Lilah Holcutt's best friend just married into the Moreland family. Her friend is gone on her honeymoon when a few of the Moreland women are kidnapped. Lilah just happens to be at Moreland residence when they hear the news. That is how Lilah finds herself gallivanting all over the countryside on rescue missions and digging up secrets with the one man she cannot get along with, Constantine "Con" Moreland.
Con knows Lilah holds a strong dislike for him. He wished he felt the same way about her. Unfortunately, there is just something about her he can't seem to resist. Con convinces Lilah to help him with his latest investigation seeing as how her family owns the property he needs access to. What he does not foresee is that spending so much time in each other's company may just have some unexpected results.
Author Candace Camp's MAD MORELAND series is brilliant! The characters and their strange quirks only add to the excitement in each story. Although they are best read in order; MESMERIZED, BEYOND COMPARE, WINTERSET, AN UNEXPECTED PLEASURE, HIS SINFUL TOUCH; the most recent addition, HIS WICKED CHARM, is one of my faves because it focuses on one individual from the two sets of twins in the Moreland family, Constantine. I have loved the youngest twins since book one, especially Con. His story is a lot of fun. Fans of the MAD MORELAND series will not want to miss HIS WICKED CHARM!

Con and Lilah are explosive. This story is full of sizzling passion, mystery, adventure and danger. This whole series is an auto buy for me, and this newest one may be my favorite.
The characters are delightful. the Mad Morelands are amazing each and every one. So many wonderful people in one family. Con is no exception. How I loved him! One of the best things about Candace's writing is the familial relationships. I absolutely adore watching all of the siblings interact with each other in such an effortless, familial way. It is not often that an author so well conveys family ties.
Lilah is everything prim and proper. I knew from the moment we met her in Sabrina and Alex's story that she was meant for Con. It was written in the stars! They are amazing together.
The story is a total page turner. Seemingly innocent details dropped along the way lead to a shocking conclusion of the mystery. Once started, this book was impossible to put down.

I love this Candace Camp series! All the books are good, I really enjoyed this one. There was some good suspense and great romance in this title. Highly recommended.

I loved Lilah and Con's story!! I knew when reading the previous book in the series that Camp would probably pair these two together and I'm so glad that she did~
While all of the Mad Moreland stories had some elements of the supernatural, this one had a bit more than the others (so be prepared!). I have to say that I loved Lilah and Con and all the bantering they did! I was often laughing out loud at their conversations. Even when they were pretending to dislike each other, you could practically see the attraction that was between them. Loved it!!
I can't wait to see what Camp has in store for us next!

it was amazing
Its a buy buy buy buy buy book! This is more like what I expect from this author. She is so incredibly talented. This book just keeps you wanting more and more and more. I absolutely positively adored her characters. I love her story line and the way she has written adventure, mystery, passion and romance. It is scattered and intertwined all the way through out this story. She is one of the greatest romance authors of our time and it shows in this novel. I was totally engrossed and kept that way from page one until the very end. It made me go into my library and see what other books I own in this series so that I could read them all again. I must say for a great read you need to buy this book. If you have never read any of the other in this series that is okay for this one can stand by itself. However, I would suggest you do yourself a gift and buy the others when you can and enjoy them also! I was given this book in return for an honest review. Regards, Anna

I wanted to like this story as I love the Victorian era, however I struggled all the way through. There were elements, within this book that would really work if they were clarified and worked on by a good editor, but at this point they are flat and two dimensional, grammatically problematic, and confusing. For example, the two main chacters, have no depth. The reader isn't give the full name of the male lead or his title for several chapters which is disconcerting and confusing to the reader. The female lead is is too flat to like or dislike. I just didn't care. As a new reader to this series and author, I don't have the back story presume by this book, so I was lost a lot of the time. I would only recommended this book to someone who does not care about the lack writing complexity of a reader who knows the back story.

Delightful story - interesting characters - suspenseful and romantic. Loved it!

Lila and Con are very different, at least the outer personas are very different. But would a staid, proper rule-follower really join a purported rake to chase kidnappers? Would a libertine, rake and jokester really be so concerned about those around him? If you have not read the Mad Moreland series you need to start. Certainly you may enjoy them more by reading in order, but don't let that stop you from picking up the latest installment.
