is the sexual content explicit and involving underage characters, there are instances of assault by older men and family members that is portrayed in what I felt to be an unrealistic and almost grotesque way. It felt like all of these things were thrown at this girl just to make her life exciting or romantic, not really portraying them as actual realistic events. All of the characters were unrealistic and romanticized, again, I felt like I was reading bad fanfiction. That being said, there were some really genuine romantic moments in the book. There were times when I could relate to the main character, times when I felt like the story was real. But those moments were really overshadowed by over the top language and the amount of sexual content in the book. I was overall disappointed.

Adelle is living a normal "boring" life. Kind of like the life I lived when I was in high school. Sparkly vampires, staying in a weekend to read, monotony. But Adelle gets the one thing I didn't get out of the high school life deal, she gets a handsome, tattooed boy that moves in next door.

Dell is entranced with Max like Bella Swan was entranced with Edward Cullen. Dorkishly obsessed. Just like with Edward, Max is hiding things. Add in a soon to be stepbrother and her best friends brother and she's extremely overwhelmed. This book was pretty cliched but I couldn't stop myself from getting sucked in and really enjoying it.

I received an ARC copy from netgalley for my honest review,  so thank you netgalley and publishers for offering me this book! ♡
This story is a about Adelle “Dell” Miller is living a regular boring, vampire movie marathon, plaid shirt wearing life. She doesn’t do normal high school stuff, being shy and having no confidence doesn’t help with that either.
But all that is about to change when a new neighbour moves in. And everything around her starts to change. Hopefully for the better.
Max is the total bad boy, older, tattoos and rides a motorbike. And when Dell is around him, she can’t seem to stop talking—or staring. He makes her feel nervous and excited at the same time.
Ryder is cocky, confident, oh so gorgeous, and he knows it. As her soon-to-be stepbrother, Dell tries to get to know him, to form a relationship. But there is something dark about him that’s both alluring and a nightmare at the same time.
Then throw in her best friend’s brother, the steady and ever dependable Matt, and Dell doesn’t know how she went from vampire to three guys confusing the heck out of her.
It’s hard being a teenager, but harder when you feel like a total fool for falling for the wrong guy.
This was my first book by this author, I did enjoy it, It was fast paced just and alltogether an easy read. ♡ I give this book a
3 star rating!
