I adore this series. Veiled Magic is an urban fantasy series detailing the adventures of witch-cop Donata Santori. In this installment, Donata travels to a tight-knit Ulfhednar (shapechanger) community in Maine at the behest of her ex Magnus. According to Magnus, members of the community’s elite trainees are being haunted by the ghosts of their dead loved ones. Additionally, the Ulfhednar clan has been seemingly abandoned by Odin, their patron god. This poses a major threat to the clan and their survival. Donata’s specialized ability to communicate with the dead and deities alike becomes an invaluable commodity in the community’s search for answers.

Donata is a likeable, strong female main character. She’s still dealing with fallout from her adventures in the previous two books, however, her unique transition into Ulfhednar territory is well-crafted. Readers of this series are familiar with Magnus from previous installments. Veiled Enchantments gives us a complete view of his character and family background. And I must say, I think I’m in love. Veiled Enchantments has something for every urban fantasy fan including action, intrigue, fantasy, and romance. This book is wholly satisfying while setting the scene for future installments. Veiled Magic is an absolute favourite urban fantasy series.

Donata has had a really trying time recently. What with with one ex-boyfriend storming out of her life and disappearing and forced to murder the man she was dating after he tried to impregnate her with magical babies. Either with or without her consent. She could do with some time away. So, when Magnus, her friend, former boyfriend and Ulfhednar shifter turns up and asks her for help with a small ghost problem they are having in his small secluded town she decides to go along. Odin, their usually attentive god, seems to have abandoned the Ulfhednar in their time of need and tension is high, especially by bringing in an outsider to help. But, an outside perspective could be what they need, especially as the most logical explanations for the ghostly phenomenon seems to involve someone from within the Ulfhednar.

It's always a good sign when you pick up a book...and then what seems like 5 minutes later you are on the last page. This is exactly what happened to me with Veiled Enchantments. There could be a few reasons for this, it is a short book, barely grazing 250 pages, but I think the main reason was because I was really enjoying the story, the characters and most especially the romance.

This book felt like more of a paranormal mystery than an urban fantasy novel. Donata goes into a small town and has to solve the case where ghosts pop up at the more inopportune and dangerous times. Who could it be!? Some nasty outside force? Or an unknown and mystery person within the tight knit community?! Read to find out. I also liked the characters this book presented, mainly that of Magnus' family, they injected a lot of warmth to Veiled Enchantments and added to that cozy mystery feeling.

What I liked best about this though, as much as I liked trying to guess whodunit, was the romance. This series so far has had a bit of a love triangle going on and I thought Magnus was out of the game. Ho! How wrong I was! Magnus really shone in this book, he was gorgeous and thoughtful and Donata wasn't the only one falling in love. So, if you like your urban fantasy/mystery books to be strong on the romance front this is definitely for you.

I don't know if this is the conclusion to this series - the book had that feel - if it is, it would be a great place to stop. If not, I would be equally pleased. I like the characters in this series and each book has had a great mix of action, mystery and romance. I recommend any urban fantasy and mystery fans to pick this series up, it won't disappoint.

This series truly gets better with each book. I feel like I've really settled into the world and the characters this time around. I love Donata's character. She's come an incredibly long way from the witch we first met in book one. She's fierce and determined to do the right thing always, even when it could cost her greatly and I love her for it. She has to step up yet again in this book, and despite some pretty big opposition, she never once wavers. It made for an entertaining read to say the least.

In the previous books in the series, one of my biggest frustrations was with the romance. Over all they just weren't working for me, but I'm happy to say that the romance woes are in the rearview mirror now. Things settled greatly in VEILED ENCHANTMENTS and there wasn't any of that previous wishy washy stuff from before. That's not to say everything is sappy and perfect in Donata's love life, quite the opposite actually. It just felt more settled and building towards something rather than the tennis match back and forth of the previous books. Romance lovers should appreciate this new direction.

All in all, VEILED ENCHANTMENTS was an enjoyable installment in a series that I hope will have many more releases to come. I love Donata and the gang, and can't wait to see where things lead next.

Veiled Enchantments is book three of the urban fantasy- suspense Veiled Magic series. Like must urban fantasy, this one doesn’t work well out of order since it follows one lead character’s story through the books and builds on the plot that came before it.

Magnus was absent from book two, Veiled Menace, while off working to control his berserker nature, but happily our favorite sexy and charming berserker who knows just how to fluster a certain witch cop is back in the picture and dragging Donata off on another adventure.

She’s still shaken up after the events of the previous book so she’s not exactly in top form when she feels obligated to go help Magnus with his ghosts and god problem after he unselfishly helped her in the adventures of Velied Magic book one. People involved in the Ulf training and trials are being dangerously distracted from ghostly visitations and the Ulfnednar shapeshifters have lost contact with their patron god, Odin.

I confess that I went into this one warily after the disappointment I felt from book two. I didn’t like the see-sawing going on with Donata and the men and I couldn’t get into the overall suspense story, either. Fortunately, I wasn’t far into this one and was able to relax and appreciate all that I liked about this series in the beginning. For one, Magnus was back and it was like the story just dazzled from his presence even though the whole thing is told from Donata’s point of view and the focus is on Donata. The chemistry of the whole book was working and I felt Donata shone brighter and was more capable and stable even if she was having a tough time on this case.

Donata was strung out from what she’d just been through when Peter and Anton played tug o’ war with her even while she also secretly pined in Magnus’ absence. Now, the other two are out of the picture and she has to sort things out about her feelings once for all. She’s back to extending her focus on a challenging case for her witch skills, discovering if she can fit in with Magnus’ boisterous family, and what she really wants for herself long term since she’s accepted that she and Magnus want two different things for their lives.

It was fun entering the world of Magnus’ bear shapeshifting- berserker clan, Donata fitting in and adjusting to a very different family from her own (missed Donata’s family dinners that always end up in fireworks of the witch variety). If the berserkers didn’t do her in, she wasn’t lacking for further hostiles in the form of a vengeful Anemoi seeking the missing Anton, and a conniving head of the paranormal council who isn’t above threatening Donata to get her to spy on Magnus’ people. Oh, and then there was that interesting surprise to really get Donata’s life even more complicated.

I enjoyed the way all elements meshed so well in this one. It didn’t have the gritty quality of book one or the tempestuousness of book two, but in no way was it bland. I was engaged from the start and never lost interest through to the end. I had a good time with my restored love for Donata and her story. In a way, this one felt like the conclusion of the series, but it also left room for many more adventures for Donata. I am tickled that I can vociferously recommend this book and series to those who enjoy a bit of witch magic, some mystery, wit, and some passion in their Urban Fantasy.

I honestly don't have a whole lot of feedback when it comes to VEILED ENCHANTMENTS. I enjoyed it thoroughly, but most of what I have to say would spoil things for someone and nobody wants that. I thought Donata was appropriately apprehensive when it came to Magnus after everything she has already been through. I felt the storyline really highlighted the mysteries while also focusing on what Donata wanted in a relationship. There was a good balance.

Wow Donata and Magnus' connection really flourished in VEILED ENCHANTMENTS. I felt like I really got to know Magnus more in the environment of the book. I liked him before, but I loved him after VEILED ENCHANTMENTS.

We meet a lot of new characters in VEILED ENCHANTMENT and most take a while to really grow on you, but I really enjoyed Magnus' mother. She was so warm and loving in moments where everyone else was anything but to Donata.

I really want more Donata! I hope that this series isn't over, but if it is, it ended well.

Jumping in with both feet, I thrust myself into the Veiled Magic series with no previous experience with this world. That being said, I unequivocally loved it!

Donata is a witch and has a way with old god connections. She is asked by her ex-lover/shifter friend, Magnus, to come to his home and solve two mysteries. The first is the disappearance of their god Odin, he has not shown up when they’ve called for assistance and the second is injuries and hauntings of past loved ones that have been occurring during their Ulfhednar’s, shapeshifter, ritual game to pick the top enclave and their next leader.

The chemistry burns bright between Donata and Magnus but she is not accepted and thought as a spy by all the shifters.

Can she gain enough trust to unravel the mystery before its too late?

Holy hotness Batman, Blake truly knows how to reel her reading audience in.

More than a little time has passed since I’ve read a book by Ms. Blake, and I am sorry for that. This book was fantastic! She’s one of those authors I forget about, then read one and think why did I stop reading books by this great author? I must say upfront that I didn’t realize this book was part of a series when I started it. However, I didn’t have any problems knowing what was going on and enjoying every minute. I do admit at times I felt like I really wished I had read the previous two but just because I would have liked to have read them, not because I felt there was something I was missing. Ms. Blake has written some great characters in this book along with some great mystery, romance, action, and humor. She deftly interwove all those elements and made an extremely balanced book, both a paranormal romance and an urban fantasy. I really hope we see more of Donata, Magnus, and Magnus’ family as they were great fun. This book is not to be missed. Highly recommend! Veiled Enchantments by Deborah Blake is the 3rd book in her Veiled Magic series. Donata Santori, our heroine in this series, is a witch, who talks to the dead, and a police officer. She is coming off of a difficult case, when Magnus (shapechanger), her ex boyfriend returns to ask for her help. She hasn’t seen him since he went home to Maine to rekindle with his family. Now Magnus needs Donata’s help, since he and his fellow Ulfhednar’s are being haunted by the dead during their training. He tells her that her witch abilities would help try to find out what is happening; as well as helping them find out why Odin, their god hasn’t had contact with them for a long time.

Donata decides to take a needed break, and goes to Main with Magnus. Donata and Magnus still care for each other very much, but his family responsibilities have kept him away. Now with him bringing Donata home, she will have to face the brunt of his family and Ulfhednars who are not happy with her arrival.
Magnus’s mother welcomes her, and slowly the rest of the family will come to accept her and realize that she is the only one who could help them. Donata will meet all the members of the team who are in training to be Berserkers and protect all Ulfhednars. At first she will have a hard time getting information about the ghosts, but after some new accidents, some will open up to Donata with descriptions of what they saw.
While Donata tries to solve the problem, she will need expertise from her aunt on how to handle things that have gone wrong. There are a few surprises that Donata will have to face along the way that she did not expect. When she manages to summon Odin, and finds the truth of his not responding to the clan’s call for help, Donata will gain the respect of most of the town.

What follows is an exciting and romantic storyline that keeps our attention throughout the book. Magnus and Donata are great together, as they both love each other, but can they stay together, especially when she returns home to her job. Will love prevail?

The secondary characters, mostly from Magnus family were very likable. It was an exciting last 1/3 of the book, which I cannot tell too much more, as it would be spoilers. The truth of who is behind the ghosts, and why will be revealed. Veiled Enchantments was a fun, entertaining story, with a hot sexy couple that you can’t help but love. I am not sure if this is the end of the series, but I do hope it continues.

Veiled Enchantments by Deborah Blake is the third novel in the urban fantasy series Veiled Magic. Character growth, a surprising twist and a mystery surrounding a haunting in Magnus's Ulfhednar shapechangers community had me devouring this in a single lazy Sunday afternoon. Terrific worldbuilding, humor, and suspense with a dash of romance make this series a lot of fun.

I enjoy Deborah Blake’s writing. This new series is fun, and this installment in particular was very satisfying.
