I honestly could barely finish this one. Unsure if this was a case of "this book could have been better," or "this was was just not for me." I think that many will have trouble enjoying this one due to its choppy writing style, and lack of developed characters. The sentences just didn't seem to connect to one another fluidly, and I found it very challenging to remain focused while reading this one.

That being said, if you want to delve into a more unique story, with unconventional writing styles, this may be just the book for you. I don't think that this book was inherently bad, I just think it needs a set of very open eyes.

This review is based on an ARC of Tree Dreams which I received courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher (Spark Press).

Tree Dreams is a very nice story which evokes very powerful feelings. I loved the main character, Jade; she felt very real (and very weird, but still real). There isn't really much that I can think to say for the story itself. The storyline was very interesting and moving, and the flow and the timing were excellent. This whole story felt very realistic and believable.

This being said, although I do think that many people will find this story enjoyable, I also believe that many more people will have a hard time with the execution--the writing itself. Kristin Kaye writes in a very choppy sort of flow-of-conscious style. Reading this--not only because of the style, but also the content--felt like being in a fever dream. The sentences were slipping, sliding, one to the next. I often found myself skimming, as I felt that if I tried to slow down and read at the pace that I normally do I would get confused trying to decipher meaning or intention. Though I didn't necessarily love this writing style, I still managed to read it fairly easily and quickly. I just know that it's not for everyone. However, I also think that this flow-of-conscious storytelling suits the story very well.

Tree Dreams is by no means a bad book, but it isn't for everyone, so keep that in mind if you don't like unique writing styles.

Tree Dreams is an enchanting and pleasant read. Kristin Kaye has a distinctive writing style that had me hooked from the very beginning and left me wanting to know more. Personally, I would have wanted more world-building, but it did not ruin the overall feel of the story.
I would definitely recommend this book if you are a fan of New Adult contemporary books, as you will very much enjoy this story.

I look forward to reading many more of Kristin Kaye's work.
