Fallen Five is book three in the Lightkeepers series featuring the law enforcement team of Detectives Micki Dare and Zach Harris. Those new to the series will soon realize that this is not just a police procedural novel, as there are elements of the paranormal at work. Lightkeepers are part of an ancient race that are charged with keeping the dark from destroying humanity, of whom Zach and Micki have a connection. When a millionaire developer leaps to his death from his luxury hotel, certain questions arise as to whether there is a paranormal connection. As the links to a previous case of Micki's has her wondering, will the future for all that she loves be uncertain?

Although this book was relatively a quick read, I really just could not get into it. Micki Dare is usually a strong woman, smart and determined, but Fallen Five takes her into a different direction. The paranormal elements were thrown in, making the central case almost like an afterthought. As a fusion between fantasy and mystery/thriller, the novel was not all that successful. The delicate balance was disrupted as the entire story was enveloped in the paranormal. The few personal revelations were interesting, but just not enough to propel the novel and keep my interest. That being said, there were unanswered questions that I am curious enough about to want to read more. I would recommend reading the series from its inception to those new to the Lightkeepers, as this novel on its own may not be enough to convince others to read more.

Double Shot Press and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of Fallen Five. I chose to review this book and my opinion is freely given.

This book was a classic example of "don't judge a book by its cover." I kept burying this one in my ever growing TBR pile because I was turned off by the cover in conjunction with the concept of "another race of humans." For the love of everything, pick up this book.

I've read a few of Spindler's books, loved all of them, and thought I'd pick up one of her paranormal books because I always love a good one of those. I'm not gonna lie, I was a little put off by the concept of this angels vs demons living as typical humans.....but Erica Spindler wove this tale effortlessly and rather expertly, almost to the point of believability.

I couldn't put this book down. I always know a book is going to be 5 stars when I find myself wishing I could read while driving and this one did that for me. It's the 3rd in the Lightkeepers series and can easily be read as a standalone (I've only read this one, but you better believe I'll be going back for the others!)

Thank you Netgalley for giving me this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

I love Erica Spindler's writing style, and I love this series!

The Lightkeepers is a unique twist on the angels/demons concept. The supernatural aspect feels completely plausible, and doesn't overtake the story.

Spindler excels at characterization. Each character is well developed, with a unique personality, and all the strengths and flaws of human nature. They pulled me into their world and made me care what happened to them.

The plot is well-paced, building momentum until I felt like I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Twists knocked me off the path I thought I was on and kept me guessing how it would all play out.

This is the third book in The Lightkeepers series. While it can essentially be read as a stand-alone, I do think this is the kind of series that works best if you start at the beginning. The main plots resolve themselves in each story, but the characters' relationships and some of the subplots carry on from one book to the next.

I received this book from Netgalley to review.
This is the thir bookk in the Lightkeeperseries and it just gets better with each new book.
The relationship between detectives Mick and Zach seems to be getting hotter and more complicated as they fight the battle between the light and dark. Mick begins to learn more about the light and the dark that make the fight increasingly more complicated and deadly.
I would definitely recommend any fan of the paranormal to read the Lightkeeper series beginning with the first book "The Final Seven".

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this amazing book

yes i know its book three in the series and i didnt understand some of the references to the other two books but that does not diminish how good this book is...and i am now interested to go looking for the other two books and await the next in this series

light and dark, good versus evil its all in this book, how a race of beings are down here fighting the dark ones army but there are rules, they are not allowed to fall in love and once they give away their light it can never be given back, its lost for good

but the fight goes on and in this book there are characters to meet...
why do people keep on committing suicide by jumping out of the windows and thats where the story begins...no spoilers but boy this book wont let you put it down..you need to find out who, what and where and how can they beat the dark ones army and who is killing all these people and why?

keep your eye out for this series...its amazing

This could be read as a standalone, but I will say, I wish I'd have read the earlier ones to have a better understanding of the backstory. I will be going back, and while this is not my usual fare, it was totally worth a read!

I'm really enjoying this Lightkeepers series. it's just enough paranormal to give it that edge, but rooted in enough reality to suck the reader in. I do recommend reading these in order, although I think this book could stand alone without a reader feeling too lost.

I am new to Erica Spindler and must say she has a new fan. The combination of action and suspense combined with intricate characters, plot, romance and the paranormal is a must-read. I ideally would have read the previous two books in the series as there were a few points I felt I was missing background. Still, that wasn't a huge negative. I look forward to reading her other books in the series.

Thank you to Net Galley for providing me with an arc in exchange for my honest review.

Fantastic as always. The element of out of this worldliness just takes this primarily crime novel to the next level. Great characters and a great story.

I love Erica Spindlers books. This is a book that I can recommend to all my customers as it is not loaded down with sex and four letter words. This book has it all: romance, mystery, paranormal, and characters that you can really like

I will not restate the plot nor reveal any spoilers in this review.
Erica Spindler is one of my favorite authors because her writing grabs you and takes you on an unexpected journey. Fallen Five, book 3 in the lightkeeper's series, is no exception. Although it is a stand-alone story, it is helpful if you read the series in order. There are references to previous events that are not fully explained in this book, but this does not detract from the storyline. Fallen Five has it all: mystery, suspense, romance and drama wrapped in a paranormal package. I love the fact that it is a clean read. There are no sex scenes nor harsh language. Erica Spindler proves that you can write a great book without either of these things.

I've read several books from Erica Spindler and some I figured out others were a surprise and others were just plain creepy. In this latest installment of her Light Keepers series she brings weird and strange to a new level. I'll admit to being a little confused and lost at certain times because I couldn't figure out the connections and I think that some of what I needed to know were in the other 2 books in the series, but this books does stand on its own. I'd hoped for a little more romance between Mick and Zach but other wise I was kept wondering if people were really interacting with Mick or was it someone else or was Mick interacting with the real friends or an imposter. I look forward the next book in the series and catching up with the first 2 of the Light Keepers Series. There were even a couple of places that some humor came through and a surprise character I didn't expect to see for Ms. Spindler's other books.

Micaela Dare is proud of her nickname Mad Dog Dare. As a Detective of the New Orleans Police Department she gets strong gut reactions to the criminals she comes in contact with, especially if they seem to have special abilities. She has also just found out she has a small amount of Light Keeper in her.. She's been paired with Zachary Hollywood Harris who has special abilities because he is half Light Keeper. While working on a case that looks like a suicide they are called into another similar case but with a higher profile. This most recent case reminds Mick of one of her first cases. She's also been seeing her dead mentor. When she receives a package from him it really shakes her up and after talking to the Post Office officials realizes that it just got lost in the mail. Zach is beginning to worry about her. As the case progresses and it looks like it was a suicide Mick gets more information from the daughter of the man who died about an insurance policy and goes to confronts the widow who reveals what type of monster she really is and threatens all of Mick's loved ones. She tries to warn Zach of what is happening but isn't coherent so he thinks she's unravelling. While Mick takes a couple days off to try to get in touch with her 2 friends she knows can help her. Zach is still pursuing the case and trying to figure out why Mick is not acting normally. He tries to prevent the suicide of the victims oldest daughter but fails. Mick has been suspended and gets a call from the sister of the first suicide case they were working. She gets visits from the 2 people she's been trying to reach saying they'll take care of the monster. Mick can't figure out what she's done to drive the young girl Angel away to stay with Zach's mother who has been living with her. Meanwhile Angel is keeping a secret that she tells Zach's mom but Mick figures out. The person who has been messing with Mick's mind shows up at her house as her worst nightmare and tries to get her to commit suicide, but Zach has figured out what's been going on and convinces Mick he's real and stops her from the act. They talk and come up with the plan to go to his mom for help. They show up at Arianna's house and come up with a plan and decide to bring Angel into it so she won't be put in danger. Only its too late because the person messing with Mick has already kidnapped her. Mick decides that they need to exchange her for Angel but her enemy won't go for it. They find out that this enemy works in pairs so they can trade them to the Light Keepers High Council and decide that if they can catch them they can use the two as an exchange for their friends who've been detained for breaking High Council laws. Arianna and Mick talk about her mentor who the monster killed 6 years ago and she learns more about him and her she's a connection to her partner Zach. Mick receives a call from someone connected to the first suicide case they were working and figures that is the best way to get to her main enemy. He takes her to his sister and escapes to go after Angel and watch Mick die. Zach has been out looking for Angel and how to capture the monster when his uncle shows up. The 2 of them head to Mick's location where she's fighting the monster messing with her and the 3 capture it. Thinking that Angel won't be found they head back to LAM to await the return of their friends and Mick tells Zach her secret that she hasn't told anyone. Zach's uncle's people find a dead body they think is the accomplice of the person that was after Mick. They arrive and find 2 different kinds of bird feathers and no Angel but a drawing she's left of how she was to be rescued by her boyfriend. Mick doesn't know what is going to happen with her job because of the disappearance of the woman who filed a complaint against her, but the Light Keepers protect her but all her recent good karma results in her loosing her most prized possession. Also by what Mick and Drew went through it brings them closer together revealing more of their feelings for each other.

What will happen in the next book? What evil will they face? How will the relationship between Arianna and Mick go? Can Mick and Zach come together as a couple. Will Angel and her boyfriend be safe? How will the Light Keepers and the Soul Bearers war continue? Where will all of Erica Spindler's weird and creepy mind take us next? I look forward to finding out.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Fallen Five by Erica Spindler that I read and reviewed.
I did not think it was possible but this series just keep getting better with every book. I am completely addicted to The Lightkeepers and I love Zach and Micki as partners and as characters in a book that I can't get enough of them.
Fallen Five was an excellent read from start to finish and I loved how Zach and Micki's relationship grew in this book and I can't wait to see where it goes in the next book. This was one of those books you could not put down because you could not wait to see what was going to happen next. Spindler out did herself this time.
Fallen Five gets five out of five stars.

Fallen Five – Erica Spindler

I was fortunate to receive this novel as an Advance Reader Copy, in exchange for an objective review.
New Orleans Detectives Michaela Dare & Zach Harris are back again, as they are called to investigate the death of a local millionaire, after a fall from the 21st story of his newly opened business – but was it a suicide, or something more sinister? And why are the dead man’s daughters so convinced that his wife is responsible, when she was in the lobby, surrounded by party-goers, when he fell to his death?

As they begin to explore the crime scene, Zach, a half breed Lightkeeper, begins to sense things that do not add up. Who is the strange woman in his visions that beckons to him, yet whom he cannot identify? And what did she have to do with the millionaires death?

Meanwhile, Mich receives a gift from a long lost mentor, Hank, minutes after believing that she’s seen him walking outside of her home. Uneasy with the coincidence, she opens the package to find a letter and a medal that the remembers Hank always wore. She puts it on, and almost immediately feels a connection.
As the search for a killer continues, strange events continue to happen, leading Mich & Zach to suspect something far more sinister is occurring.

But this time, the murderer has set their sights on Mich, and all that she holds dear is in peril…

I have always enjoyed anything written by Erica Spindler, and this series is no different! A great police procedural, with a little paranormal added in, and you have yourself a first-rate series!! Readers of Kay Hooper will love this series by Erica Spindler!

I’ve been a huge Erica Spindler fan since we sat by each other in preschool & she’d regale me with her tales..... ok, not really, just wishful thinking - tee hee hee! But I AM a gargantuous fan & impatiently wait for each new book of hers.... this new series threw me for a loop, how much I’m enjoying it! The characters of Mickie, Zach, & all the others? I really wanna just meet up at The Ruby Slipper for some brunch & then all pile up together at Debbie Does Doberge..... because I just luurrrvvv Ms Spindler’s stories being based in a great city of my home state..... although she could throw in a bit more local flavor for us “great food addicts”.
All in all, another hit here - check it out, y’all!

This is the third book in the series and I recommend reading the first two in the series if you haven't already. They follow Detectives Dare and Harris as they solve crimes that are not as they seem. Each book has its own mystery, but have one storyline that runs through all of them. If you have read some other books by Erica Spindler, you may recognize some of the other characters that make an appearance.

This book finds Detective Dare questioning herself and reality. It also has those around her questioning her sanity, especially the one person she thought would have her back. Detective Harris is battling his own past as Detective Dare is battling hers. Are they able to come back to the present before it is too late to save one another? Will Detective Dare be able to save those she loves and cares about?

If you like mysteries with a little bit of paranormal mixed in, I recommend this series. I have really enjoyed all 3 books in this series and cannot wait for the next one.
