The ravenous monster eats everything in its path including apples, leaves, trees, and cows. Overcome with a bellyache, the monster is unable to eat the reader. The colors are bright and the full page spreads are filled with trees and animals to pore over. This book might be too scary for young audiences and would not alleviate a child's fear of monsters.

An enjoyable monster book with eye-catching illustrations.

I really enjoyed the illustrations as did my daughter. She is the sort that likes Captain Underpants and any books which joke about gross bodily functions. This book opens on a nice forest scene with cows and apple trees and then you purportedly wake up the monster because you weren't quiet enough. A couple pages in, all the apples disappear and then all the trees disappear and so on until there is nothing left but you and the monster. However, the monster is quite full so when he attempts to eat you he makes himself sick and vomits up all the other stuff. This is handled well, it's not all gross and slimy. The trees and little animals are all back on the page, just in the wrong places.

Please note, this was originally published in France and then later translated to the English version. Whenever you come across a beautiful picture book with somewhat strange text, you can pretty much bet that it is a translated book. The text isn't bad, but, if you read a lot of picture books you can tell that it is a translated book. Unfortunately that may hold some back from enjoying this as much as I'm sure it is enjoyed in the original language.

I thought the book was a lot of fun and I don't think my daughter would have ever been frightened of it, but, she did enjoy monster books from a very young age. I really, really liked the illustrations. They are just charming; I adore the little cows, particularly on the page where they are all that is left and the little fellows range in emotion from apathetic to terrified.

This was weird book. It may be a little scary for small kids but if they like monsters they may enjoy this.

While the illustrations in Beware the Monster were engaging and intriguing, the story line fell short for me. The monster is a little too frightening for a young audience and the plot line didn't seem to flow well. It just seemed a little off to me.

I sooooooooo want to read this at story time. We would have so much fun. It would be a new favorite. You have to beware the monster. He will eat, the apples, the trees, and maybe even you!

This is a book you want to read to any child who is afraid of monsters, especially if they think they are under their bed or in their closet. This monster is so hungry that he eats everything in his path, until ...... This is a cute book with a surprising ending. Lots of detailed illustrations that will elicit lots of conversation.

This type of picture book - interactive and silly - is right up my family's alley. We absolutely adore books in this micro-genre, descending into fits of giggles after every repeat read.

And it is very silly. The monster mentioned in the title is very hungry and the reader had best beware. The illustrations are bright and colorful, with clean lines. My sons and I all loved the aesthetic of the book. Some of the writing was a bit confusing - random animal sounds interjected and I couldn't figure out from whom or why - but the basic premise of the book is a fun, quick read.
