Well, I read this book because I like sports not that I am going to get into an argument over the best sports town because I am sure each town has its own thoughts. Here though you get to look at the five teams and the history behind them which is a good look there are also very good photos and of course some top players from each of the teams, so if you are into sports it is worth the read.

While I am not a big fan of any Chicago teams, this book does a decent job of describing all of the reasons that Chicago should be considered one of the top sports towns in the US. It's a fun read for fans of those teams.

Right off, I am a proud Chicago sports fan! I was born in Chicago and most of the teams are in my blood (except the White Sox). I did enjoy this book. I liked the history of each team, and that they included the lesser known teams and leagues, as they are a part of the Chicago sports town. I also enjoyed the stories that went along with the teams, it made it more personable. Being a Chicago fan, I truly endorse this book! It is well written and well researched. And of course, Chicago IS the best sports town! Thanks Brian Sandalow.

Chicago: America's Best Sports Town is another in the series (I had previously read about Boston - I disagree w/ both but I may be biased as a NY Sports fan). The forward of this book is written by none other than Mike Ditka. The book focuses a chapter on each of the sports teams - Football's Bears, Hockey's Black hawk's, Basketball's Bulls, Baseball's Cubs and White Sox. There are also chapters on the colleges, the Olympics and then some other fun inclusions as well. I really like when they include the "mount rush mores" in these books - what players from each team past and present would end up on the mount Rushmore if it was sports based and not presidential based. And for those that didn't quite make Rushmore status, there's also "the best of the rest."

While I may not agree that Chicago is America's best sports town, (I'll give them the Bulls though) the book had a lot of great information and was a fun & easy read.

I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review, I was not otherwise compensated.
