Is a nervous breakdown hitting rock bottom? Or is the recovery going to be a constant challenge? Can the simplest of responsibilities and task help keep a solid hold on a woman’s sanity? Can a kindhearted and fragile soul find comfort in her relationships or is she at risk of being a doormat? That’s the questions at the heart of Everything She Lost by Alessandra Harris.

Nina Taylor is in trying to recover the life she lost and is grateful her husband, Rodney, has allowed her to come back home to him and their two daughters. She needs the support of friends and finds her new friend, Deja Johnson, to be a lifeline. Or is Deja’s own challenges harming Nina’s grip on reality?

An intriguing look at life, betrayal, secrets, and survival with a poignant twist. An honest, if sometimes dark look at what it means to be human. One of the best books I’ve read so far this year.

Thanks to Net Galley, Alessandra Harris, and Red Adept Publishing for the Arc. Opinions are my own.

A story with cruel intentions!

This was a very enjoyable story which kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Whilst a suspense story, it becomes a mystery as to whether Nina’s actions were as a result of her mental health or something altogether more sinister.

The story was relatively fast paced and I didn’t predict the ending, although my suspicions started to become more or less accurate towards the book’s conclusion.

As new to me author, I found that I enjoyed Alessandra Harris’ writing style but the book at times felt more like an account than an actual portrayal of a complete story. Despite this, the story was fascinating and despite the cruelty carried out against Nina, it was a pleasurable reading experience.

Well, if I'm being honest, this book didn't work for me at all. I just found the entire story unbelievable and all of the characters were annoying. I pressed on hoping I'd become engaged at some point but that just never happened. C'est la vie!

There are a lot of positive reviews for this novel so I'm sure it's me and not the book. You may love it!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and Red Adept Publishing.

This was a very intriguing book. Nina has had a breakdown and is trying to put her life back together. She is recently reunited with her husband and daughters. However, things keep happening that she doesn't understand. She is hoping that a second breakdown is not coming. I really liked Nina and was wondering what was going on. Is she doing things and not remembering or is someone playing games with her??

Deja is trying to escape a bad past. However that past has found her. In trying to be rid of it for good, Deja ruined the only friendship she ever had. I have to say for 98% of the book, I was not a fan of Deja. I wanted Nina to wake up and see her for who she really was.

There was a lot going on in this novel. I have to say while I knew something wasn't right, I didn't have it all figured out.
