I flew through this book within one long rainy afternoon. It made me think and question enough to lure me in, however, for me, the storyline fell flat. I had expected more action and less love triangle. From the description I thought I was going to travel down a road of deception, when in reality I was handed a story of games. It flowed well and kept my interest because I had to know what happened to Layla and whether or not she was truly alive. The suspense was there, I just think it fell flat in the events that brought it all together and how it ties up in the end.

Really enjoyed this book and was certainly pulled in by the writer as plot developed. Very well written.

I gave this novel three stars because I did finish it, and I was entertained for the most part. What disappointed me was the ending, it just didnt ring true, and it was a little too abrupt. I chose the book because of previous books by B. A. Paris that were definite page turners. Bring Me Back isnt as strong, and I would actually say that I found it predictable and that it didnt quite keep the promise of the premise. What I did appreciate was the unreliable narrator, and the initial set up is intriguing.

B. A. Paris is AMAZING. Bring Me Back was nothing like I expected and I was surprised at every turn. It was suspenseful and thrilling to read.

Finn and Laya become a couple - go on a car trip - pull over at rest stop - Finn leaves Laya in the car to go to the rest room. When he comes back she is gone! Was she dead? Or did she run away? We find Finn to be withholding and dishonest, Plenty of intrigue and misinformation from there. In comes Ellen, Layla's sister, to Finn's life. After some time he asks Ellen to marry him. He then starts getting messages from Layla. Where has she been for the past 12 years? It is an intriguing concept but the novel missed the mark with this reader. The characters are one dimensional and unsympathetic. The plot implausible and excruciatingly drawn out. I do hear good reviews about B. A. Paris's other books so I will read the author again hoping for a better outcome!

This should have been titled Gone Girl 2 because it's the same story, in the same exact format, as that book.

Received from Netgalley in exchange for honest review.

I loved the first two novels by B.A. Paris so it was obvious I was anticipating her latest book.

Diving right in I was hooked from the start but getting into Part 2 I felt like I was losing the excitement the first part of the book brought me. By the time I reached Part 3 I was just reading to see how it all fell into place.

This one let me down but I am still a big fan of B.A. Paris. Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for me copy.

BA Paris has done it again!

Another book that I couldn't put down. Woke up extra early to finish the book because I had to know how it would end.

Bring Me Back by B.A. Paris is the author's latest psychological thriller. In this book, a man's wife disappears at a rest stop and is never seen again. Is he guilty? Or is something else at play? The premise of this book is interesting and quickly hooks you. The characters are complicated and hard to figure out. So why did I have trouble getting through this novel? The characters were hard to connect with and this made the story tedious at times. This is not my favorite work by this author, but I would gladly read other works in the future. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

This was an amazing book that kept me intrigued and on the edge of my seat. I loved the depth of the characters. The twists and turns were so well done I never saw them coming. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Since time is my most precious resource, I am very careful how I spend it. This book was worth every second it took me to read. Amazing return on my investment!

This one has me frustrated. I'm still shaking my head over this one.

Let me tell you why...

Things are going along well, I'm finding the plot interesting, the psychological aspect has me intrigued, that is, until I begin to really figure out what's happening here. Then, my eyebrow starts to raise, the eyes start to roll, then here comes the "you've got to be kidding me". Yes folks, the ending completely ruined this novel for me. It's completely absurd. I cannot explain this without including spoilers... so I won't. If you want to know, I'm happy to discuss with you if you send me a message via Goodreads.

At first I was going to go with 3 stars, but the more I think about it, I decided to go with 2 stars for a few reasons, the obvious, being the ending, another, I found the character development poor. We knew very little about these characters, only what's really happening in the present. It's not until the end of the novel that we really get to understand a bit more about Ellen and Layla, but I feel at this point it's not as impactful. I also felt like there was just a lack of detail, and I think that has to do with the way the story was narrated. Finn's constant monologue of questions... it gives the reader clues of what's to come, but it lacks detail in the storyline that I feel is necessary to captivate.

This is my first B.A. Paris novel, I've heard from others that she's an excellent author, so I won't dismiss her, but it's clear that this probably isn't her best work.

I want to thank NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, and B.A. Paris for allowing me the opportunity to read this novel in exchange for my review.

Another amazing read by B. A. Paris! You are definitely held in suspense through the whole book and talk about an I didn't see that coming ending!

This was a super fast read, and I enjoyed it very much. BUT...really? Really? He had no idea all this time that she was Layla?
I can suspend belief in books, because, well..duh. They are books. I read for pleasure and enjoyment. But this was a bit much. I am still giving it three stars because I liked the story, but I am giving it a 5-star eyeroll at the same time.

While I did not dislike this book; I did find some parts of it unbelievable. Spoilers: I enjoyed the mystery of where Layla went, and could even get into the premise that he would fall in love with her sister. However, I don't think that he could be so in love with a person and spend that much time with her but not recognize her. Or that the 'sister' wouldn't have slipped up at some point.

If something in consistent in B.A Paris' novels, it's that the ending will be a shocker. Bring Me Back is no exception to this with a story and characters that are as imperfect and flawed as they are magnetic and complicated.
When Layla disappears mysteriously from her boyfriend's car, we think we know what happened. But the truth is far more complicated, bordering on the brink of reality and illusion.

Ten years ago Layla went missing from her boyfriend, Finns, car at a rest type stop. That’s what he told the police anyway. Now he is engaged to Layla’s sister, Ellen, who he bonded with over their shared loss. Now Finn is getting messages from someone claiming to know where Layla is. I don’t want to give to much away but this book has a phenomenal plot twist at the end. I did not see the end coming at all. A MUST READ if you are a fan of suspense.

This was a great, quick read. A true page turner in the same style as the author's previous books. My attention was hooked from the first chapter and I found it impossible to put down. As much as I thought the story was going to be predictable, I really wasn't sure if I had figured out the twist or not until the very last page. This story is a true psychological thriller, leaving the reader unsure of who to trust, what's real or not, and leaves us feeling as uncomfortable as our main character Finn. Without giving away too much, I truly appreciate the story line the author created when one looks further into the depth of domestic assault and what the side effects can be as well. An entertaining read that will hold your attention, late into the night. Thank you netgalley for allowing me to read in exchange for my honest opinion.

This one will keep you guessing until the end! I loved Paris's book, The Break Down, and was very excited to read this one too. The story begins with Finn's girlfriend disappearing while he uses the restroom at a rest stop after a ski vacation. No trace of her was ever found. Twelve years later, and Finn has moved on with his missing girlfriend's sister. Finn begins receiving messages from Layla, and begins to think maybe she is alive after all.
The story is told between Layla, Finn, present and past. The ending was completely unexpected to me, and I really thought I had this one figured out! Highly recommended!

The Short of It:

Great start. Poor finish.

The Rest of It:

B.A. Paris wrote Behind Closed Doors which I thought was a pretty good read. Many of you read it and I think overall it was well received. Her next book, The Breakdown was also very popular with readers. What I cannot deny is that she writes tense, suspenseful page-turners and that was what I was in the mood for when I picked up her latest book Bring Me Back.

This story is all about Finn, Ellen and Ellen’s missing (presumed dead) sister Layla. It’s a love triangle with a lot of twists and turns. The last time Finn saw Layla, was at a rest-stop. After a lover’s quarrel, Finn steps out of the car to use the facilities and when he comes back Layla is gone with no leads, except for the little Russian nesting doll she left behind.

Years pass. Layla never shows up. During this time Finn falls in “like” with Ellen, Layla’s sister. As the two of them approach marriage, Finn does his best to push his feelings for Layla aside so that he can spend the rest of life with Ellen. But then, a little Russian nesting doll appears out of nowhere. What does this mean? Is Layla alive? Is she trying to communicate with him? Is someone holding her captive?

The set-up is good. I was pulled into the story, but very early on I figured out what happened and because of that realization, the rest was too much of a cat and mouse game and the ending was ultimately lackluster. Plus, I never want to hear about or see a Russian nesting doll again. It’s seriously overused.

I really DO enjoy these types of books. I am all about page-turners this summer but I need a solid plot. Give me that, and some decent characters and I’m good. This story was just too much of Finn running around trying to figure out what was, in my opinion, very obvious to begin with.

I read this back in June but forgot to include it in last month's book review post because I completely forgot that I read it. I re-opened it in mid-July and couldn't figure out why my Kindle showed I was at the end. Didn't I just read the first couple of chapters and then get distracted by something else? Nope.

This is one of those psychological thrillers where I figured out the twist REALLY early on, but then convinced myself that I had to be wrong. This does get bonus points for having a really good red herring, but overall it was just ok. The ending was a little too unbelievable to be satisfying. I reviewed "Behind Closed Doors" by the sane author back in August of 2016 (wow it doesn't seem like that long ago!) and I think I enjoyed that one more. Not sure I'll pick up a third one by this author, though.
