A big thank you to NetGalley for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. First time reading this author. I requested this book on a whim. Wasn't sure if I would like it, but I was pleasantly surprised.It can't be easy being a princess. It has a little of everything, intrigue, and romance. I give it a 4.

A Royal Affair was an interesting book. There was romance,and mystery to it. I liked how the story wasn't rushed and kept a constant pace.

It's a modern royalty love story with a zest of mystery.

I would have probably loved it more if I can get into Astin's head since he's an enigma, and it was just hard for me to find the chemistry. Yes, there was an attraction but the intensity was not enough to have me on the edge of my seat,

However, the mystery that surrounds about who's trying to bring scandal to Desi and the royal family is a nice plot. It makes this book interesting, and makes you want to read through, wondering who is the villain.

It was a good story, I don’t know it just lacked something for me. It was well written I just didn’t really connect well with the characters I felt no real passion or anticipation when I read about Desi and Astin. At one point I was hoping that there was going to be a 360 degree change and Demetri would actually end up being the love interest. The best parts of the story were when the main characters were outside there comfort zone.

I didn't think Astin had it in him but the man has a jealous streak, “you thought I would be happy seeing photos of you alone in a private setting with another man?” Seriously I loved seeing him all flustered, “I did not suggest you being alone with some guy who looks like a model for a romance novel cover!” I liked this book, I found both Desi and Astin to be very passionate people.

Perfect brain candy for a lazy afternoon. A sweet slow burn romance story with little angst.
