I am a firm believer in anything that my son will read being good for him to read, but the 8-Bit Warrior series is one that I am happy he has enjoyed to date, because they are a fun read for mom as well. I've enjoyed the series and this was no exception. Fun story with a bunch of tie ins with the Minecraft game.

The thing that I am always challenged by with a son who resists reading is finding something that he enjoys, whether it's at his grade level or not. There just aren't a lot of boy-focused books and so if a video game tie in that is a bit young for him is what gets him reading, then so be it.

I will say that it is disappointing that there are not more books for boys in any age group above early readers. There are some, but for someone not interested in fantasy and mystery, the selection is limited. Video game tie ins seem to be the best we can come up with.

All that to say, my son liked the book and enjoys the series. And I've found them enjoyable too. They help me to understand what he is doing when he plays, although I still end up digging myself into a hole, literally, when I play with him.

I am not really a fan of minecraft so I could not understand some of the parts of the book. I think this is one of those books that only fans of the game would enjoy. However, I did enjoy the illustrations and the cute adventure story that it contained.

My 11 year old son loved reading this adventure. As a reluctant reader, he was engrossed throughout the book. He is looking forward to reading more in the series.

Both of my girls (9 and 11 years old) loved this book! They are huge fans of the game and enjoyed reading a similarly themed book. I look forward to more books like this. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review it.
