Thanks to @netgalley and @stmartinspress for my advanced copy of #bringmeback by @baparisauthor

Finn and Layla are on vacation when they stop at a rest stop. Finn leaves Layla in the car but when he comes back she’s not there. Fast forward about a decade and Finn is now engaged to Layla’s sister Ellen. Everything seems to be going well for them until small disturbances begin. Is Layla back? Is someone playing games with Finn? As the story progresses we learn what happened that night, before the disappearance and after. Told in varying perspectives and in different time frames.

I read such great reviews for this book and I really wanted to like this one but I just thought it was ok. For me a good mystery leaves me waiting to the very end but this one not so much. I didn’t get it all right so there was a little mystery but I was hoping for more. I guess my biggest problem that it was a little cheesy and unbelievable. I liked it enough where I think it would make a good lifetime movie but not to the point where I would read it again.

This book releases June 19th check it out and form your own opinion.

If you enjoyed Behind Closed Doors and The Breakdown, you'll love this one. The story held my interest, it's suspenseful and a great page-turner.
I can't wait for the next B.A. Paris book.

Do thrillers have a problem with women? Do they have a problem with mental illness? How about both?

It's impossible for me to discuss this book without putting that out there. This review will be fairly spoiler-rific, because so much hinges on that ending, one that was unfortunately all too predictable and all too common.

I'd love it if thrillers didn't further victimize women already. I understand there's a certain excitement in the stereotype of the crazy ex, the one whose motives are impossible to guess because she's just that much of a loose cannon. But it's 2018, and haven't we moved past that? Apparently not.

Perhaps it would be more bearable if, a la Gone Girl, both parties came off equally bad. Don't get me wrong- both Finn and Layla come off as being far from shining stars. Finn, I thought, was by far the worst, but the book seems rather quick to cover up problems that should give any young woman pause, from unpredictable anger resulting in violence to jealousy and mood swings. I would say it's a matter of perspective, but more than half the book is Finn's point of view, with the other half being Layla's, yet it's Finn who comes out as someone who should ostensibly be more sympathetic. Are we supposed to forget what an utter sleazebag he is? How scary those spurts of anger are?

Layla is clearly portrayed as the one more mentally unbalanced, though the reasoning behind her supposed 'split personality' (and oh, how I tire of the stereotypical view of that) easier to understand and less violent, less inclined towards actually almost killing someone. Of course, it's Layla that pays the ultimate price, because as in real life, men in thrillers seem to get off Scott-free in almost every circumstance.

I'll give the book a star for being readable- the writing is technically proficient and propels the story forward well. It's just too bad the story is awful.

I enjoyed The Breakdown and Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris so I already knew that this would be a good read for me as soon as I saw her name on it.
I love being right!
Finn was head over heels for Layla from the minute she wandered, lost and lonely into his life and interrupted his plans. He was devastated when she disappeared.
Time may forge ahead but do we ever really escape the past? Finn had a secret all those years ago that caused him to lie to the police when Layla went missing in order to avoid being a suspect.
B.A. Paris has a knack for turning domestic bliss into a suspenseful roller coaster ride. I was over halfway finished before I suspected the real twist, and even then the ending was a bit of a surprise.

I received an advance copy for review.

This is my first B.A. Paris book and it sucked me in very quickly in the opening chapters.

My first impression of Finn? Classic Psychopath. He dropped enough hints that made me think that he had something to do with Layla’s disappearance, despite what he told the cops. I felt sorry for Finn; obviously someone is messing with his head and making him believe that Layla is alive.

My initial impressions of Finn and Layla were reversed by the end of the book. Finn ended up not as much of a psychopath as I first thought; and he actually had feelings and a conscience. I liked Layla in the beginning and thought she was a victim of circumstance, but I ended up disliking Layla a lot.

The book started out strong for me – fast paced and intriguing. The writing is excellent and B.A. Paris really knows how to hook the reader by writing really enticing chapter endings that make you say, “Just one more” over and over – until you’ve lost a decent amount of sleep.

However, for me, halfway through the book the pace slowed down. It seemed to have lost the momentum it gained in the first half. Eventually, it delivered an unexpected ending. I think the ending could’ve been better but as far as endings go, this definitely had a different twist.

Nevertheless, I am looking forward to talking about this book with others that have read it and doing a full debrief.

If you like books with missing girls like Gone Girl, Lie To Me, or The Perfect Stranger, then don’t miss this one!

Won't be posting a review for this title. It was actually a did not finish book.

This was a strange book that told a very strange story and it was just not satisfying to me. I liked B.A. Paris' other books but I did not feel that this one was as good. I had to skim this one to force myself to finish it. It meandered all over the place between Finn's story of losing Layla twelve years earlier and the present--how and why did Layla disappear and is she really back after all these years? Layla-ugh.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read and review.

Bring me Back is a book filled with mystery and suspense. The book started out a little bit slow, but after getting past the first part things moved much more quickly. The plot was very well developed and the end does not leave you hanging.

Disappointing - a fan of her other books (particularly Behind Closed Doors, which was spectacular!), this one was pretty silly. No character to really get behind, story felt contrived. That said, I kept reading through to the end so there must have been something here. Others may enjoy it, but it wasn't for me.

t is funny how the publishing world seems to work in cycles. For ages every book seemed to be about vampires then it moved on to dystopian future fantasies. Now most of the books worth reading are in the psychological thriller genre and B A Paris has really made this category her own. This is her third novel with a twist and it definitely doesn’t disappoint.

Twelve years ago Finn was returning from a trip to France with his girlfriend Layla. They stopped at a remote service area for a toilet break and when Finn had returned to the car Layla had just vanished. Despite lengthy investigations both in France and the UK she had just disappeared without a trace.

Now that Finn is living with Layla’s sister Ellen and preparing for their wedding some strange things have started happening. Little Russian dolls have begun appearing in the oddest places and this was significant only to Ellen and Layla as children. Could she still be alive…?

Bring Me Back is the kind of book that you need to put everything else on hold for – once you start reading you will need to find out the truth.

This book will have you on the edge of your seat until the last page is turned. Excellent psychological thriller. Layla and Ellen are sisters and have had a terrible upbringing. Ellen’s mind is all twisted as she tries to take over her sister’s boyfriend. Where do these twisted minds come from and how the author handles it is amazing.

I really enjoyed this book!. Twists all the way through! So many times I thought that I guessed it, then I changed my mind.

I have adored all BA Paris's books but my favorite still is The Breakdown. That being said I still adored this book.

This is definitely a fast paced psychological read. It definitely messed with my head! Nothing as it seems in this book and it kept me on my toes. I would definitely recommend to any that like psychological drama and mystery.

Wow, just wow. This author just amazes me. I would love to have a mind that can come up with these stories. Third book I have read and each time I can' t figure out the ending. Incredible. I read it in a day and really did not want to put it down. You are hooked right from the first paragraph. If you love mysteries and thrillers, this should be your new favorite author Get all 3 books you will be glad you did !

Bring Me Back is the type of escapist reading I love, where you are not quite sure where it is going, but you can't wait to get there.
Finn claims Layla was kidnapped years ago and goes on to make a new life for himself with her sister, but is Layla still alive? If so, where was/is she? Why can't he remember what happened at the time of the alleged kidnapping? What will he do if she is alive as far as which sister will he choose?
Thanks NetGalley for an exciting advance reader copy in exchange for an honest opinion.

B.A. Paris' novels are always a favourite of mine. Bring Me Back however would have to be my least favourite. The book centres around Finn and his life ten years after his girlfriend Layla went missing from a rest area on a holiday with him. Finn was a complicated, angry, complicated mess that obviously had not dealt well with the fallout of Layla's disappearance and throughout the whole novel was seriously unlikeable and I had no idea how his new fiancé could even stand him really. I guess in turn it all made sense in the end but this was not one of B.A.'s usual unputdownable books that I have come to know. I have to admit the ending was not what I expected and I didn't actually see that coming which was nice! Whoever thought that Russian dolls could come across so creepy? Well here we are. Anyway - good, not fantastic as I've come to expect.

Thank you Netgalley and publishers for an ARC of this novel. This is a fast-paced mystery, but unfortunately, I did not connect with the characters, and it was also disappointing that I had this one figured out about 40% into it. Not a horrible read by any means, but just not a winner for me.

Fast paced! My favorite is still her debut, Behind Closed Doors, and I DNF her second book, The Breakdown, as I found it very predictable and unoriginal. I did enjoy this one much more!

As far as suspense goes, the first 45% to 50% of the book was really good. I kept getting drawn in as I wanted to know more of what had happened to Layla. Then in the second half of the book as the resolution started coming together it got more and more ridiculous until the final chapter when all is revealed. I'll try not to spoil anything, but the "twist" and ending of whodunit was beyond believable, even for a fictional story.
