I have some feelings about this book.

Allison’s mother died when she was very young, so she was put in foster care when one day, a man comes and takes her away and she joins his family. His family consists of a few other fosters kids, three of which he has officially adopted; Roland, Deacon and Thora. And they live in this beautiful home that they call “The Dragon”.
Dr. Vincent Capello is a very famous brain surgeon who has saved many kids. Yet, thirteen-years-ago Allison’s distant aunt got a mysterious call from someone claiming that Allison was going to be murdered. Then, Allison was pushed down their stairs, and by doing so she hit her head and cannot remember who pushed her. Forced to go live with her aunt, Allison is left with a void of missing her foster family and wondering who was the one to push her down the stairs.
Allison gets a mysterious envelope from her oldest foster brother, Roland, asking her to return home, because their foster father is dying.
Upon her arrival home relationships are tested and the secrets and lies that have been kept hidden are exposed.

Now I really enjoyed this book, finding out what really happened that night, the depth of lies and secrets. Naturally I was going to give this a 4 star rating. Now the sexual relationships between Allison and her foster brother did not bother me so much, because they are not related and 13 years had gone by before they saw each other. HOWEVER I DON'T THINK IT WAS NESSESARY FOR THEM TO CONTINUE CALLING EACH OTHER BROTHER/SISTER AFTER THEY HAVE SLEPT TOGETHER.

trigger/content warnings: cheating/being unfaithful to a partner, death of a child, physical abuse, suicide, animal abuse, animal death, attempted rape, medical malpractice, and psychosurgery.

I would give this book 3.5 stars

I really enjoyed reading this book, it definitely gave me a lot to think about.

The main struggle I had with the book was definitely the relationships.

I really enjoyed all the commentary in the story on morality issues, such as what is cutting edge medical research and what is child torture and where do you draw the line?

My favourite part of the book was definitely the setting on the Oregon Coast. The book was very atmospheric and it definitely had be wanting to visit the area.

This story was very different, I had no idea what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. The past catches up with Allison when her lover breaks things off with her and a letter arrives unexpectedly. This is full of suspense, mystery and secrets, many many secrets and many twists, right to the end with a bit of romance thrown in. Who can Allison trust? What is the truth behind the secrets? A very interesting read.

Thanks to NetGalley and MIRA for a copy of the book in return for an honest review.

WOW(!!!) I have never read this author, am I am so happy I read this one and not her other popular series. As I think this genre the mystery/suspense with some romance is becoming one of my favourite genre to read. I felt this one was perfect for me to get a feel of the authors writing.

The Lucky Ones, is about seven children that were taken in by a Dr. Dr Vincent Capello he would bring them home to his beach house. He would become there Dad, or in some cases foster Dad. With Roland, Deacon and Thora he adopted the three and any of the others that came to his care he was their foster parent... Or was he?

This was such a good mystery, I wasn't quite sure what I was getting myself into, especially how is started with our main character Allison getting dumped by her lover/boss. She was a mistress of a very wealthy man and he dropped her after 6 years to be with another lady...

Anyway, almost 13 years ago Allison was living a happy life with her foster parents and her brothers and sisters as they all call them selves, and then she mysterious was waking up in a hospital and off to live with her very old Aunt who whisked her away.

Come back to the future, she gets a letter from her Roland, explaining to her that there Dad is dying and wishes for her to come home. She decides to go home and find say good-buy and to find out why she wasn't fought for, all those years ago.

Roland, OMG this man, monk was everything I loved him, he was sweet, caring and he has always loved Allison, even with a 5-6 year gap.

As the story progresses so many twist and turns, I couldn't put it down. I loved the suspense of not knowing and what was going to happen next. Seriously a fantastic read.

I really loved the story lie, and the way Tiffany wrote this story, It read quickly and with every scene that unfolded I was like "NO, omg are you serious!"

I loved all the characters, Deacon was a fav, but I cant go into any more because this is one awesome mystery and the Whys, the How's it was flipping excellent!

I laughed, swooned, giggled and fell in love with the characters, the image that the author put into our heads of what the place looks like was perfect. I had chills, and jumped a couple times.

I would recommend this to everyone, that last 10-15% was so good, I just loved watching it all unfold.

Secrets, Confessions and Mystery. What happened 13 years ago will change there lives forever or will it only change one life, Who can we trust, what is hiding in the attic. Is the person you love really who they say they are?

Overall I gave it a 4.85 but now I am all the way giving it a 5 stars!

5* Lucky Stars

I went into this story blind and I am glad I did because I would never have thought the story to be what it was.

This story is rife with secrets and lies and the mystery unfolds chapter by chapter. I enjoyed getting to know the characters of which there are quite a few, as they were real and frightfully interesting. I was delighted and surprise too to be reacquainted with Cooper McQueen (from The Bourbon Thief) and his love for women and whiskey.

Tiffany Reisz is a master storyteller whether it be erotica, mystery or general fiction all her books are unique in there own way. I love her writing and am a big fan of her books.

I absolutely loved the cover and the title of the book was very apt for the story line.

Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin (Australia), for allowing me to read this e-book for an honest opinion.

Tiffany Reisz , the name says it all. Her books always reel you in and this one is no exception.

Allison finds herself living in a foster home with Dr Capello and other children, some whom have been adopted by Dr Capello. Life is good, especially after the last home she was put in when her mother dies in a car accident. She takes a special liking to the eldest boy Roland who treats her seriously like a little sister, the other children she gets on well with also but she notices that a couple of them are quite withdrawn.

After a very disturbing incident, Allison is taken from the home by her Aunt and lives with her until her Aunt's death where she finds herself working for Billionaire Cooper McQueen at nineteen years old.

After a letter arrives from Roland telling her of the impending death of Dr Capello, Allison decides to return to the home known as The Dragon and pay her respects to the Dr whom she loved dearly.

Unfortunately when she returns, Allison finds she is questioning herself about the accident which led to her leaving the home and uncovering many lies and secrets about not only Dr Capello but all the other children living there any many more who were patients of the well known and loved Neurosurgeon.

This was a great read, one that was hard to put down, there was a bit of everything in this book, a mild thriller, a love story with heartache and eventual hope.

Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin (Australia), TEEN/MIRA for the opportunity to read and review this book.
