One Fine Day is a story of bad choices, second chances, absolution & forgiveness. Jonah & Abigail have been friends forever. His family was the same as hers throughout their childhood. It was that sense of family that had Abigail agreeing to be a surrogate after Jonah's wife, Veronica, had several miscarriages & their adoption attempt fell through. When the child was found to have a possibility of severe birth defects, Veronica said there would be an abortion or no support payments. Abigail couldn't fathom going through an abortion when the doctors weren't 100% certain of the defects. She just didn't know that by saying no to the abortion she was going to loose her entire support system.

Five years later, Abigail is running an in. She's inherited in Hazel Green, Illinois & her daughter, Eva Grace is doing well. Jonah, now divorced from Veronica, has taken a job as Sheriff in order to try to reconnect with Abigail & see how the daughter he never acknowledged is doing. He wants to regain his standing in their lives. EvaGrace has no idea who he is. Can Abigail open her heart to him despite the past hurt? Will she allow Jonah to know his daughter?

From the first heartbreaks by moment, Abigail had my sympathy. The descriptive prose brings her heart ache, hurt & disillusionment to the reader's heart. It took a lot of courage & love for her daughter to open her heart & mind to what could be. The relationship between Abigail & Jonah was always strong but neither had the courage to acknowledge it when they were young. Would they now? The characters were perfect. Abigail was a strong, independent, lovely woman through character & necessity. Jonah was more loyal, patient & giving than his past actions showed. This was a lovely start to a new series.

I give this book 5 stars. The storyline between Jonah and Abby was very well written. It draws on immediately. I whole heartedly recommend this book. It has betrayal, second chances, friends new and old, love, struggles that are won and a HEA ending. I received this Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the Publisher and am voluntarily reviewing this book.

After reading many mysteries and thrillers I was in a mood for a feel-good love novel. I was very lucky to come across this heartwarming book.

Abigail Fine and Jonah Rollins have been friends since an early childhood. When Abby's mother passed away, Jahan's family accepted Abigail as one of their own. Therefore years later, when Johan and his wife went thru many failed options to have a child - Abby offers to be their surrogate. Everything in life comes with a challenge. During the pregnancy, a doctor informs the future parents of child's possible defects and/or health issue. Jonah's wife makes a decision to abort the child, but Abby disagrees. As a result, Jonah decides to stand by his wife's side and her decision, leaving Abby on her own, with a child she didn't want nor planned to have.

Six dreadful years later, Abby finds herself in a very happy place. She runs an inn in a historic suburb town of Chicago, Hazel Green. It was always her dream to run her own business. And her five eyers old daughter, Eva Grace, is happy, healthy and charming little girl.

Jonah's unexpected arrival into Hazel Green takes Abby back to the hurtful time six years ago. Jonah determined to make things right this time around. He wants to be a part of his daughter's life and make amends with Abby. This time is up to Abby to make a decision. Will she find a forgiveness in her heart and press a reset button on her and Jonah's relationship?

"One Fine Day" is a bittersweet story about friendship, forgiveness, love and second chances.

P.S. This is a first book of the series. I am very excited to read more about wonderful characters of charming town Hazel Green.

I really loved this book. Others have summarized the plot, so I won't do that here. But I wanted to list some of the things I enjoyed.

The story is set in the suburb of Hazel Green. There is a nice supporting cast of characters, each with their own challenges, and I am hoping for more stories in this setting. I liked seeing the town too - the carnivals, markets, etc.

The main character was strong - she was determined to do what was right, and so focused on being a good mother. I really liked her.

I loved the theme of family in this book too - and it did such a good job of showing how much a 5 year old child can impact the lives of those who love her.

Finally [ I like the idea that bad decisions shouldn't dictate the rest of a person's life. They shouldn't be ignored either, but I loved that regret was acknowledged and eventually overcome.

I had previously read Cindy Kirk’s Good Hope series and really enjoyed them, and I was excited to read her new series. The premise of this story is that Abby and Jonah had been best friends since childhood. Jonah and his wife were unable to have children and enlist Abby as a surrogate. They are given a very dire prognosis during the pregnancy. Jonah’s wife insists that Abby abort the child. Abby refuses and expects Jonah to stand up for his child, and her. He does not. Abby chooses to raise the child on her own. Five years have passed and Jonah is now divorced and wants to be a part of his daughter’s life. I wondered as I read this how they could redeem Jonah. He deserted his child and his best friend, and didn’t try to see either of them for five years (he did send letters and money, Abby took the money, but didn’t read any of the letters). What I really liked was that the forgiveness took time. So many second chance stories have the love interests get over the issue so quickly. Abby had the right to be hurt, and Jonah realized that he could not demand forgiveness and needed to prove he was the man Abby and his daughter deserved. I also enjoyed the introduction of other characters that will be in future books. Cindy Kirk has written another series I will be anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. I was given an Advance Reader Copy of the book for my honest opinion.

The cover of the book first drew me to the book and I was hooked from the first page. Abby decided to help her friends, Jonah and Veronica, by becoming a surrogate but is left raising the child on her own. Veronica wanted a perfect baby and when she got the news that the baby could be special needs, she decided she no longer wanted to continue with the pregnancy. Abby becomes a single parent and inherits a hotel. A few years later, Jonah shows up and wants to be a father to his daughter and part of Abby's life.

The book centers around friendship, love, family and forgiveness. I loved reading about Abby and the life she made with Eva Grace and the town where they lived.

I definitely want to read more books by the author and highly recommend the book.

Thanks to NetGalley, Kindle Press and the author, Cindy Kirk, for a free electronic ARC of this novel.

I have read other books by Cindy Kirk and have enjoyed the detail of getting to know one by one the residents in the towns in her series. This new town of Hazel Green is no different. It is a warm small town that I would live in with a few unique personalities that I foresee would make good subjects future additions to the series. We are started out wondering how the dark prologue will resolve. She did an excellent job of grabbing my attention to read well into the night to see how Abby Fine would find a way to soften her heart. We all have at one point in our lives have said to ourselves, I would never act that way, in that circumstance. But the day passes and things transpire and we find our self-rethinking that former ‘never’. This is a heart warming story of forgiveness.

One Fine Day by Cindy Kirk a four-star read you won’t forget. I hadn’t read anything by this author before but had heard really amazing things so I was excited to read it as the people who talked about the author spoke with passion and reverence, maybe I was expecting too much I don’t know, I enjoyed the overall story and the writing and found it to be a compelling read at times, but at the same time, there were parts I was wondering why they were doing things without giving spoilers it’s hard to explain. I can honestly say I would recommend the book even though I haven’t enjoyed it as much as I was expecting as I would give it another go in the future it was mostly well written and I do think a lot of people will enjoy this story. Abby has a story to tell and it’s a very powerful and honest story, it will make you stop and think, and hopefully change the way some people think.

Really enjoyed this new book by Cindy Kirk. It tackled some difficult subjects like abortion, surrogacy and forgiveness. The story is about Abby and Jonah and the missed opportunities and ethical decisions that they had to go through. It is also a love story between Abby and Jonah and this shines through Cindy Kirk's writing.

We meet Abby at the beginning of her journey when she is left devastated after decisions made by Jonah and his wife. Then the story continues 5 years later when Abby is in a much better place and is strong and capable, living a new life. Jonah comes back into her life and Abby has to make the decision whether to let him in to her life or not.

Another great read by Cindy Kirk and I didn't want to put it down.

I found this to be a book of 2 halves, maybe I'm the vindictive type but I definitely identified more with Abigail the first half of the book when you got the back story than the second love story part. I loved Eva Grace and Abigail's circle of friends but didn't really get the love story or how the grandparents could live without being part of her life. I'd visit the characters again but hope that the others are more believable than this forgive and forget within a couple of weeks after years of struggle.

I definitely consider myself a fan of Cindy Kirk and was really excited to hear that she was starting a new series.
This book did not rank among my favorites of hers but I think that this works well as an entry into a series as it introduces us to a slew of new and interesting characters in a new location. I could have done with less about what everyone wore from different eras all of the time, an attempt at local color that I found more annoying than charming.
The writing was still strong and I loved all of the strong friendships and loyalty displayed among the core group of characters. My main issue though was with the relationship between Abby and Jonah, We are told that they were life long best friends but I never felt any closeness between them. A few times they referenced growing up together but even those stories did not illustrate a real bond other outside of familiarity with Jonah's family. When the romantic feeling started, to me, they came out of the blue and I could not buy into them. It seemed more convenient than heartfelt. I wish less time had been spent in reiterating whether or not Jonah should be held to blame for his past actions and more time had been spent on developing the chemistry between them.
I am still excited to see what will happen next in Hazel Green.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Abby decided to become the surraget for Jonah and than wife veronica. The doc says there may be a few problems with the baby. She wants her to get rid of the baby. She can't do it. She goes way after the threats made by veronica. She raises the little girl Eva Grace by herself. It was truly a great book. I loved how he does what he does and they finally get their stuff together and everything. When Eva Grace finds out about Jonah she is thrilled.
I am voluntarily reviewing this arc of this book

One Fine Day is the story of Abby Fine who agrees to serve as a surrogate for her best friend and his wife. And then things go terribly wrong and five years later, Abby is a single mom in Hazel Green, IL, an over-the-top cute suburb of Chicago straight out of central casting (i.e. completely unbelievable).

Abby is a decent heroine if a little wishy-washy, and Jonah, the hero, is sympathetically neither all good nor all bad. He is actually the more interesting of the two. But both are well drawn and while the chemistry and speed of the relationship development might strain credulity, it wasn't outside the bounds of believable.

There are some nice details included in the story, and I just wish Kirk knew when to stop. Less is more. Show, don't tell. Rather than adding to the story, much of the exposition and needless detail served to distract and rather than bringing the setting to life, made it seem so unbelievable and unrelatable that it took away from the whole story.

In the end, though, this is a romance, and not a bad one. I found it satisfying taken just at face value and if I didn't think too hard about it. The supporting characters are interesting, and as the first in a new series, it sets up further stories well. I may or may not read a new one by Kirk, but less picky readers will find something to like here.

First of all – full disclosure. I have read the Good Hope series by Ms Kirk and I have enjoyed every one of those books. But, this book is even better than those books.

When I first read the prologue, I felt so much pain. I am sure it would be a small portion of the pain that a mother like Abby would feel in the same situation.

This is a feel good story about people who care for one another, are protective of one another and enjoy living in the small town of Hazel Green. After reading about Hazel Green, I can picture Happily Ever Afters all over the place.

Abby became a surrogate mother for a very good friend, Jonah, and his wife, Veronica. Abby is carrying an egg from another woman which has been fertilized by Jonah's sperm. When the doctor announces that the child will be born with massive health issues, Veronica becomes hysterical and determines the baby should be aborted immediately. Abby refuses.

The story picks up nearly 6 years later. Abby has inherited a small boutique hotel and she now lives in Hazel Green Illinois. This is a small town which has welcomed her by involving her in town activities and using her talents as an organizer. She has 4 very close women friends who give her a true sense of being a part of things. Her life has become though not a perfect life, a good life.

At a town gala, she comes face to face with the new chief of police. It is Jonah.

Abby is a driven woman whose family background led her to become an adult who is determined to succeed at what ever she does. She is intelligent, kind, thoughtful and very caring for the people in her life. Eva Grace, her daughter is the focus of her life. The hotel, her friends, all matter but Eva Grace is the center of her world.

Jonah is a man who carries the burden of guilt with him. His family provided support for Abby when they were children. His parents treated her as though she were a daughter. In short, Jonah comes from a family situation which was everything Abby's was not. He is a good man who finds that he is out of his depth. He does not know how, but he hopes to become a part of Eva Grace's life.

Eva Grace is a force unto herself. She is cheerful, bright, competitive and most of all a typical little girl. She was definitely a highlight of this story.

This is not a simple story. The reader is drawn into a situation which not everyone will face. No matter what choices are made, there will be pain and thoughts of what might have been. Each of us must make choices every day which may have repercussions years in the future. Being able to forgive, being able to understand one another, being able to look at life through other's eyes are all things which may come to each of us.

This is a marvelous book.

I can see that a future series will be a part of Hazel Green and Abby's friends. Each of the women are individuals who face challenges gracefully and yet with power.

All the characters are well drawn and complete.

The plot is very well done. Ms Kirk has created a world that is interesting, entertaining and warm as a grandma's quilt.

I loved this book and once I started, I was unable to stop reading until I was through. That fact played havoc with my list of chores.

I received this book from the author. I am voluntarily writing this review and all opinions are my own.

This book is a toss up for me. I enjoyed some of the story but overall it was hard to read. It has potential to be a better book, but falls flat.

I appreciate character development, but they couldn't pass someone on the street without us finding out their whole life story. It was pretty obvious how the story would end up from the beginning so for me there was really not plot. There were also parts of the story that we are never given answers for. The main characters friend, Nell, has a mysterious man trailing her throughout the last half of the book, I thought this was going to be the twist in the plot I had been hoping for. Instead, we just never find out who he is or anything about him. That being said, I didn't hate the book, I just wish for closure on some questions and a bit more...plot.

Abigail Fine decided to help her friends by becoming a surrogate for their first baby. But, when things don’t go as planned, she’s left to raise the special needs daughter on her own. Abigail wouldn’t have it any other way. Jonah Rollins has regrets about leaving Abigail to raise his child on her own. Five years later, he wants to know his daughter and find some happiness. Will Abigail let him forge a relationship with the daughter he never knew? Can Abigail forgive him and release the past to find love again?
Ms. Kirk has done it again. This is a great start to a new romance series full of great characters, an intriguing plot, and a satisfying ending. I love how the author shows the characters dealing with sensitive issues and problems, and how they forgive the past and each other to forge a better future. Reading one of Ms. Kirk’s books is like going on the best romantic vacation ever. I can’t wait to read the next one! I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it.

This is a start of a new series by Ms. Kirk(author of the Good Hope Series) Abby has learned to adapt to disappointments. She is a single mother raising her five year old daughter Emma Grace as she runs her small hotel in the Hazel Green neighborhood. She finds out the new chief of police is Jonas, a man from her past who has disappointed her very badly. As Jonah reveals to Abby why he has truly moved to this neighborhood has Abby having to deal with issues that she never wanted to deal with again. This story is about starting over, forgiveness and second chances. Emma Grace was a delight and meeting the other characters of the city who will eventually get their own story was great addition to the storyline. Reviews will be on Goodreads and Amazon.

One fine day is a page turner from the start. It is a story of friendships past and present, trust and the rekindling of relationships. The story touches on a couple of sensitive issues and dilemmas with just enough detail to set the scene and not weigh the reader down. This book for me is about second chances, true love and forgiveness. I loved this book and was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy from the publishers for a voluntary review. I cannot wait for more books from this author.
