The interesting and well-developed characters in this book focused illustrates that although family drama can shape a person's life it also gives one the strength to become better because of it.

I was actually excited to dive into The Cactus as it seemed like one of those quiet, introspective books where I could relate to the character. However, as I tried with this one, I just could not get into it. I wasn't a fan of Susan and never connected to her. The writing is well done, but the story is just not for me.

Can't review because somehow it did not turn up when I downloaded all the other books which had an archive date of 6 march.

Sometimes a cactus blooms, and it’s lovely to see the cactus that is heroine, Susan Green, bloom into a beautiful flower during the reading of this charming book. Some novels are full of sweetness, okay, a bit predictable but such a delightful read that it’s certainly something that should be put on your summer reading list.
I loved the setting in England and the changing social climate that deals with unwed motherhood. That is one of the themes that will generate great book group discussions.
I found this a throughly enjoyable book and wish happiness to the lovable band of characters that Haywood has so warmly created.
