Grant MacDara is still grieving for his lost love and family. Set to the future with the rest of his clan he is trudges through each day remorseful and resentful. Joanna Martin has been burned before and has emotional walls and barriers up high, men are not allowed. The two have pasts they cannot forget but both need to learn to trust so they can love and live. Great story with a great inner dialogue. Grant is a commanding man, just the man who Joanna needs to live. Joanna is a strong woman who balances Grant. The two together are magical. I really enjoyed this read.

I absolutely love the MacDara's! Grant and Joanna are wonderful together, once she starts to trust again. The storyline has some humor, some sadness, and some hotness!! Can't wait for the next story!

I am voluntarily submitting my honest review after receiving an ARC of this ebook via NetGalley.

After reading Sadie's Highlander, I was somewhat apprehensive about Joanna's Highlander, but my expectations were far exceeded with this installment in the series. The convoluted plot twists and turns that dominated the first story have been simplified, making this book much more coherent and allowing the romance to shine through unhindered. The matchmaking grannies provide lots of comic relief and laugh-out-loud fun that keeps the story light and entertaining without being too distracting from the serious nature of the feelings developing between the two main characters. While I had already read Sadie's Highlander, this book easily stands on its own. The paranormal elements of the novel, while major and very significant to the plot, are not so pervasive that suspension of belief is required at every turn in order for the book to still be enjoyable. I was thoroughly entertained throughout the novel and read the entire book in a single sitting. I would recommend this book to anyone with a love of all things Scottish, particularly hot men in kilts!!!!

Author Maeve Greyson has a second story in her time travel series "Highland Protector" called “Joanna’s Highlander”. With its quirky humor and funny dialogue and full of kilts the story is about the second MacDara son and his forever love.
Grant MacDara has grieved the loss of his love and unborn child since being transported on the day of their death to the future with his family by the goddesses to continue to protect the Heartstone. Now, 16 years later, he is ready to let the past loss go. After over a year and a half of planning and flirting with Joanna Martin, he is determined to woo and win her for his own.
Joanna Martin, who owns a tour company with her best friend, and not withstanding a meddling tour group of female senior citizens, has decided that after flirting with Grant for the longest time that she may be the one to make the first move. But it is hard for her to let go of her past when she seems to fall into bad relations as with her last ex who ruined a promising career and her working reputation.
Even with the blessings of the goddesses and the Heartstone, this couple will need to both let go of their past pains and compromise to find what each means to the other.
A HEA story that could be read as stand-alone. With a lovable kid, hilarious seniors and loving, caring family members this was a great read.

Another terrific story in the Highland Protector series. Maeve Greyson does and excellent job writing about ancient Scots in modern times. Her characters are fully developed and she combines the paranormal aspect of her story with the reality of today in a believable plot. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Joanna's Highlander is a wonderful, feel good story from the author of Sadie's Highlander, Maeve Greyson. Another fun story, Joanna is a young entrepreneur who is trying to make a go of a travel group in North Carolina. Specifically, she has a group of elderly knitting buddies who she is taking to tour Highland Life and Legends, a theme park on Highland life run by the McDara clan, who have some secrets of their own. The knitting group seems intent on matching her with single Grant McDara, a braw Highlander from the clan. Joanna is attracted to Grant, but with her past history, is not willing to go out on a limb and open herself up to love, and Grant is of the same mind. Dinna fash, lassies...this novel is a great read...you won't be able to put it down! Enjoy!

I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest opinion.

The MacDara's, keepers of the Heartstone. It is part of a series but is definitely a standalone book.

Sixteen years ago, Grant MacDara lost the woman he loved and thought he would be with forever and still carries the guilt. Since then he has sworn off love.

Joanna was a Pharmaceutical Rep, the top in her company. She had everything she wanted. Then she found out the relationship she was involved in was all a lie and when scandal broke she was made the scapegoat and fired.

Joanna has moved to Maryland and started a touring company with her friend. Everything they have is tied up in it's success. She leads tours at the theme park Grant and his family run. They know each other and yes...there is the attraction.

Grant has decided to "woo" her and has been for a year, he is tired of waiting.

Can Grant convince Joanna that she is his true mate? That it was fate that brought them together?
Will the Heartstone confirm that and will Joanna be able to accept it? Most importantly, can they both put the past aside to have a future?

I really liked this story. I love the whole premise of the MacDara's being the keeper of something as important as the Heartstone, as they have for centuries. They are a good family and far from perfect.

Grant and Joanna finally get together....with the aid of a group of Senior citizen's that are on Joanna's tour. They are hysterical and put Joanna through the wringer. A form of redemption comes for Joanna though and she must make a choice about this relationship. At one point I wanted to shake Joanna and Grant both.

As I said, this is a great story and I look forward to more!!

If you love time travel books then this one is for you.
I absolutely loved the chemistry between these two characters. Grant a ancient sexy Highland Warrior and descendent of the first Druids, has been commissioned by the Goddesses to protect the sacred Heartstone at all cost.,even traveling through time to the 21st century. Joanna is a big city girl that runs away from not only an abusive relationship but from herself to end up in a small town. Joanna and Grant have danced around a chemistry to finally collide despite Grant being anachronistic and Joanna...

5stars!! Joanna's Highlander is a fantastic romance with a time-traveling Celt. I totally enjoyed this story from start to finish. I'm not a big fan of time-travel romances but I am certainly glad I read this one Joanna is smitten with Grant as soon as she sees him. Will Grant give Joanna a chance? Love is certainly in the air.

Save us all from matchmaking grannies and men in kilts! This was a great, fun read with an inventive story line that had me loving the characters, the setting and did I mention there are men in kilts?

The MacDara clan has traveled in time to protect the Heartstone. In their original time, Grant was in love with a woman who was bearing his child. The Heartstone had not given the couple its blessing, much to Grant's dismay. The day that they made the leap to present time their keep had been attacked and Grant's woman and child had been killed.

Joanna works as a tour guide for groups coming to visit the MacDara family's theme park, Highland Life and Legends. During the time that she has been working as a guide, she has met and flirted with Grant. Grant has been doing his own flirting right back. Enter the group of knitting grannies intent on matchmaking Joanna and Grant - and Grant is willing to take all the help he can get!

I loved the hijinx of the grannies, the little smart-mouth remarks that Joanna comes up with and all of Grant's attempts to get Joanna to claim him. Grant had his work cut out for him since not only does he have to win the girl but he also has to convince her that he traveled in time. I am dying to meet more the MacDara clan and can't wait to see who they all end up with.

Did I mention the kilts?

3.75 Stars
A time-traveling Highlander and a contemporary woman heat it up in the hills of North Carolina in this fun romance. This is the second book in the series, but the only one I've read (easily a stand-alone read). The characters are likeable (I enjoyed the little old ladies and Tyler a lot), and the backstory is interesting. I look forward to reading the next one (and hopefully Lucia and a Scotsman will have their own story soon).

Joanna''s Highlander is a magical world of time traveling Highland Warriors and weaves a spell of romance dancing tenaciously around the chemistry between Joanna and Grant.

I absolutely loved the chemistry between these two characters. Grant a ancient sexy Highland Warrior and descendent of the first Druids, has been commissioned by the Goddesses to protect the sacred Heartstone at all cost.,even traveling through time to the 21st century. Joanna a fiesta big city girl runs away from not only an abusive relationship but from herself to end up in a small town. Joanna and Grant have danced around a chemistry to finally collide despite Grant being anachronistic and Joanna being irresolute.

If you plan on reading Joanna's Highlander would definitely recommend reading the other books in the series 1st. I think it would shed some light on this book. And some of the other characters.

Grant is very vested in wooing his woman, “a MacDara always puts his lady first and ensures she’s well pleased.” He proffered his hand toward the porch and smiled. “After you, m’lady.” Grant's mama is a fierce woman, "...she poked Grant with her elbow and gave him a serious scowl. “Don’t screw this up, boy.” Grant knows how to admit to his faults, “ye’ll find I’m a verra selfish man, Joanna, and I’ll ne’er share ye with anyone or anything.” I really liked this book, I am loving this series.

I love this series, and I really liked Joanna for him. Such a sweet romance and some HOT scenes that I was a little surprised by. I was curious how he would convince her of where he's from but I think that it worked out in the best way it could have.

My attention was captured from the first pages of Joanna’s Highlander and the discussion of her tata’s. Joanna’s merry band of touring, female octogenarians, who keep trying to set her up with Grant, have you laughing at their antics and ability to listen through walls for naughtiness. Not only are they trying to get Joanna and Grant together, it seems as though his family is assisting, too.

The time travel aspect only adds to this entertaining tale of the Protectors and their need to protect the Heartstone for humankind. The kilted Grant, who knows how to flag down a bus in true Scottish style, believes in planning the wooing of his woman. It took him a year and a half of circling Joanna before he finally decides it is time. Grant follows his Scottish heritage of how to make a woman his, once he decides it is time to do so.

At first, Grant does not want a permanent relationship. He loved once and lost his betrothed and their child. Joanna has a bad relationship in her background. Her former lover beat her and caused her to lose a great job, thus the touring business. These two have a lot to over come as far as building a permanent relationship. They hit it off physically very well.

Joanna’s foster sister has a precious son, Tyler, who decides he is the man of the house and is going to protect Joanna, as well as, his own mother. He keeps everyone on their toes.

This is a great addition to the Highland Protector series and worth your time for a good read. Ms. Greyson makes sure each of her books are different, but still connected.

it was amazing

GREAT READ! NOT GOOD READ! BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY! If I could give 10 stars I would!
WOW! What a wonderful story. I loved the characters, the plot, the way it unfolds. I love the humor, the passion, the romance. This author is one of the best I have read in some years. Her imagination is so wonderful that even with only the small amount of paranormal the rest just is enchanting. I absolute adore this book and to me it is a KEEPER! I would of thought in this series , that it would as many do, just be so so. She has amazed me making this book even better then the first in many ways! From the first page you will be totally hooked. *Caution......do not be drinking anything as you start reading**** I laughed so hard I cried. I smiled, I became angry at an allusion to another fortunately not active character. I was so wonderfully touched by each part of this story that I could not and can not say enough. Witty, funny, passionate, romantic, touching, compelling, enthralling and captivating!. You name it and this book deserves the name if it is positive! While I was given this book in return for an honest review via NetGalley, I will also be purchasing the book! I absolutely adored it! All opinions are my own, they are voluntary as well as what I truly think of the work. Buy the book, and enjoy! Regards, Anna
