This is the first of any of Cindy Kirk’s books that I have read and I have been pleasantly satisfied with the read. This was a heart warming and easy going read and it’s been a while since I’ve read a book like this so it was a nice change. I wouldn’t say that I was hurrying to get through to find out the ending, as once you start, you quickly figure out where the story is going to go. That said, I still wanted to read the whole story to follow the journey to the ending.

I’m going to through something out there, a little outside of the box! My favourite character was Nell. I loved the way she was so straight talking, right to the point and doesn’t pack any punches. She reminded me of myself. The last few chapters are left on a little cliffhanger regarding Nell, so I can only assume that Hazel Green #2 will follow Nell more closely. I look forward to reading #2 and finding out more about her.

So to conclude, I gave One Fine Day a solid 3 stars. Although I enjoyed the book and found it pleasant, it didn’t rock my world so to speak. I’d perhaps recommend this as a chilled weekend read when you don’t have the brain capacity to think about anything too deep.

*I received an ARC from Netgalley for an honest review* so thank you Cindy Kirk and Netgalley!

I'm a giant fan of the Good Hope series from Cindy so of course I had high hopes for a new town and new residents. One Fine Day did not disappoint! The prologue had me a little worried that it was going to be a sad start to the new series, at times it was sad, but of course I should have had faith in Cindy about the perfect "Aww" moments and the happily ever after. Eva Grace is adorable and the second chance for Abby and Jonah was perfect.

A great book, from the first page I was hooked. The story is about past friendships and trust. All the characters were so believable and I liked the strong personalities of those I met whilst turning the pages.
Abby becomes a surrogate mother for a friend, complications ensue and the deal is off. This is the story of Abby and what she achieved in the first five years of her daughters life. The friend she thought she lost, comes to town to regain her trust and they both get so much more.

Just by seeing the cover, I knew this book would be extremely cute and I probably would enjoy it. But actually, for my surprise, the adorable Eva Grace wasn't the only reason that made me like it.

Abby has a very strong personality. She wanted to help her friend Jonah and his wife, Veronica, serving as a surrogate mother. But, when the doctor tells them that the baby wouldn't be able to move her arms and legs, they decide not to continue the pregnancy. Abby doesn't agree with that. Even though she's not the biologycal mother, the baby was inside her belly and no one could force her to abort if she didn't want to. She thought that Jonah would help her. She thought he would be there for his kid, even if they weren't a couple, even if his wife didn't want to be a mother anymore. After all, they were good friends. But, for her total disappointment, he left her alone.

So, Abby was a single parent. She did everything she could for her daughter, Eva Grace. Luckly, after years of treatment, the little girl is completely healthy, like any other kid. And then, Jonah comes back in the picture. He wants forgiveness. He wants to be in his daughter's life. Does he deserve that?

It makes you reflect on your principles. What would you do if you were Abby? Would you have the baby? Would you forgive her father, even though he wasn't there when you needed him the most? Is the rest of Eva Grace's life more important than those five complicated years? When you see the sweet cover, you probably don't imagine that this child was born paralyzed. But then, when you read her story, you realize it's not so easy to answer these questions.

It's not my place to judge parents who decide to terminate pregnancies when they know the babies won't be healthy. I think we all have reasons to do the things we do. I don't know if I would be brave enough to do what Abby did, especially knowing that I would be completely alone in this. But I admire her decision and I wish more stories had happy endings like hers.

This book has very minimal cursing (no f-bombs) and one sex scene that could be easily skipped if that bothers you. This is the first book of the Hazel Green series but it stands alone and DOES NOT end on a cliffhanger.

The cover for this book is fabulous and perfect – when I saw it I was drawn to it, but the more we got to know Eva Grace, the more I fell in love with it.

This is a really sweet story despite how it starts out. Abby's devotion to Eva Grace was nothing short of beautiful, and as the aunt of a special needs nephew, I was firmly Team Abby and Eva Grace from start to finish. I loved how Abby took care of her and how much she loved that little girl. Although Jonah made a bad decision that was hard to fathom, he never felt like a bad guy, so it was fun to watch his relationship with Eva Grace develop so sweetly and organically. Although the ending felt a bit rushed, I thought it was really great, and the happily ever after was everything I wanted for this little family.

***SPOILERS IN THIS PARAGRAPH ONLY*** The only thing I didn't like about this book was Nell's disgusting and hurtful comment to Abby about terminating pregnancies of children who might be born less than perfect being “humane”. Yes, she attributed it to “some people” to make herself seem less horrible for voicing that thought, but how dare this woman claim to be a good, caring friend to Abby, and yet say something so ignorant and to Abby – the only person who fought to keep Eva Grace from being terminated before she even had a chance to live - of all people? As I mentioned before, I am the aunt of a special needs child who would have been terminated to help “cleanse” the earth of people with special needs had the doctors had their way, but instead he's a twenty three year old, highly productive member of society who has a full and rich life despite the fact that he lives a little differently than most people his age. Her less-than-kind actions previously were off-putting but tolerable, but this comment, and especially it's target audience, turned me off of the character enough that I will not seek out her book.

If you're looking for a sweet, heart-felt read, you should definitely read this book. It will make you smile and give you the warm fuzzies.

I requested and was generously granted an ARC of this book via NetGalley and the publisher, I was under no obligation to write this review.

Such a nice surprise to get acquainted with a new cast of characters living in a new town. I was worried that it was going to be sad when I was reading the prologue. After such dire possibilities for the health of the baby Abby made sure that Eva Grace got the care she needed to have a full and happy life. I was glad that Abby and Jonah worked through all their issues. Especially that Veronica was honest in admitting that she had deleted Abby’s messages the day she gave birth to Eva Grace. Finally reading Jonah’s letters and finding out what Veronica had admitted to Jonah enabled Abby to leave the past in the past and move forward to a happy future with Jonah and Eva Grace.
I received an advanced copy for an honest review. I’m looking forward to more stories from Hazel Green!!

I am unable to send to my kindle since I have the Kindle app on my computer. I did not see this as the only option until after I had clicked on the request button and the send to Kindle came up.

I love the cover , perfect for right at Valentines. I also thought the description was wonderfully intriguing; spiking my interest. I give 5 stars for that If the PDF becomes available, I would be happy to read and review the book.
