I thoroughly enjoyed this piece of escapism and my time out from a hectic world. The story grabs you from the outset and pulls you in and the storytelling really made it worth reading. Characterisation was on point and I know I will be looking out for new publications from this author or similar in the future. A recommended read.

I have not read any books in this series. After reading this, I realized that I should have prior to reading this. I had a hard time figuring out who was who. I also had a hard time understanding what was happening. The novel starts out with the narrator being kidnapped. It took a while for me to understand who was narrating the story. The mystery itself was predictable. I am going to read the first book in the series to better appreciate this novel.

This is the first book I've read by this author. While this is book #9 in the series, I was able to jump right in and don't feel I missed anything. I enjoyed it and plan on reading the prior books. I like how resourceful Liberty Lane and her friends were to resolve the mystery.

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.

A Liberty Lane mystery investigation.

Caro Peacock takes the reader into a ninth Liberty Lane investigation. This time Liberty has taken a temporary break from her former assignments, as she is married to Robert Carmichael and they have two young children. The setting is in Victorian times in 1847.

Liberty has no choice but to return to sleuthing, due to a series of events following a very respectable dinner party in the Maynard household. Everything accelerates after this. Why does Liberty get kidnapped and what is Robert up to? Her old friends, Tabby and Amos Legge, assist Liberty in her very personal plight.

It is only towards the end that everything starts to become more obvious. The stakes are much higher than Liberty realises as an audacious plot unravels. I feel that this novel will certainly appeal to Liberty Lane followers so I awarded four stars, even though I personally enjoy something more gritty.

Galadriel.

London 1847 and Liberty Lane is attending a dinner at a townhouse when she disappears. Meanwhile her husband Robert Carmichael is sent to the Continent presumably by the kidnappers. Their friends Tabby and Amos try to determine what is happening and why.
An enjoyable mystery which can be read as a standalone story.

Caro Peacock in The Killing Site continues the adventures of Liberty Lane , detective and problem solver for Disraeli. This historical mystery opens with Liberty Lane kidnapped and her associates trying to find and rescue her. Who is plotting nefarious doings in political London? Will she be rescued in time? Will Disraeli lend a hand to stop the plot? Dizzying action at the end. Read and enjoy.
