Dangerous Witness is a second chance romance. The story is what you read is what you get.
Katie Reus books kind of go one way or the other for me. This book while I loved that Darcy and Brooks were up front with everything it just feel short in areas.
The pacing of the story isn't quite right but I can't put my finger on it.
The secondary characters which have already been introduced are back and fun to catch on up. The relationship between Brooks and his father is a nice twist so it isn't all 100%romance with a little suspense.
Reader of Katie Reus will love this addition and I will admit while it wasn't perfect I found myself loving the story.

Boy did Brooks need to do some groveling! When all you've known is women who only want you and your father for your money, it explains why Brooks messed up with Darcy when he believed she took money from his father to leave him. I love that she didn't defend herself and told him to take a hike. As much as I love a strong Alpha Hero, I enjoy the strong heroines just as much.

Second chance can be iffy for me because of what causes a break up in the first place. Thankfully what Brooks did was forgivable. With his and his fathers past of dealing with gold diggers. It's easy to see why Brookes reacted first. I'm not sure why his father didn't clear up that she never took the money, but I'm glad Brookes stayed celibate during their 7 month separation.

Darcy was the perfect blind of an independent women with self respect but also a soft side. I like that while Brooks stepped in to help protect her, she didn't go against his safety advice just for spite. She also didn't let him get away with anything either.

I like that the author tied the plot to what happened in book 1 while keeping it fresh. The action was exciting and had me on the edge a few times. I love all the players in this series and look forward to each character getting their own book. Katie Reus writes her characters maturely without all that unnecessary drama. I can't get enough of her books! ARC provided by Netgalley.

Such an interesting story! There is suspense, regret, longing and danger in this action packed story line. The characters are determined individuals that have great interactions throughout. I never miss reading books by this author, I know I am in for a fantastic adventure!

Brooks Alexander made the biggest mistake of his life when he walked away from Darcy, and he knows it. He didn’t have the full story and jumped to conclusions, breaking the heart and trust of the only woman he wants.

Darcy hasn’t gotten over the hurt Brooks caused when he didn’t trust her, but she has tried to put him in her past. Her wedding planning business is growing steadily and keeps her from dwelling on her own heartbreak, too much. When she overhears a conversation that puts her in danger, she has nowhere to turn except to the man who broke her heart.

I love the way this story jumps right into the action and suspense while also building the chemistry and connection between Brooks and Darcy. Though they had been together before, they needed the time to build a bridge over their past. I felt like maybe some of their history had played out in a previous Redemption Harbor book (I haven’t read book 2) but enough of their history was recounted here that I didn’t feel like I missed anything. It was more a sense that events were already in motion.

The connection between them rebuilds in an organic, if abbreviated, manner. But part of what I love about romantic suspense is that the strong sense of danger amplifies all emotions and characters fall faster and harder. Because these two were involved in the past, their speedy time frame fits even better.

This book was filled with danger and suspense, forgiveness and second chances. It had me turning pages as fast as I could, completely engrossed in the agitation of what would happen if the danger caught up to Darcy. The Redemption Harbor Consulting crew is back, with some great interaction between all the men, as well as Olivia, Valencia, and Skye. This is a tight-knit group of friends that works hard and loves harder.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This story is a part of a series but can completely be read standalone. My first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. I haven’t read the previous books in this series but still enjoyed this one .

A beautiful second chance love story, with enough suspense and action to keep me intrigued and balance it out. Due to misunderstanding Brooks and Darcy broke up and Brook regrets his mistake of letting Darcy go. The story was entertaining and well paced , loved Darcy and so glad she didn’t give in to Brook and let him off the hook . Totally enjoyed this story and I can’t wait to read more books from this author. The book has all the elements of a perfect story. A must recommend!

Seven months earlier, Brooks Alexander assumed the worst about the woman he loved, Darcy, causing him to end their relationship. Now that he knows the truth, he's determined to make things right with her. Only Darcy is quite ready to forgive Brooks for assuming the worst about her and wants to stay away from him. But when she overhears a conversation about a potential bombing, she needs help and turns to Redemption Harbor Consulting, a company co-founded by Brooks and his friends to help people in trouble.

I liked Brooks and his determination to protect Darcy. He genuinely feels bad about the assumption he made about her and the harsh way he treated her, and he wants nothing more than to make it right. At the same time, I liked that Darcy didn't immediately cave to his attempts to make things right. While she was willing to forgive him, she wasn't willing to forget and she didn't make it easy for him. Darcy is a strong character, not willing to back down or run away from the danger she was in.

It was great to see all of Brooks' friends and co-workers rally around Darcy to keep her safe. Not only because it was their job, but because they knew how much she meant to him. They accepted her into the group without hesitation.

If you're looking for a good romantic suspense, Dangerous Witness is definitely for you. Well-written with an enjoyable storyline, it has plenty of suspense to keep readers engaged and wanting more. I'm looking forward to reading more about the characters from Redemption Harbor.

Title: Dangerous Witness
Series: Redemption Harbor Book #3
Stand Alone Title: yes
Author: Katie Reus
Genre: Romance, Romantic Suspense, Contemporary
Blurb: He foolishly let her go…

When the woman he loved walked out of his life, Brooks Alexander was certain she did so willingly—with the cool two-million his father had offered as incentive to walk away. So when he learns that Darcy didn’t take a dime of his father’s payoff, Brooks realizes he made an epic mistake. He’s determined to make things right and reclaim his woman. Except neither task is as easily accomplished as he first thought.

Now her life is in his hands…

Wedding planner Darcy is no stranger to disappointment when it comes to the men in her life. When Brooks accused her of taking his father’s bribe, she was devastated that he thought so little of her—and realized he never knew her at all. So she walked away with her pride intact and her heart broken. Now, months later, an overheard conversation puts Darcy in the crosshairs of a dangerous criminal with powerful connections. With nowhere else to turn, she has no choice but to put all her trust in Redemption Harbor Consulting—and its cofounder, the man who broke her heart.
Favorite quote(s): I’m more confused than a chameleon in a bag of Skittles.
Thoughts: I have been eagerly awaiting Dangerous Witness since the last book in this series. I LOVED book two Savage Rising, and it is still my favorite in the series – and even one of my favorites from Reus, even though I adore all her books. Dangerous Witness gives us the story of Brooks and Darcy, and boy, does Brooks have some amends to make. It was kind of cute seeing him scramble to try to win Darcy over, when he knows how bad he screwed up. Poor Brooks is in the dog house with the love of his life and it’s slow going for him to win her over – eventually Darcy comes around and things start to steam up. The ‘danger’ element of this one didn’t keep me on my toes as much as the usual suspense from Reus, seemingly rather like a side note to the story. We also have a few characters (potential next book) that have a scene or two randomly thrown in that weren’t quite as smoothly interjected as I would have liked. The characters and the romance made up for it though.
As always, a solid hit from Reus and a great addition to this series! Thoroughly enjoyable!
Rating: A
Other books in this series: Resurrection (Book #1) and Savage Rising (Book #2)

Dangerous Witness, Redemption Harbor Series,  Katie Reus

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: Romance

I do love Katie Reus writing, and this was another fun read. Its book three in the series, but its a stand alone so if like me you haven't read books one and two you'll still be able to keep up easily.

Its a classic case of the guy having been bitten once being determined not to get caught again. He should have known Darcy better though....
I love Darcy, got some great friends and she was so in love with Brooks, and he with her, so she thought. So how, just how, could he believe she'd take the money? That hurts and makes her think she didn't know him after all. She got on with her wedding planning business in the succeeding months, and tried to move on but the hurt is there, feelings just can't be switched off like that. I can understand how she'd feel, she must have been devastated at being thought a gold digger.
Brooks could kick himself now he knows the truth – and realises just how badly he effed up. Will Darcy forgive him? He still loves her, she's the only one for him but can they get past his betrayal and lack of trust? It was a stupid mistake but a huge one, and one that he should never have made.
He's got a chance now though to try yo get her to forgive him, when her business puts her in danger, very serious danger. Of course his primary motive is her safety, and with him and his friends being in the security business they're the people to see to it, but it does give him an excuse to spend time with her without her telling him to get lost. Lets face it, that's the reaction most of us would have at first if we were in her circumstances. We might want him back but the hurt....its not easy to get past, and a simple “sorry I got it wrong” just won't cut it.
From then on its solid suspense, lots of action, played out in a realistic way, ( to someone who doesn't know the realities of the security business of course!) and with some serious heat in the romance side too.

Stars: Five, a fun and rewarding romance, with some interesting suspense.

3.5 “His love for her had never died.” Stars

Book 3 in Katie Reus’ Redemption Harbor series brings us Brooks and Darcy: a couple who broke up over a misunderstanding and whose second chance comes when Darcy finds herself unwittingly involved with the bad guys after accidentally overhearing something she shouldn’t have.

“She was his to protect. From any and all threats.”

Brooks loves Darcy and Darcy loves Brooks but he broke her heart and as such their reconnection starts with baby-steps. But once the action starts kicking off and emotions are heightened they’re soon reminding each other of what they’ve lost.

“He wasn’t perfect; no one was. But he was perfect for her.“

Dangerous Witness fell into the liked as opposed to loved category for me—I appreciated how there were no games between Darcy and Brooks but in comparison to its predecessors this was overall a slower burn read and did hit a bit of a lull in the middle for me. But with the secondary characters ever present, the path has certainly been paved for more from the ladies and gents at Redemption Harbor Consulting.

4.5☆
This was a very enjoyable story. That really drew me in, as there was plenty of suspense pockets of action and parts that had me on the edge of my seat.

Plus it was extremely well paced, and full of great characters. Including the main two Brooks and Darcy and I enjoyed the romance that developed between them. Which had a nice second chance vibe to it.

And I really can't wait to read more from this series in the future, I'd also happily recommend Dangerous Witness to others. As it really was a great read.

Dangerous Witness is the first book that I've read in the Redemption Harbor series and I can't wait to go back and read the first two books. I love that Brooks was so protective of Darcy and that she made him work to redeem himself. I hope Gage and Nova's story is coming soon!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy provided by NetGalley.

I really liked this one. It a complete standalone and there is no need to read the two before this one to start. I didn't get a chance to read book 2, but I'm glad I wasn't lost. This mainly had the suspense/action in this book with a small amount of romance. All I can say is that I can't wait for (which I hope is the next installment)Nova and Gage's story, their banter is off the charts.

I like every book of this author. It doesn’t matter if it’s romance, paranormal stuff or suspense. This one is the third book of the Redemption Harbor Series. It can be read as a standalone, even though characters from previous books reappear in this one. We got a glimpse of Brooks and his difficult relationship with his father in the previous book, Savage Rising, which made me want to read his story sooner rather than later.
It started right in the middle. Well, not exactly in the middle, but just the prologue had me on the edge and waiting for what would happen and how Brooks and Darcy would find each other. From there on the story unfolded perfectly.
I really liked that Darcy gave Brooks a hard time and didn’t melt to a puddle, even if she wanted to. She made him hash out the problems that kept them from coming together for the second time. I really liked that they talked about their problems.
The “case” was exactly my style. The right amount of suspense and mobsters thrown in the mix, yet I never doubted that the good guys would win. It was exactly what I like in my suspense books.
The writing style was easy to read, as usual. It supported the story and there were no plotholes or difficult words that would have stopped me in my reading. Instead I flew through the story, because it was just so easy to read without being simple. The characters and emotions were portrayed perfectly in a way that made everything play out in my imagination.
I recommend this book to everyone who likes a bit of suspense in their romance and liked the Red Stone Security Series.

Another winner from Ms. Reus. A second chance romance with murder, bombings, weddings and kick ass heroes and heroines. All of that screams “read me”. Seeing how the relationship went from fairytale to “what the hell” to trust was wonderfully romantic. The non-stop action took us on another wild ride with these men and women from Redemption Harbor Consulting. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Reus’ books, at least two more in this series…hopefully.

This was the first book that I've read in this series, although I've read others by Katie Reus before. Darcy was independent and had a good head on her shoulders; I'm glad she didn't let Brooks off the hook too soon. And Brooks was an idiot, even though it was partially understandable. I'm happy that he realized his mistake, although it would have been nice if he'd figured it out on his own. I like these guys who walk the edge of the law. I hope there's more soon!

Action romance at its best. Brooks Alexander made a huge mistake when he accused wedding planner Darcy Cooper of being paid off by his father. He thought he was doing the right thing, he thought she’d betrayed him, and now he’s paying the price. Now he knows the truth he’s willing to do anything to get the only woman he’s ever loved back into his life and back into his bed, for good. Although Darcy is still deeply in love with Brooks she is not going to let him back into her life with just an apology, he hurt her too deeply for that. However when her life is threatened and she doesn’t know who she can trust, Darcy turns to the one man she knows will be able to help her, Brooks. A fantastic story that had me hooked, action, suspense and romance with some truly interesting characters. A series I could definitely get behind. My only gripe, and this is purely personal, I’m not a fan of third person point of view so I did struggle in the first few chapters while I adjusted to the writing, however the storyline soon got rid of any doubts I may of had. I was provided with an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.

When Brooks’ father admitted to offering Darcy two million dollars to walk away, Brooks assumed the worse and destroyed everything he had built with her. Now that he knows the truth he longs to make things right but he’s hesitant to hear the word no. However, Darcy overhears a conversation that puts her life as well as others on the line and she is in need of help. The police can’t be trusted so she turns to Savage, Brooks’ coworker at Redemption Harbor Consulting. That’s all it takes for Brooks to push his way back into her life and hopefully this time for good.

Darcy is sweet and caring and despite being scared out of her wits concerning what she overheard, she stays strong and perseveres until the bad guy can be taken down. Brooks is a take charge alpha that suddenly finds himself a little off balance as he insists on protecting Darcy even as he apologizes for his past actions.

The action in this book was worthy of nail biting. So much suspense as Brooks and his team race against time to help bring down a web of villains, each caught in the others trap. Along the way he’s trying to protect Darcy and I was turning the pages as quickly as I could.

While this certainly hits the thriller mark, the romance felt as though it were running in the background. There were a lot of scenes where this couple were not together or where other characters were the main focus. However, when they were the focal point the words flew and the story soared. And the steam factor between these two is enough to singe your Kindle. Let me also add that any hero who would do what Brooks does in order to insure Darcy’s protection will always rate high on my protective alpha hero chart.

This is an honest review of an advanced copy provided by the author.

Huge, huge fan! This is one of my favorite books of this series (hmm, I may have said that before), but it seems each book and each couple get better and better.

There are so many great characters in this book. But Brooks is one of my favorites. Darcy is a strong woman and she has to be with her background and her problem in this book.

Alpha males, strong women, and strong storyline all make this one of the quickest and best reads so far for 2018.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Dangerous Witness (Redemption Harbor #3) by Katie Reus... this is the 3rd Redemption Harbor book I've read and I have loved them all. Thank you #NetGalley for letting me preview this book. I always had a crush on Brooks and was so happy to read his story ... and Darcy is perfect for him. Getting to spend some time with the other members of REDEMPTION HARBOR CONSULTING and see what is happening in their lives. As with the other books there is plenty of action, laughs, good loving and some new characters to give you ideas of who with be the stars of the next book.....Gage and Nova? ...Leighton and Hazel? I can't wait to find out. Great job again Katie Reus...
