M/F Romance
Triggers: Loss

Nikolai is kind of a manwhore. He never takes the same woman to bed, if he can help it. He is known for his indiscretions and for not truly caring what the tabloids say about him. He is used to being a disappointment. However, he also knows that he's his father's last hope for the throne. His siblings are not going to be able to take the throne and so it's up to him to marry and produce heirs.

Kate is the matchmaker who has an amazing reputation. She is hired by the king and queen to help find Nikolai's perfect match. She knows that her sister's business and her grandmother are counting on her to make this happen. Despite knowing what's on the line, she is drawn to Nikolai and can't help her attraction.

When Kate and Nikolai figure out what is most important to them, it will be a long, hard road. Betrayal, distrust, love, and heartache are all part of this love story. I truly love the dynamic between Nikolai, Kate and even X. All three are great and the chemistry between Nikolai and Kate is undeniable.

The teaser for the next story is just as intriguing and I can't wait for it. I hope that I won't have to wait too long and that we'll get to see more of Kate and Nikolai.

This book makes no sense at all, and that's what's so good about it. It's completely bonkers. After the 50 percent mark, it forgets any commitment it might have had with the real world, however feeble this may be in the average romance novel. This book is in that "so bad it's actually good" category. If you don't take it too seriously, it is really, really, really fun. The hero is a jerk, especially in the begging when you're still getting used to him and the book hasn't become crazy yet, but I overlooked that because I liked the heroine (even if she isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer). The main conflict could have been resolved by the protagonists just talking, though. BUT, as I said, it's just so fun. I recommended it to my friends already.

Kingdom of Edenvale – Present Day

Nikolai, the Duke of Westcraven and Crown Prince to the throne of the Kingdom of Edenvale, is too busy having fun with the ladies to settle down. But as his twenty-ninth birthday approaches, he learns he must marry or his family forfeits the throne. Nikolai doesn’t want to marry and will sabotage whatever plan his father and stepmother put into place. But they’ve come prepared and bring in a matchmaker, Kate Winter, to find a match for Nikolai. Of course, he’s a pain in the rear to Kate, but she’s determined to complete the job. To throw off Kate, Nikolai attacks her the only way he knows how: by seducing her.

Kate and her sister run a matchmaking company and desperately need the business because they’re also supporting their ill grandmother. Kate is fully aware that Nikolai is a modern-day rake and she tries to ward him off, but he’s too sexy. Soon, she’s under his spell and he’s ravishing her body. Kate needs to remember to do her job while Nikolai is forgetting why he should despise her.

Nikolai isn’t ready to settle down and fights the royal decree to marry, even as he discovers a deep connection with Kate in MY ROYAL TEMPTATION. But he must marry a woman with royal lineage, and commoner Kate doesn’t fit that criteria. Within minutes of meeting Kate, Nikolai has his talented fingers and mouth on her. To be honest, in this day of “Me Too” stories, Nikolai came on a bit too strong as Kate protests what he’s doing. Granted, he’s used to taking what he wants, but maybe a little more consideration of her feelings should’ve taken place.

MY ROYAL TEMPTATION is a rollicking tale, as there are scenes that are a little bit quirky (and funny), as are a few characters, such as the mysterious chauffeur, “X,” who Kate soon becomes friends with. Meanwhile, after Nikolai realizes Kate won’t easily be scared off by his caveman tactics, he begins to not only like her but experiences something else he’s never done before. Could it be…love? However, she would not be approved to marry him as per the royal laws. Is there some way to get around it?

Readers will see a lot of sex between Kate and Nikolai in MY ROYAL TEMPTATION because that is basically how Nikolai knows to connect with women. But as she pressures him to date the women she’s found for him, they also get to know one another, even as he works on annoying those pesky women. Nikolai starts out a louse, but once he begins to care for Kate, he changes to a caring man. He’s redeemed by a woman!

For readers who like royals and sexy tales, grab a copy of MY ROYAL TEMPTATION.

This is my fifth Harlequin Dare book and I'm coming to realise that the line might not be entirely for me even though I love erotic romance. For starters, I'm wondering why most of the heroes seem to be assholes and womanizers. All they seem to want to do is fuck. Sure, they do come around at some point and fall in love with the heroine, but I don't fall enough for the hero that I want to keep reading to watch him fall and redeem himself. Don't get me wrong, the stories are very well written. The authors, including this one, are all skilled writers. I can't fault the writing or the punch the writing gives, but I'm wondering why the stories seem to have such a hard, harsh edge to them. I read a few reviews that said in the previous edition of this book, the writing was choppy and inconsistent. I didn't find that to be the case here. Perhaps for this go round, further editing has been done to the manuscript. As for the sex, wow! These books are hot. I'm mean, melt your Kindle, need a fan or an ice cold drink hot. And this story is no different. It sizzles right from the get-go, although I wonder if there is ever a point where the characters build more emotional depth. In a nutshell, I struggled with this book. At first I thought maybe I was in a reading funk, but as I tried a few times to get into it, I realised it was Nikolai. I didn't like him. There wasn't much sympathetic about him even though he seemed to start to thaw towards Kate pretty quickly. There was too much of the womanizing asshole persona to him that he seemed intent on keeping in place. This is hard for me because I like the writing, I like the sub-genre and I really, really want to like the line, but so far the characters and I are not connecting. The most interesting and intriguing character was Nikolai's bodyguard X. I wanted to learn more about him.

Loved the overall idea of the book, the beginning was great and full of potential. However, towards the end the story felt flat for me. The characters were great, I just wish the author could have executed the story a bit differently. I still liked the end, will definitely be on the look out for the rest of the rest of the series!😀

Nikolai and Kate. I just simply LOVED them and this book. She's not ever going to put up with his crap and he realizes he's met his match in his feisty matchmaker. I'm intrigued by the mystery that's going to continue! Great new series!

My Royal Temptation is a modern romance with a touch of suspense and a fantasy feel. Hired by the King and Queen of Edenvale, Kate Winter is to find a bride for Prince Nikolai by his twenty-ninth birthday. Playboy Nikolai absolutely refuses to settle down, so why can’t he stop thinking about cute Kate. A cute read that you will want to read cover to cover.

I'd been on the hunt for something light to read; something short that I could devour in a matter of hours, and was pleasantly surprised when I found this on NetGalley. Unfortunately, while it was an easy read, I struggled to remain interested in the story. The biggest problem for me was that this book relied on too many cliches. I don't mind romances relying on common tropes, in fact, there are plenty of wonderful romance stories that do them perfectly. For me, relying on the tropes was this book's downfall. The story was predictable from the start, and the mystery regarding "X" was dragged out for too long.

While I can understand while some may enjoy this, it wasn't the right book for me.

Yet another manhore H! What is the attraction with that, that 99 1/2 fictional romance writers have to have the same theme over & over again?

Besides this, the story was just plain awful! The writing was bad, the characters one dimensional (except for yummy Mr X!) and the plot just unbelievable.

All in all, this book didn't work for me at all.

Sorry, this is not my cup of tea. I read the first 6 chapters and had to put it down. I didn't care for the characters or the royal garden sex, among other things. It just wasn't my kind of book. But thank you for allowing me a preview.

Actual stars...3.25

What I loved: I know it's a romance, I knew how it was going to end...but I loved that there was a bit of a plot twist that I didn't see coming from the get-go. And I love that it looks like we might learn more about X in a future book and maybe Damien.
What I liked: This was a sexy book. Not short on the sexy. This was clearly a fictitious country and I liked that there was not attempt to make it anything but fictitious.
What I hated: Hopefully in future books of this series we get more the backstory that is clearly there. And maybe that will help explain why Kate lost her sense right from the get-go. I hated that she seemed to be strong-willed and determined but caved so, so fast.
