But there were things she could have done. She should have written more. She could have waited for a response. She should have made certain that she and her son would be welcomed instead of hoping against the odds that love would overcome objection, even after all the years that had passed. But just how did a person say, I have no place to go. I need to come home, can I stay? And what would she have done if they told her she wasn't welcome?

Hannah was coming home after 15 years. Leaving the Amish was complicated and became more complicated after her husband was killed. Her Amish parents never met their grandchild and how would they now receive her. She also left the love of her life. It was a huge misunderstanding that only multiplied. Aaron who loved Hannah with everything was devastated when she left without a word. He recently lost his wife and is now raising his 3 children alone. Seeing Hannah again after so many years has left him with many emotions unresolved.

I loved this story of a family healing with a homecoming. The prodigal daughter with her son and all the baggage that comes with it. There is a self-discovery ... discovering what is important and making right the mistakes you made. I loved all the characters and how coming home is more than a place but a way of life.

A Home for Hannah is a heart warming Christian romance. I recommend this novel to all who enjoy this type of story.

This book was just was I was looking for. It was well written and stayed true to the subject. I enjoyed everything including the characters. It left me wanting to read it again and coming back for more.

Amy entwines both coming home and lost loves in this story line. Two characters who have loved each other in the past and have lost something recently.

A Home for Hannah

Hannah moves back with her Amish parents and brings her son that is a teenager. Brandon is used to the city life and with having all the modern life conveniences. I really enjoyed Brandon character. Hannah has a twin sister and I will be reading about her in the book. I look forward to reading more in this series. I received an complementary copy of the book from NetGalley and the publisher.

I enjoy a good Amish romance. There are great characters and I learn about another lifestyle. I recommend this book to others

I received an arc from Netgalley. What a great read. Through the entire book you could feel each characters emotions and the ending was great. Surrender and let God lead. Hard for all of us to do but a great message.

I loved so many parts of this book: the story of how a woman who left the Amish life adjusted to the English world, how she was received when she came back to the Amish community, how her son reacted to the Amish way of life and how her own faith changed throughout the story. I loved Aaron's story and how the community helped him with his girls after his wife died. I loved how close he was with Hannah's family even after she left.

So now you're wondering if I loved it so much why did I only give it two stars especially when most of the other reviews have it much higher.

I HATED the ending. Hated it to the point where this is the first book in a long time that I actually finished and was pissed off about the ending. As a mother, I can't wrap my head around how Hannah was okay with how the book ended. There was no discussion about it, she just accepted it. I'm sure that an alternative, temporary arrangement could have been made but she didn't even consider that. She only thought of herself and what she would get out of the decision.

A Home For Hannah is such a good family story, a mother and son, a father and three small children. Then there is A Mother and Father and their daughter who left for the Englisch world who has come back and wants to be accepted. Then there is true love. You have first love who was and then wasn't and then they both got married to others and both lost them and now have found each other again - isn't that awesome? Is that love going to rekindle? especially with children involved and with Hannah being in the Englisch world? Will Hannah's family accept her and her son, being that she went to that world? This is such a book of love and a great book of the beginning in the Pontotoc Series and I cannot wait until the second one comes out and I pray for the privilege to be able to read that one as well.

This is one of my wow books for the year. I could not put this book down and I was not feeling good. When I am sick I have a hard time concentrating on what I am reading but not with this book. I had to know what Hannah and Aaron were going to do. Would Hannah rejoin the Amish church or would she remained n English. How would her son Brandon feel about everything. I loved this from beginning to the end. I can’t wait to see what the next book in this series will be like. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

A Home for Hannah by Amy Lillard is the first story in Amish of Pontotoc series. Hannah McLean is returning home to Pontotoc, Mississippi with her son, Brandon after the death of her husband. Hannah needs a place for them to stay until the estate is settled (her husband left her with a mess). She had left the community fifteen years prior to explore the Englisch world. Pontotoc is a conservative Amish settlement that does not have indoor plumbing (that is so wrong). It will be a big adjustment for her son, Brandon. When Hannah left she broke Aaron Zook’s heart. Aaron is now a widow with three children to care for as well as his farm. He prefers training horses, but there is little opportunity for that in his area. Aaron just received an offer for a job in Ohio working with horses which he is thinking about accepting until Hannah returns. His feelings for Hannah have not changed, but they can only be together if Hannah joins the Amish faith. But can they overcome the past to have a future? Can Hannah return to a simpler way of life?

A Home for Hannah is a sweet Amish romance. It does contain some nice writing, but I found the pace slow (which made the book feel long and drawn out). In some places the story stalled out (failed to move forward). The POV moves between Hannah, Aaron and Brandon. I enjoyed Brandon’s story more than Hannah and Aaron’s. He is taken away from everything that is familiar and thrust into a world with no computer, gaming devices or a phone (or indoor toilet). Brandon’s cousin, Joshua Gingerich befriends Brandon and shows how to enjoy life without modern technology (fishing for example). I failed to connect with Hannah. Her indecision, blaming others and her life choices were frustrating (after 15 years you cannot use lack of education and naivete as an excuse). There was too much redundancy in A Home for Hannah. The same questions or thoughts are repeated in each chapter (mostly in the first half of the book). A Home for Hannah just seemed off. I found it lacking (like the author was holding back and not letting the story flow naturally). I wanted more depth added to the story and less predictability. A Home for Hannah could have used a rewrite.

I enjoyed this “going home again” story by Amy Lillard. The storyline kept my interest as the characters struggled with resolving their conflicts. I liked the fact that the author respected Amish beliefs and allowed them to keep their integrity, but clearly showed their love for others through a difficult situation. I believe this is the first book of a new series, and I look forward to reading more about this community.

What a fantastic start to a new series, the story focuses on Hannah, Brandon, and Aaron.

A Home for Hannah is about a young Amish girl who leaves her community to see what the English world is all about. Fifteen years later, she returns back to the Amish community she left? I enjoyed reading about Hannah, and the struggles she goes through. Hannah is pulled between the love she has for her son and faith of her community. Will the Amish community welcome her back? Or will she be shunned?

Aaron Zook was Hannah’s first love, now a widower with 3 children to raise and a farm to run. But Aaron prefers training horses and he has received job offer in Ohio working with horses. Will he accept the offer and move away? Or will his feelings for Hannah make him stay? Will they be able to overcome their past to have a future together?

Will Hannah find a place to call home? This is a story of hope and inspiration!

Amy Lillard does thorough research into her characters and settings. Amy has taken the setting from the real town of Pontotoc, Mississippi. And the characters have such genuine feelings and thoughts that the everyday person would have. You will laugh and even shed a tear with these characters.

If you are a fan of Amish Fiction you will not be disappointed. Grab a copy of Amy’s new book and curl up with a cuppa and enjoy.

Can you imagine not seeing your family for fifteen years? This is what happened to our heroine Hannah, and then to her son, but circumstances upon circumstances thwart any return previously.
The author has emphasized the theme of forgiveness, a part of your faith in God, easy to say, but very hard to truly do. Now our girl appears to have a foot in both worlds, and each are pulling on her, how can she decide, and yet her loves need her.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and we see all of the characters being pulled in different directions, and yet they never waver in their faith in God.
Watch as big secrets unfold, and then see how each of these characters are able to deal with the bombshells, some you will never see coming.
Big tangled web here, and it seems impossible to untangle, is there any possibility?

I really enjoyed reading Hannah's story. This is such an exciting start to a new series by Amy Lillard, the Amish of Pontotoc. The author really knows how to pull on your heartstrings!
I went through a lot of emotions while reading this! After the death of her husband Hannah's life is a struggle. She left the Amish for 15 years and is now returning with a teenage son. He doesn't want to leave the comforts of his Englisher life, his cellphone,computer,etc. Hannah is torn and walking between two worlds, should she stay Englisher for her son and all he knows or go back to her old way of life and how she grew up and is familiar with. Can you even go back to this way of life or is it too late to make a new start? There also the little matter of her old boyfriend,Aaron who thought he was going to marry Hannah before she took off as a teen without a word to anyone. He is unsure how to take her return. Can he count on her to be in his life again? He has always loved her and will continue to do so! Can his heart take having her in the community and not being able to call her his a second time? When her son finds out a secret through gossip how will Hannah handle this? Hannah was the main character but her son Brandon played a big part in this book as well. I can't wait to see how things go with him in the next book. The author emphasizes forgiveness and letting go, moving forward with life. The author portrays real life situations and I look forward to reading more about these characters in future books. I really enjoyed this book!

Amy Lillard has a way of writing that makes one not want to put the book down. Her Amish of Pontotoc series brings us to Mississippi. We meet Hannah McLean as she and her angry teenager are heading back to her hometown. Not sure if she will be welcomed or shunned, Hannah has no other place to turn. Will her family allow her to return? Will her community accept her? Most importantly will her first love still be there?
This book brings out many feelings. We see love, forgiveness, anger, and acceptance. Hannah is on a long journey back to a life she wanted to leave but longed to be a part of. Her journey is one many take in trying to discover where you actually belong. I highly recommend this book and look forward to the next. I received a copy from Netgalley. This review is my own thoughts.

A Home for Hannah was very lacking for me I felt like Amy Lillard was holding back I didn't like the whole story line to this especially for a Amish Romance story! The plot was no where near what I usually like to read when it comes to a wholesome Amish romance book. Not for me at all.

Great book! Very easy to read and follow the storyline. An Amish girl who wanted to see more of the world outside the Amish community, the love she leaves behind,, the man from the English world whom she quickly married after unsettling news from back home. After her husband dies, she returns to the Amish community to find many things have changed. A great book with some surprises I wasn’t expecting.
