This would be my first cyber/hacking book and I’m really impressed! This books is a great start to a very promising series. I loved the mystery and the storyline the only pitfall for me was it was almost an insta love which I’m not personally crazy about. I would definitely recommend this book!

Chloe was a crime reporter for the Boston Times. Chloe had went to far on an article about a dirty Politician who hurt prostitutes but publicly acted like this perfect family man. So Chloe had been suspended and her reputation was tarnished. So Chloe landed at LAX and a man came forward and he said he was Maxwell from Elite Travel and someone had ordered a car for her - a nice sedan. Then car must have been ordered by her identical twin Eden. who was always extravagant. Chloe told the driver she was there to visit her sister for a week. Chloe tried to call Eden and her sell went right to voicemail. The next day came and Eden still hadn’t showed up and Chloe went to the police and basically got blown off. Chloe knew Eden wouldn’t just blow her off she had known Chloe was coming to visit. Chloe then uses her journalistic resources and is told about an FBI agent -Gage- and she goes to him to see if he would help Chloe find her twin. Gage is good at his job and just who Chloe needs to help her find Eden. Even if Gage is a butt. Gage does eventually believe something isn’t right about Eden missing and starts looking into it. Chloe puts herself into danger but her love for Eden gave her strength and determination to continue to look for her twin. Gage and Chloe are attracted to each other but Gage’s concern was for his job and the case he was on. They learn Eden was living a secret life and was kidnapped.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Loved how Chloe knew her twin and knew something was wrong. I liked that even though Gage was a butt at times he did try to keep Chloe safe. I did really like the ending.. At times I was on the end of my seat while reading this as more things are learned the chance of danger increases. I did love the twists of this books and I really liked the suspense in this book. I did feel this dragged at times. I liked the plot a lot. I had no problem with keeping my attention on this book as I read it. I loved the characters and the twists and turns in this book and I recommend.

I received an arc from Netgalley. This is a deep story set in the depths of the dark net. Chloe and Gage are two characters that were drawn to each other instantly. Gage felt a protectiveness of Chloe and had second guesses about their relationship due to a past loss.

This book takes you on a journey through the dark net and beyond. It definitely won’t disappoint you.

I hope Holts story among others are in the near future as the other characters intrigued me just as much as the main characters.

Title and author: Blood & Lace by Trinity Scott
Series: Dark Net - Book 1
Publisher: Pocket Star
Releases: March 26, 2018

Genre: Suspense
Rating: 4 Stars

The Dark Net series begins with a situation which causes questions to be raised yet few answers can be found. As a reporter and a FBI agent diligently search for any information about a missing woman, they discover there is also an unexpected attraction between them, and the desire each feels for the other is like nothing either has ever experienced before. Danger is always a possibility as more facts are learned, and the storyline tosses in some unanticipated twists that I did not see coming. Trinity Scott has constructed a compelling book about individuals who will do anything to find the truth by taking risky chances. BLOOD AND LACE has dangerous exploits, strong-minded characters, and passionate encounters.

As a reporter on crimes for a Boston newspaper, Chloe Sterling sometimes goes too far when getting information, and what happened on a recent assignment led to a suspension. Since she has not seen her twin sister lately, it seems like a great time to visit Los Angeles. Though her sibling is not home when she arrives, Chloe knows a modeling shoot can run overtime. But when there is still no sign of her sister by morning, she fears something has gone terribly wrong.

When the authorities with whom Chloe speaks seem to think everything is all right, she once again takes matters into her own hands. There is a local FBI agent named Gage Pierce, and she wants him to investigate the disappearance of her sister because he has a reputation for closing cases. While Gage does agree to see if he can find her sister’s whereabouts, Chloe is unwilling to follow his advice to not be involved in looking for any evidence.

Since Gage tries to abide by the rules he has been given as an agent, and Chloe is often more interested in getting results, they clash over how each handle looking for her sister. She often lets her emotions direct her actions, and I sometimes worried about her safety because she so desperately wanted to find her sister. Gage has personal reasons for beings a stickler when it comes to not deviating from a plan, and I felt his anxiety when Chloe followed her own path. While they could not always agree when it came to the investigation, the yearning that fueled their desire for each another was certainly mutual. There is one particular scene which has enough explosive heat to ignite a blaze.

Trinity Scott skillfully entwines the many situations where feelings are influencing reactions with the more perilous happenings to create a captivating novel of suspense and romance. What is actually going on in BLOOD AND LACE is cleverly handled, as many clues are given but guesses kept changing as new details were exposed. Several secondary characters featured in the story have really grabbed my attention, and I am hoping each one gets their own book.

I voluntarily reviewed the book from the publisher via NetGalley, and all comments are my honest opinion

Anyone who knows me knows that I love Hacker/cyber stories ALOT. For that reason I enjoyed Chloe and Gage's story immensely. I thought Gage was protective, caring and sexy and Chloe was a spitfire determined to find the truth. They were a great match!

When Chloe Sterling goes on a trip to visit her identical twin sister Eden, she knows something is amiss when her sister completely disappears without a trace. She seeks the help of Special agent Gage Pierce of the FBI's cyber crime division to help locate her. But she never expected to develop such a fiery chemistry with this cyber crime expert.

I enjoyed this story. I thought Gage and Chloe were sexy and the chemistry hot. I enjoyed the suspenseful story and hope there is more in this series in the future. Bravo! 4 stars!~Ratula

Interesting mystery of a twin (Eden) who is kidnapped and the sister (Chloe) approaches FBI Special Agent Gage Pierce, who was offered as a potential contact by a friend. I have to say it is a little implausible that Gage would investigate this, but I was willing to believe.

Some twin confusion helps the investigation move forward and reveals that Eden was living a secret life. There is a whole lotta sex or thinking about sex between Gage and Chloe mingled into the worry about Eden. Their investigation is filled with danger.

Blood and Lace is a great start to a series that hopefully will feature Eden in the next book. I want to see how she overcomes the kidnapping and brutality that she experienced at the hands of her abductor.

Blood & Lace – Trinity Scott

I was fortunate to receive this novel as an Advance Reader Copy, in exchange for an objective review.
Chloe Sterling, a reporter who is presently suspended from work due to her less than ethical tactics, has arrived in California to visit her twin sister, Eden. But Eden is nowhere to be found, and when the local police department seem less than interested in Eden’s disappearance, she turns to FBI Special Agent Gage Pierce for help.

Gage is immersed in his own work, but he feels an instant attraction to Chloe, and that attraction is reciprocated. As Gage investigates Eden’s employer, Provocative, Inc, he also learns that Eden had a side job, producing risqué podcasts from home, for an organization called Red Light Productions. Chloe, not about to sit idle, follows Gage and attempts some research on her own, landing on the radar of Eden’s abductor.

With the help of some non-law enforcement friends in high places, Gage and Chloe immerse themselves in Eden’s life and activities in attempts to re-trace her steps. As they unknowingly close in on a killer, they play right into his hands, and the killer closes in as well…

This book sucked me in with the first paragraph, and I read it cover to cover in a few short hours! A great read, with intrigue in spades, and just enough hot romance to keep readers engrossed and wanting more. I hope to see this crew of unorthodox investigators in future novels!! I thoroughly enjoyed this novel!!

I found this book to be a great start to what promises to be an intriguing series. Some readers might feel like this book is a little slow, but in the overall scheme of things, that's necessary. A chunk of this book is focused on setting up the series and the connection between the different characters that become part of Gage's team. I found the premise and those different characters very interesting, and I look forward to reading each and every one of their stories. This first one revolves around Gage and Chloe, both of whom I liked a lot. The plot is interesting, the characters are well developed, and the story kept me interested throughout. This is the first book I've read by this author (maybe it's her debut--I certainly couldn't find anything else on Goodreads), and I'm really glad I found her.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC for review.

I liked the romance between Chloe and Gage. I found Chloe's "twintuition" to be interesting and accurate, from what I know of twins. Although it was pretty easy to figure who the villain was, I still enjoyed the read. The HEA for me wasn't up to my usual expectations and fell flat for me. The rest of the read was enjoyable, so overall, I'd recommend it.
