Kelli María Korducki's HARD TO DO is an interesting look at breakups — how they rose in prominence as cultural norms changed and divorce became more common, and how a breakup can be a feminist act. I was expecting this to be a bit more of a cultural history than it is, but Korducki has an assured, warm writing style and clearly made an effort to include diverse women in this (so, it's not just about a trend that only applied to white upper middle-class women). A quick read, but full of thought-provoking tidbits!

The author begins the book with her own break up and proceeds to look at the history of relationships from a feminist point of view. She explores how society often forces women to stay in relationships and as women gain more rights they are more prepared to leave relationships that do not feel right. This is a short book and the author does a good job of staying on topic. The book will have you looking at relationships in a new way. It is a quick and interesting read.
