This was my first Opal Carew book, and even though parts of it were rushed and didn't make sense, it was a good enough read for me. It did start off slow though and took me a while to get into it so it will be up to the individual reader whether or not they stick with it or not. I'm glad I did even when in parts the characters and plot definitely tested my patience because them and it were so frustrating sometimes.

This had potential to be a good story but failed to get there.

Opal Carew is a favourite of mine but unfortunately this book just didnt hit the mark. Between the wishy washy plot to the annoying and at times slutty female I just couldn’t get into it. I opened this book with the understanding that the two men would come to an understanding for Abi. To be honest i dont even know why either one wanted her. Her character was beyond over the top.

Hit and miss.. 2.5 stars

I have a ton of mixed feelings about this book. I have read several books by this author now. In fact, I just finished one not too long ago. So when I started delving into this story, I have to say I was a bit shocked.
The main issue for me is the female character Abi. She is so unlike any other character that this author has developed before. Maybe that’s the problem. Comparing her to other books.
However, with the underlying theme of one woman trying to decide between two men, the way this book was written sheds a negative light on Abi. She comes off kind of trampy and very unsure of her feelings.
I don’t get me wrong. I’ve read many books that share a MFM theme that work. This one did not work until you were about 3/4 of the way through the book. Had the “solution“ be introduced earlier, it may have made for a better read.
I did not connect with any of the characters really because I was so fixated on the slutty ways of Abi. The only reason I kept reading was I hoped the author would turn the book around and find a solution for the problem. And she did. The book got much better around the halfway mark.
The book does have some positive attributes one of which is if you are looking for a book about loads of steamy sex and trying to decide between two hot men, this is it. Unfortunately, that really was not enough to salvage a better review, from me, at least. On Goodreads, 2 stars means it's was ok... and that is where this lands for me

So my main problem with the story was pretty much the story writing style I can get with but the story being told wasn't believable or even something I could relate to.
I expected for some mutual understanding between two men about a woman. But what I got was a woman married to a man who she has amazing sexual chemistry with but no love on her end. She's been wanting her brothers best friend for years that I think it's shadowed what is right in front of her.
She seems ungrateful and selfish. Liam seemed genuine and Del seemed...I don't know exactly. But this book lacked story where it had sex

This was a good romance. I liked how she couldn’t decide between the two men. She did end up happy!

I’m a fan of Opal Carew’s, but unfortunately this one fell flat for me. I could not connect with the characters or the premise of the story.

Wow were to start...
Ok so I read Heat a few months back and that was my first encounter with this author. It was an ok read but nothing I would go back and re-read. When this story fell into my netgalley tbr pile I thought let's give it another go because there's plenty of authors I've read were not all of their books are my cup of tea. This book was worse! I'm not trying to be cruel to the author.. but this story was a freaking struggle to read. If it weren't for me reviewing it I would of dnf it.
I did not like Abi what's so fucking ever. She was childish, manipulative, condescending and an all round idiotic character. She wanted everything but nothing. She played the victim when it suited her. She was so easy to hate it's not even funny.
Liam was the most likeable thing about the story and even then I was so frustrated with him. I wanted him to grow balls and tell her to fuck off. He fucked up but he was hurting to and she had no understanding of that. He didn't defend himself enough, he was like a lapdog waiting to be petted.
Del again is another lapdog. Firstly your running after your besties wife after setting them up because you didnt have the balls to make a move on her. Secondly you know he loves his wife despite her being a brat and your being a worm and moving in on her. Thirdly you didn't want her with him then all of a sudden your down for a poly relationship? Fuck no!, get outta here with that big pile of steaming turd.
Uch I can't even I swear. I couldn't connect to characters I dislike or have zero respect for. The story jumped all over the place and I found myself skimming a tonne!. The sex could be hot at times but some of the terminology just made me cringe. The whole polygamy/ polyamory thing is something that doesn't bother me and when done right can be so fucking hot but this just didn't make sense. It didn't fit and to me didn't work. I didn't get any of it and it guts me to have such a negative review because I don't want that shit. I want to love everything I read because I love romance but I'm sorry this just didn't work for me.
I kindly received this ARC from the publisher via netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Holy hot Batman! Why choose when you can have both? I delicious wish fulfiillment wrapped in fantasy, a perfect pick for romance readers looking for more edge to their HEA's.

Abi has been in love with Del for years, but they never got around to acting on their mutual attraction. And then she met and married his best friend, Liam. But when Abi and Liam’s marriage falls apart, Abi decides to take control of her life and find her happily-ever-after with Del. So when they’re all staying in a country inn for her brother’s wedding, Abi decides to slip into Del’s bed and seduce him. When I started reading I couldn't put it down I read the book i couldn't put it down. Opal is magnifysent writer.I cannot wait to read more of her books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book.

Received an arc and am voluntarily leaving a review. This book was awesome. But every book by this author is awesome. Exciting plot. Fun characters. A home run in my book.

Very sexy, as I would expect from an Opal Carew book. Abi is separated from Liam but wants Dell. She thinks she wants to divorce LIam,, is just waiting for him to sign the papers, but it turns out that maybe there's a way for the 3 of them to be together. I'm not entirely sure I bought the whole way it played out, but it was a fast, sexy read.
But I would say that the strangest thing about this book was all of the magical thinking about how pregnancy works. Not a whole lot about it made sense, and it did bother me. There's so much of it, and it felt more like a distraction than anything else.

I am a big fan of Opal Carew. I have loved the beginning of the story up to the point where they all went away together, and it went a bit down hill after that. Abi I found her at time too selfish, Del and Liam are supposed to be best friends but I didn't see any connection between them. Personally I would have preferred Abi to choose only Liam but hey, this was a menage story. The sex scenes very very hot though. Big thumps up there.
I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review that is all my own.

Abi has never gotten over her failed pregnancy which resulting in her being unable to have children. She fell out with her husband, Liam, due his withdrawal at this tragic time and has been waiting for him to sign the divorce papers for years. She still wishes her brothers best man, Del, didn’t feel the urge to protect her rather than act on their unrequited love and has decided to do something about it at her brothers wedding. I found this story entertaining but with absolutely no emotional depth hence the rating. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I loved reading the amazing and captivating romance story. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of the story written by the phenomenally talented author, Opal Carew.
Abbi lost her baby, and her husband, Liam, became closed off from her, and Abbi's friend, Del, was there for her. Liam wants Abbi back and refuses to sign the divorce papers. Del decides its time to go after what he wants and loves, Abbi.
Read the highly recommended and wonderfully written love story capturing and engaging the reader throughout the story.

Hot ménage romance, with emotional, family setting of a permanent nature.
Very good book.

My rating: <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2314856541">1 of 5 stars</a><br /><br />
I have read others by Opal Carew and enjoyed them. Her books usually have characters that have been well developed and the storylines make sense. I was happy to get an advanced copy of this one for that reason. I was sorely disappointed. I pushed to finish the book, because I thought there would be some plot twist coming that would change my opinion. Once or twice, I even knew what the plot twist coming was. But where usually it would be done in such a way that it was seamless, part of the story and compelling to the plot. Instead, this time around, it felt forced and unrelated. I could not bring myself to like the characters at all. I didn't like any of them. I didn't like Abi, Liam or Del. All 3 were extremely selfish and self centered. I didn't like her family or their situation. The whole Master scenario between her and Liam felt forced and thrown in because everyone is doing it now. This entire book felt like a mishmash of plot lines and devices from other books thrown together to meet a deadline. There wasn't any development of character, plot or story. Even the sex scenes, normally handled really well by Opal, were flat and forced. The book was very formulaic which isn't always a bad thing but this one had too many formulas thrown in together and they did not mesh. I know an author puts their hearts and souls into their books and I prefer to find something enjoyable in them. I just couldn't in this one.

The idea of crossing paths with her gorgeous longtime friend Del at her brothers wedding has Abi nervous and excited, it has been a while since they have seen one another, and the last time wasn't on the best of terms. Abi's marriage was coming to an end, she was dealing with some of devastating news, and Del was there to help her sort things out. She has always been able to count on him, and has always harbored feelings for him, but he friend zoned her years ago, so she moved on and married his best friend. And while she loves Liam, she knows their marriage is never going to recover, so it's time for her to move on, and she knows exactly who she wants to move on with... Del, now she just has to convince him it's the right move for them.
But before she has a chance to make her feelings known to Del, Liam walks back into her life and her bed and muddies the waters... and leaves her wondering if she is doing the right thing. And with the right man...
X Marks the Spot is an intriguing, seductive, and emotional tale that is sure to have romance readers addicted from the first page! Within the pages of this one, you will meet a troubled woman who has deep feelings for two men; one who she is married to and hoping to divorce soon, and the other, a best friend who she harbors feelings for, and wants to make known. But these two men have plans of their own, and once they share them with her, she is left beyond confused, she thought it was a cut and dry situation, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. Both want a life with her, and she can't decide which one to walk away from and which one to walk to... and man o' man was it fun to watch it all unfold... it produces an ending that you will never see coming! I really enjoyed this one, love triangles are my favorite trope and I have to say this one definitely rivaled some of my absolute favorites; it stirred the emotions, made me blush, and kept me entranced from start to finish!! Highly recommend this one, it's sure to scorch your fingertips and curl your toes!!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley, and voluntarily read and review

I found this book somewhat slow and unbelievable. The characters seemed wishy washy, strong characters becoming weak and weak characters becoming strong. I didn't understand the marriage breakup and a 2 year pending divorce, then they are sleeping together, with her becoming pregnant, when she was told she cannot get pregnant, and then her going and sleeping with the man she has been lusting after for years.
Just too all over the place for me

I usually love Carew's erotica. However X Marks the Spot fell flat. Half way through I almost stopped reading it. The last 4-5 chapters were okay. That's why I gave the book 3 stars.
