A massive Christmas tree circled up to the dome, so laden with ornaments she could almost hear it groan.

I’m immune to you. I’ve developed antibodies against the virus that is James Armstrong.

I look forward to never seeing you again.

Jamie, if we’re going to judge on stereotypes you’d be grumpy and pasty and miserly and I’d be a kid with a bloated stomach and flies in my eyes.

That had gone so far beyond her expectations she couldn’t recall what she’d expected.

My Review:

I struggled with this book, valiantly I might add. It was laborious work, as I had no knowledge of the characters or experience with the previous installments in this series, which left me frequently at sea as I made my way through this complicated story with a full roster of complex and terse characters. Sigh, don’t get me wrong, this wasn’t a poorly written book, it just didn’t ring my bell. I enjoyed several of the storylines that I could follow but I couldn’t keep all the balls in the air, which left me feeling dim-witted and exhausted… I freely admit that I would make an extremely poor spy as I am far too lazy and wouldn’t be able to keep all the lies straight.

The main character of Samira had stumbled onto dangerous information through her deceased fiancé, information that had lead to his death and continued to place her life in jeopardy. She had been living in the shadows for over a year, which only heightened her already anxious nature. She was paranoid and prone to panic attacks as well as over thinking every single issue. She also repetitiously looped back to obsessive thoughts. She was not a character I could warm up to, and I really tried but I didn’t find her endearing; I found her tiresome. But of course, I would adore the flawed yet protective male lead of Jamie with his lovely Scottish burr – yummy. Too bad they spent 95% of the book fighting their attraction.

I really enjoyed this book. There is heart stopping suspense, thrilling action scenes, and, of course, blossoming romance. I loved that the protagonist is a strong female lead that suffers from panic attacks. She is also extremely intelligent and has an amazing grasp of technology. The male lead is a tough guy with teddy bear insides and his own personal problems. All of the characters are amazing.

This is the third book in a series, which I didn’t know when I started reading it - but it is standalone.

Thanks to the publisher for the advanced readers copy!

This was a fast paced book with some romance thrown it. I was a bit confused during the book almost like I came in the middle of it. I see this is book 3 , maybe if I had read the first two, I would have enjoyed it more.

This is yet another keep-reading book from Bryn Kelly. Like the Legionnaires we met in her previous two books, Doc has a past that is slowly revealed to us. That is the only slow thing about this book though - the plot moves at a great pace, the characters are well developed and the locations had me wanting to get on a plane and go travelling again. This book has it all - love, action, humour and is a great read!

This is an action packed, fast paced and intriguing romantic suspense. It is the third and concluding book in The Legionnaires series but I have to say that it worked well as a standalone as I hadn’t read the earlier books in the series.

Samira Desta is a skilled computer security expert, developing systems to thwart hackers and others determined to infiltrate networks and an expert hacker and app developer. She has been in hiding for a year because her fiancé, Latif, discovered a presidential candidate was responsible for organising terrorist type attacks, murders and more. Unfortunately her fiancé was killed so she’s been on her own most of the time since then except when being guarded by Legionnaire Jamie Armstrong for a very short time. It was during that time that the attraction between the two developed but circumstances, fears and further danger forced them apart. She’s been living in different parts of Europe and when her Italian refuge is attacked she is on the move again, determined to keep safe. This is the start of a desperate attempt to stay alive and thwart the corrupt politician. As she works with the few people she trusts she’s put into even more danger but Jamie is there to support her. Can the two survive and find the evidence to bring the presidential candidate to justice?

The two characters are well developed with significant back stories which impinge on their actions and interactions. There’s drama throughout the story that will keep readers on the edge of their seat and turning pages - there are no dull moments in this story! It is an intense and thrilling story that I didn’t want to put down and it has a truly climactic ending. I hadn’t read anything by this author before but I’ll certainly be looking out for more by her in future!

I requested and was given a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

This is my first time reading this author, but it will not be my last! Fast-paced and filled with suspense and intense action and drama, this book kept me on the edge of my seat. I liked both lead characters, and I love that the lead female, Samira, is a strong, smart, capable woman. I do regret not being aware that this was the third in a series, and I wish I had read these in order so I would have had a full understanding of these characters and their history; however, even though I felt like I was missing part of their story, the romantic tension between them was palpable and I now plan to go back and read the first two in this series to fill in the blanks. Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an advance reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

A Risk Worth Taking is definitely a book worth reading. It's a fast paced adventure that will suck you right in and hours will pass before you come up for air. The story involves Samira, a techie who is on the run because she is a witness in a conspiracy. When she gets a mysterious note telling her there is tangible evidence to help her come out of hiding, she finds it's not safe enough. Jamie comes to the rescue and will do anything to help her.

I did ultimately enjoy the story. I liked the fast pace of the story. It really took off running and didn't let up until the end. The characters are constantly on the move. I felt like I was watching a Jason Bourne movie. I enjoyed the characters. Jamie was my favorite. I loved his humor. Samira was a fascinating character. She speaks many languages, is an amazingly smart hacker yet she also battles panic attacks. Unfortunately, they often crop up at the most inconvenient times. I would have liked to see a bit more romance between Jamie and Samira. I felt like she was still really pining for her dead fiance and it kept both of them from being all in. Their relationship lacked the heat I like to see in a romantic suspense.

This book is the third book in the series. Unfortunately, I don't think it held up very well as a stand alone. I did read the first book, Deception Island, but missed the second book, Edge of Truth. I definitely think I would have benefited from reading the preceding book. Honestly, I really had no clear understanding why Samira was in hiding throughout most of the story. I just knew who she was running from. I felt like the author was assuming I had prior knowledge of the story arc from the previous book. I would have liked more recap in the beginning. Despite that, I do recommend the book. It was an exciting read.

This book was a ready, set, GO! from the first page! It is a fast paced, action adventure packed, romantic suspense, with a twist at the end I wasn't expecting. I love the characters and the vulnerability they had but yet were able to pull their resources and skills together. I was on pins and needles with all the predicaments the characters found themselves in. This author has such a great gift in bringing the reader right into the story and running with the characters. I wanted to keep reading to know how they were going to get out of the situation they were in. I didn't know it was the third book in the series but I didn't have a problem following the action and story at all. I don't read too many books in this genre but this one was definitely worth reading for me! TY Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was full of intrigue and suspense. I loved both of the main characters. I especially enjoyed reading about Jamie. The author did an excellent job showing how likable and real an addict can be. Also, I loved how the author made sure the reader was aware if how much Jamie was trying to recover from his addiction. Samira was such a delight to get to know, and I absolutely loved how the twi characters helped each other through their personal issues. Their chemistry was off the charts! I spent the entire time reading this story trying to figure out what actors I would want to play the two of them in a movie version of the book. It would definitely make for an awesome movie. As soon as this book is released I will be reviewing it on Goodreads, Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, and a couple of author/book pages on Facebook. I will definitely be giving it five stars and telling everyone to read it. Thank you for the opportunity to read, "A Risk Worth Taking," it was a phenomenal experience.

I was to thrilled with this ARC. To me the plot is to drown out not enough action in the beginning, so I could finish it.

What an intense and gripping novel! I do not usually read within the suspense genre but I was hooked from page one and was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book! This novel is jam packed with action including stealthy getaways, vigorous attacks, and steamy encounters. Just when I was caught up in a calm, somewhat peaceful, scene, I was quickly pulled into feeling the now familiar feeling of energy, drive, and turmoil. Definitely a fast-read, mostly because you don’t want to put it down. I especially loved the technology jargon and actions, as well as the tracking and gathering. I did not read the other books in the series and though there are some parts that I think may have touched upon things that happened in previous novels, this can be read as a stand-alone.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review. This was my first book by Brynn Kelly. It drew me in from the beginning. The detail and level of action throughout this book had me feeling like I was reading a manuscript for a high action movie. I could literally visualize the story playing out as I was reading it. The story was well written and I couldn't help but root for the Samira and Jamie throughout the book. I am hoping there is a follow up book as I wasn't ready for the story to end! You won't want to miss a detail of this one! Looking forward to reading more by this author.

I wasn't aware until after I finished A Risk Worth Taking that it was the third book in a series. You can read it as a stand-alone with no problem but I enjoyed it so much that I plan on ordering the earlier books in the series.

The action in this novel starts on the first page and stays at a high level until the end. I must admit that I was tense throughout the entire book and couldn't it down until the end. Thanks to the publisher for this wonderful book that caused me to miss lots of sleep.

Samira is a computer expert with secret knowledge about a government official in the US. She has been in hiding for a year and as the book begins, her cover is blown and the bad guys are outside her hiding place. She manages to escape and when she gets to London, where she feels she'll be safe, she needs to be rescued again - this time by one of the Legionnaires - Jamie, who she had spent some time with earlier (I guess in one of the earlier books). As they both try to keep one step ahead of the people who want to kill her and keep her from sharing her files, the suspense ramps up and stays at a high level. At the same time, there is a sweet love story between Samira and Jamie.

This was a fantastic book. You won't want to skim it because there is so much suspense on every page. This is definitely a must read by a new amazing author.

I read an advance copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Samira Desta lived behind a computer screen until a cataclysmic event drives her into hiding in real life. Jamie Armstrong lived in the shadows of a past he’d like to forget. She receives a postcard that sends her on a journey of survival, and Jamie appears out of nowhere to make sure she stays alive.
Along the way, they have no choice but to talk about an encounter they had in the past, and the heat is back on between them. By the time they’re close enough to finding the key to Samira’s becoming free once more, they cross a line that they can’t cross back over.
Even though the focus of the story is on Samira and Jamie’s journey to survive, it’s also about two strong souls overcoming their fears and coming together. From Tuscany to London to Edinburgh, the action just doesn’t stop.
I couldn’t put this book down, it was a page turner from beginning to end.

This was a fun and fast paced romantic adventure! This is a new to me author and I received an advance copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest review. I read it quickly since there was so much action going on and felt real emotions for the main characters Samira and Jamie. Interesting to have a main character be a Ethiopian hacker turned fugitive on the run. I enjoyed the humor from doctor/soldier/hottie Jamie who plays the handsome charismatic hero with a shady past. He’s the perfect combination of flawed and sexy and she’s an genius introvert who prefers being behind a screen than being on display.

I will definitely go back and read book 1 & 2 in the Legionaries series.

I received an Advanced Reader copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review. A Risk Worth Taking was a fast read. The author, Brynn Kelly, manages to grab your attention from the start by mentioning a plethora of drama that character Samira finds herself entangled in (a dead fiance, voluntary hiding and location changes to avoid her enemies...the list goes on and on!). Overall, I loved the character development utilized by Kelly. Both Samira and Jamie are likable and believable characters despite the over-the-top circumstances they encounter along their journey, and their romance was fun to follow. Overall, a great read by Kelly. I only wish I had read the first two books in the series first, although I was able to read and enjoy it as a stand alone book. Will definitely purchase the first two books in the series!

This is my first book by this author and it won't be my last. Although this is part of a series, it worked on it own but I will definitely be reading the first two. I really enjoyed this story line, the pace of it and the characters especially. I am a fan of romantic suspense and this book pushes all the right buttons for that trope.

4 1/2 stars

Brynn Kelly is able to make characters who are in a fictional over the top world and make them feel real. They deal with real life issues that weighed down a persons mind and soul.

A Risk Worth Taking is a fast pace story that is able to focus on characters development while they are running from bullets.

This story can be read as a stand alone novel but it won't pack as much of a punch. Readers are in a wild ride that is worth of sleepless night.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Harlequin for the advance copy of Brynn Kelly A Risk Worth Taking (The Legionnaires #3)

Hands down, Brynn Kelly's "Legionnaires" series are some of the most intense and exciting romantic suspense novels on the market. Every single action is well-researched, the settings are flawlessly developed, and the characters could be real. A Risk Worth Taking is a wonderful book to add to the series. The pulse-pounding action is nonstop. The relationship between Samira and Jamie is immediate.

This third book in the series starts up after the events in the last book, so I would recommend reading at least "Edge of Truth". However, I urge you to read all of them, because they are exciting and intense.
