Ehh... not my favourite. It just felt slower paced than I usually enjoy. Normally I like a royal read but Desi was not my favourite.

This was a great story with great characters. It flowed nicely without rushing the story. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more from this author! Read it and you won't regret the time spent.

I really enjoyed this book. I was rooting for the romance the entire time. The writing wasn't the worst I've seen and the plot keep me really interested the entire time. My only issue was that there was a love triangle that was thrown into the middle of the book that I felt was completely unnecessary and took away from my enjoyment of the book just a bit.

As crown princess of Lorencia, Desi can handle other royals, dignitaries, and celebrities without batting an eyelash. But Astin Gold, the suave heir to a hotel empire? No amount of diplomatic training prepared her for him. Or the whirlwind media scandal she’s about to ignite with him. Rumors swirl, and the pressure is on to deflect the attention. But Desi’s feelings for Astin only blossom, despite allegations that he’s using her for his own gain. As she dares to date him under the radar, it becomes clear someone close to her is behind the scandal. And their secret won’t stay secret forever. As tensions rise, Desi must decide if Astin deserves her trust. And, more important, her heart.
The book was decent. The plot was not bad, it was pretty standard. I liked both main characters. It was a quick and easy read. I recommend.

It was a cute read but it was really slow going at times it's a decent read for a lazy weekend if you like a good clean royal romance. I liked the characters and the plot I just wish it had been a bit more fast paced but that might just be me.

A Royal Affair is a cute, clean royal romance. Don't dive in expecting a dirty royal story, because A Royal Affair is as clean as can be. But, it's still a fun, light read with a little mystery thrown in.

Princess Desi is the Crown Princess of Lorencia. She, her mother and grandmother make a good trio and Desi is unlike most princesses. When Astin Gold, a man she's known a long time, comes back to Lorencia to inquire about expanding his family's hotels, will she and Astin make a royal match? Or is Astin simply using her?

I'm not the biggest fan of clean romances, but here in A Royal Affair, it's not such a bad thing, as Princess Desi is a fun, cute character, and the mystery aspect is mostly enough to make up for the lack of steam. Astin isn't as interesting as Desi, but I do like the fact that this time around, the man isn't the royal who falls in love with a non-royal. If you don't mind a lack of steam, but do like cute, fun reads with a little mystery, put A Royal Affair on your TBR list today.

Desi, the heir apparent in Lorencia, falls in love with Astin Gold, but the obstacles in their path seem insurmountable. When things keep escalating between Desi and Astin will they be able to work out their issues or will the pressure be too much? Although they try to keep their romance a secret, will it all come out and who is close to the crown who is telling the secrets? The shocking ending will keep you turning the pages until the very last one.

I am on such a Royal kick lately that I can't gobble them up fast enough. The author wrote some great characters, but overall pacing felt a little stiff and slow. I loved the premise of the book, but if you're looking for some heat, this one wasn't quite that. Overall, a good book!

This book is totally not for me.
This was so dull and boring. I can’t even find what category it should be classified in.
A mix of high school crush but with grown ups characters and no drama to understand... and then no hot scenes at all... barely a peck or two during 250 pages.

I am a sucker for Royal books, so when I saw this book I had to read it.
I really liked the main character Desi, even though she is a princess
she did not have the stuck up or like royalty.
I enjoyed that this book was from a princess’s point of view for a change.
I enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more from this author.

Squeaky clean romance with a sprinkle of cloak and dagger espionage and angst…

Princess Desi is the future ruler of Lorencia and as such, has certain expectations and responsibilities. When hotel magnate Astin Gold comes back to pitch an expansion of his family’s luxury hotel, her strong and unexpected attraction causes a bit of drama in what until recently was her drama free life. Astin’s flirting and singular attention makes her giddy with self awareness but is he just flirting to butter her up and get an edge on the expansion proposal or can she trust that his attraction is personal rather than business driven?

Told via Desi’s POV, the story unfolds slowly and doesn’t pick up much in pace until the 85% mark and the ending rushes to the finish line pretty abruptly. At times I felt that more detail went into describing the scenery and architectural value of the palace/hotel/sea side home than in the characters themselves. 1st POVs are tricking because it’s hard to capture other characters’ inner workings when you only get one side of the story. In this case, we get a lot of Desi’s back and forth – should she, can she trust Astin? From her limited interactions with Astin, it’s hard to get a good read on him, other than the snippets we get from Desi. One minute he was sharing soft smiles and teasing “twinkling” eyes with her and the next, he’s cold and formal. His temperament was mercurial and I felt whiplash over how Desi perceived his moods.

When there’s a media leak and rumors involving corruption start to circulate, Desi and Astin try to play a cat and mouse game with the scandal sheets but even the mystery of who was trying to sabotage them was anticlimactic.

Would I recommend? This was 100% clean, no sex scenes (not even fade to black ones), the MCs go on a handful of clandestine dates and share a few kisses but nothing more. This seemed more of a YA read, so definitely appropriate for the younger romance readers.

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. It had a bit of everything and it ran together very well.

Wow. I love royal stories. Most are the royal and a commoner. This one however is a royal and an heir to a hotel chain. This alone make this on a different level.
The suspense of who is trying to keep the hotel expansion from happening by exploiting the princess and her life is a well written story, keeping us on our toes and guessing who the bad guy could be.

I think this was fun and well done. Keep up the great writing.

I love sweet romances that have drama but not Kardashian levels of forced drama. This book fits that to a “t”. Cute read, worth the time!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.

DNF at 41%. This book started off well enough. I'm a sucker for royalty-themed romance but characterization comes before all else for me, in any genre. I found the protagonist and characters in this novel to be dull and lacking. I couldn't see what Desi saw in Astin, and was actively rooting for her to be with the other love interest. I also thought Desi seemed quite naïve and inexperienced for a princess. This story would be nice as an airplane read or for someone looking for an easy mystery/romance, but I was left disappointed.

This was a really light and fun read. If you enjoy romance with a royal backdrop, this should be right up your alley. Princess Desi doesn't sound stuck up, or entitled, and has a close relationship with her mother and grandmother, even if she hides her romantic life from them. Astin is a likable character, even if we are supposed to find him suspicious, and and the romance isn't forced or dull. My only complaints aren't even really complaints. I find it weird that the public and palace still see Desi as young and childish despite finishing university and working alongside her mother for years, and having followed the British Monarchy, I find it weird that a Queen Regnant would have a King husband. Other than these small gripes, I completely enjoyed this as a quick fluffy read, and would be interested in the rest of the series. I do hope the series will continue with Desi, and not one of the other introduced characters finding their own romance, as I really liked her perspective and the possibilities of her story line.
