I have actually met Carey at a signing and she is a sweet, genuine person and that carries over into her characters. I loved the tension between Shane and Ember as their story played out. There were some times that I wished the flow was a little more fluid or that the characters choices made a little more sense... But all in all, this was a great book!

I loved the book from start, single Dad trying to juggle a busy job as detective, and trying to be an awesome dad to a 9 year old girl.Mix in a super hot neighbour and you will get a sizzling chemistry lesson.
The plot and the characters were great and I really loved reading the book.

I enjoy reading romantic suspense books and this one does not disappoint! I was not sure what to expect since this is a new author for me, but I loved this book! Shane and Ember had great chemistry and the twists and turned really drew me into the story. I also loved the added bonus of the interaction with Rosie. I can't wait to ready book #1 and any future offerings by this author!

I received an arc from Netgalley. While I loved this story and the connection between all characters I felt at times details were missed. Why didn’t someone check on the mom as they knew something was wrong. Another question is why on earth would you go to the hospital with another man and his wife having a baby while your own daughter was kidnapped and girlfriend could be in danger. Things like that bothered me.

Regardless of those details though I did enjoy the intensity of this book and the developing relationship between Shane and Ember. Even though halfway through you find out who is behind the murders the author keeps you on the edge of your seat. 3.5 stars just because of details.

Very enjoyable page turner! Recommended.
