Justice Betrayed is the third installment from Patricia Bradley’s Memphis Cold Case series. I thought it was pretty good. It is full of action, mystery and suspense. It was fun to have Elvis impersonators part of the story. Detective Rachel and her supervisor, Boone, go on quite of an adventure that involves some unpredictable twists and turns.
I give Justice Betrayed 4 stars and recommend it for those who love a good and clean suspense.

Do you like a good whodunnit?

The whodunnit storyline of Justice Betrayed by author Patricia Bradley is what caught my attention. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I didn’t know what to expect. I’m not an Elvis fan and I’ve never been to Memphis, but I love a good mystery, filled with intrigue and the challenge of solving a cold case.

Detective Rachel Sloan is asked in by Vic Vegas, an Elvis tribute artist, to help solve a murder mystery from seventeen years ago that may somehow be related to her own mother’s murder. At first, Rachel’s not too sure about this, after all it’s a cold case and she’s working in the homicide division. But after Vic turns up dead she wonders if there may be something more to the case he wanted her to investigate.

It took a few chapters before I got interested in the story. The story started out kind of slow and there were a lot of characters introduced early on and it was hard to keep track of them. But I’m glad that I kept on reading because before long the story picked up pace and I was hooked.

I liked the characters, especially the relationship between Rachel and Boone, and enjoyed the mysteries and trying to figure out whodunnit. Patricia did a good job giving the reader a feel for what Memphis may be like and the fascination with Elvis that continues to this day.

I appreciated that Justice Betrayed doesn’t contain profanity and immoral sexual situations. There wasn’t a lot of the Christian faith in this book, a Scripture verse and Rachel acknowledging that she had stopped turning to God because her prayers for justice seemed to be unanswered. I would have liked to seen more of the Christian faith woven into some of the characters and storyline.

If you like a good mystery, that will keep you guessing to the end, read Justice Betrayed by Patricia Bradley. I look forward to reading her other books.

I would like to thank Revell Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read Justice Betrayed by Patricia Bradley in exchange for an honest review. I was under no obligation to give a favorable review.

I found the setting of this book intriguing. It is set during an Elvis impersonator festival and Elvis impersonators are being killed off. I also liked that we get peaks into the motivation of the killer and why she turned out the way she was. The author casts the reader's suspicion on a few people of who the killer could be but doesn't fully give it away until the climax. It makes the reader try to figure out who it is and question everyone. There are also complicated family dynamics in the book with Rachel and her father and her grandmothers are delightful although at times I found it different to keep track of which grandmother was which. Nevertheless, this is a great romantic suspense novel.

I am reviewing a copy of Justice Betrayed through Revell and Netgalley:

Rachel Sloan is a homicide detective whose sure her day couldn’t get any stranger but when an aging Elvis Impersonator by the name of Vic Vegas produces a photo of her murdered Mother with four Elvis Impersonators she realizes she needs to reevaluate. Could there be a connection between both unsolved cases? Could the break in at Vic’s house be related to his obsession with finding Harrison Foxx’s murder.

When another person is murdered Rachel has her hands full investigating all three cases. She is offered help from Lieutenant Boone Callahan but their rocky romantic past may get in the way.

Can Rachel and Lieutenant Boone solve the murder or will Rachel become the fourth victim?

Five out of five stars!

From beginning to end, Justice Betrayed is completely compelling. It's the story of Rachel and Boone, two homicide detectives working together to solve a current murder that may be connected to two 17-year-old unsolved murders, one of which is Rachel's mother's murder.

This is one of the most fun mysteries that I've read in a long time! I loved how a few of the chapters were told from the killer's perspective, as this allowed me to really try to figure out who he/she was. I went back and forth among three people for about 3/4 of the novel, and I kept second guessing myself even after I settled on the correct person.

There's a hint of romance in the novel, as Boone and Rachel have a history and are clearly attracted to each other, but, as homicide coworkers, they're not allowed to be romantically involved. This made the romance thread quite light, and I enjoyed that the romance didn't get in the way of the mystery.

Rachel's reluctance to share anything with Boone drove me a bit crazy, and I did find it a little unbelievable that they didn't put together who the killer was sooner, but those are minor complaints when compared to the enjoyment I got out of reading the novel. 4-1/2 stars.

Note: This is the third book in Bradley's Memphis Cold Case series, but it completely functions as a stand alone novel. In fact, it's only slightly connected to the first two books, as it takes place completely outside of the cold case division.

There is no Memphis without a little Elvis impersonation in the mix! I have been wanting to read more on Rachel and Boone since the first book in this series. The sparks were flying with them! In this book we get to know their background a little more and what happened between them before the events of the 1st book. Wonderful characters, mystery and ending! I loved it!

Justice Betrayed Isn't enjoyable mystery, romantic suspense-phew That was a typing full. I enjoyed this book. It is portrayed like a real life event. The book was at a steady flowing clip. It keeps you going and guessing who is the killer and who is gunning (yes that is a pun) for Rachel. Will Rachel accept the help of Boone? Even after their romantic past? Will they rekindle? Will they catch who it is before it is too late? Who is it that is killing these Elvis impersonators and now after her? Are you going to find out?

If you like suspense novels, this book is for you! I like the action in the novel but also appreciate how the author slows down the timeline to develop the characters and their relationships. It allows me, as the reader, to better understand the actions and events of the story. The author also gives the reader a peek into the mind of the villain, contributing a suspenseful plot. Additionally, I liked that there was a special needs character in the book. This novel has mystery, unpredictable events, and sprinkles of romance and spirituality. A joy to read and recommended to lovers of contemporary fiction!

Great Christian fiction suspense/romance story! Heavier on the suspense than the romance, which is perfect for me. The story kept me engaged and I didn't figure out 'who done it' until right before it was revealed. While not a big Elvis fan, I did enjoy reading about the Elvis festivities that go on in Memphis.
Rachel is a homicide detective who is approached by an Elvis impersonator, Vic Vegas. He shows her a photograph taken many years earlier of Rachel's mom (who is now deceased) with four Elvis impersonators. One of those murdered soon after the photo was taken. Vic has been doing his own investigating all these years as he believes that murder is tied to the one of Rachel's mother, which was labeled as a 'robbery gone bad.' Then, Vic is murdered. Many knew is his suspicions regarding the previous murders. Had he found proof and the killer felt threatened?
The romance comes in when Boone (also in Homicide and Rachel's superior) is working on the case with Rachel. The two had dated briefly, broken off by Rachel. She felt Boone wanted more and once she transferred to Homicide, they weren't allowed to be in a relationship. She also has baggage (don't we all?) and was afraid of commitment. I won't reveal any more about that.
I had fun trying to figure out the murder and was wrong a couple times.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, Revell through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I've really been enjoying this latest series from Patricia Bradley. I think a lot of it is because the cold cases really intrigue me. I enjoyed that TV show that was on for awhile called Cold Case.

This book was a slightly different spin in that we knew for most of the book what the "bad guy" was thinking because his or her (no spoilers!) point of view was fairly prevalent, but at the same time, there were still quite a few twists and turns. It was an interesting spin.

I won't lie, I did get a little tired of the misleading and even outright dishonesty that sometimes came through in this story. And parts of it were a little too unrealistic - at least in my mind. But overall I really enjoyed watching the police work through the evidence, interview people, and even speculate as to what ha happened.

I of course also enjoyed the romantic interest in this story. But I was also pleased at the same time that it wasn't all perfectly happy and wonderful the entire book.

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher through Net Galley. This is my honest review.

Another great story by Patricia Bradley! Justice Betrayed-someone has gotten away with murder. But not for long, if Rachel Sloan has anything to do with it. She gets transferred to homicide, working for Boone Callahan. At least while she's working for him, she doesn't have to figure out how she feels about him.

From the first page, this story takes off. Rachel walks you through how she solves the case, from questioning witnesses, to talking over scenarios with Boone, to getting kidnapped. This story has action, adventure, suspense and romance.

Rachel discovers as she's investigating that this murder is tied into earlier murders, and even her mother's murder. As she works through her past and her relationship with her father, and even her relationship with Boon and God, Rachel discovers forgiveness and love.

Justice Betrayed is for anyone who enjoys a good murder mystery with heart. I love the cover for this book. I cared for the characters and tried solving the mystery as the story went along. The theme of love and forgiveness was woven throughout the story. Can't wait to read more books by Patricia Bradley.

I received a free copy from Net Galley in the hope that I would mention/review it on my blog. I was not required to give a positive review, only my honest opinion - which I've done. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own and I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

his was a good book. I have to admit that I was confused at the start, but I think that was more my mind trying to jump to conclusions than anything. I was determined the book was going to go one way and it just didn't. Rachel is a homicide detective, a new one to the division at that, and she has just had a strange visitor come to her office. Vic shows up at the very end of the day, dressed as Elvis and dangles a case she wants to avoid, but can't say no to.

When Vic comes up murdered, Rachel feels guilty for not taking it more seriously. While the case he brought to her was a cold case, his murder is not. Boone is Rachel's superior and while they have a history, neither wants it to interfere with the job. The sparks between the two made me smile and how they were just so in sync while she was trying not to be was comical. Her family situation was both entertaining and sad. I loved the way the author brought the story together and I think Rachel's grandmothers were my favorites!

Can't wait to read more from this author! 5/5.

From the beginning of this book you the reader is drawn into a twisted plot of brokenness and deceit.

We know early on who the murderer is, but we also know the brokenness that lead to this way of thinking. It’s quite interesting.

Patricia Bradley knows how to write a good romantic suspense. I have thoroughly enjoyed every book I have read by her.

The romance and the tense was well done and added to the plot of the story.

If you haven’t read anything by Patricia yet I highly recommend you give her a try.

It took me a bit to get into the story, but once I did, I didn't want to put it down.

Quite a few key characters in this book and each play and important roll, so you have to pay attention to all the tidbits of information the author weaves in.

I have to say that until the final forth of the book I still didn't have it figured out, I was wavering between two people.

The tension is tight throughout the whole book. We are either rooting for Rachel to find a clue to her mother's killer or we're praying that Boone doesn't take her off the case before she finds the murderer or before the killer gets her.

If you love a good mystery, then this is the book for you. We are having a rare rainy day here in south Texas. Perfect weather to curl up with a good book. This one will keep you turning the pages all day and into the night.

3.5 stars
The book got off to a slow start and honestly I felt that a lot of Shirley’s parts were hard to compute or didn’t add to the overall story at all. Two people were my main suspects, but if we had known what they told about near the end, I wouldn’t have suspected them. I wouldn’t have suspected them if we knew what Rachel knew about them. In a mystery I like to feel like I’m part of the solving solution, so feeling like the investigators were keeping secrets from me was a bit annoying. It also started off slowly, picking up to be really interesting at around 30%, as that’s where the mystery really began to take shape.

Dealing with expectations like those (that the primary crime will take place early in the story, that I will have a front-row seat to what the investigators are doing to solve it) is why I didn’t rate it five stars, because the characters really were likable and easy to root for. Boone and Rachel have a nice relationship and it’s easy to want them to actually get together.

Creepiness factor: Other than way too many fake Elvises roaming around this tale (sorry, guys...jumpsuits are just creepy), it does involve a serial killer. It’s not too detailed, but it does deal with a person who has no conscience about their crimes.

I love this story. It is very fast paced with action and suspense. A cold case crosses Rachel Sloan's desk in the form of an Elvis impersonator, Vic Vegas, who asks her to look into the murder of a friend of his who was murdered three days after her mother was murdered, sixteen years ago. The more Rachel investigates the more bodies start piling up and the threats come to her doorstep. She is joined in the investigation by her former boyfriend and fellow homicide officer, Lieutenant Boone Callahan who also happens to be her boss on this case.. There is a touch of romance in Rachel and Boone's working together but the main story is about the murder investigation. Patricia definitely keeps you guessing as to who the bad guy is. I think this book is my favorite in the series. I would definitely recommend this book.

Justice Betrayed by Patricia Bradley is a romantic suspense that occurs during Elvis Week in Memphis! I am a huge Elvis fan so I was thrilled to learn the storyline.
The book opens with a chilling scene of a young girl terrified of her father.
Rachel is a homicide detective. An Elvis tribute artist brings her a photo and a suspicion of a murder that happened 17 years ago and just days after her mother was murdered. He thinks they might be related. Before she can learn more and get his case file, he is murdered. Her mother’s murder has never been solved and is part of the reason she is a police officer.

Boone is Rachel’s Lieutenant. They had dated for six months before she broke it off and joined his team. They still have feelings for each other. Boone is swoon worthy. I loved his character. I was cheering for him throughout the book.

The secondary characters of the grandmothers and Erin added a beautiful touch to the story. Everyone wants fun grandmothers like these ladies.
The author did a great job of crafting a chilling villain and a plot that kept you guessing until the end.
Sexual content – kiss
Violence – several deaths, and poison

It's Elvis Week in Rachel Memphis, and homicide Detective Rachel Sloan isn't sure her day could get any stranger when aging Elvis impersonator Vic Vegas asks to see her. But when he produces a photo of her murdered mother with four Elvis impersonators--one of whom had also been murdered soon after the photo was taken--she's forced to reevaluate. Is there some connection between the two unsolved cases? And could the recent break-in at Vic's home be tied to his obsession with finding his friend's killer?

When yet another person in the photo is murdered, Rachel suddenly has her hands full investigating three cases. Lieutenant Boone Callahan offers his help, but their checkered romantic past threatens to get in the way. Can they solve the cases before the murderer makes Rachel victim number four?

Another great book by Patricia Bradley. Rachel would really like to know what happened to her mother many years ago. When Rachel is confronted by "Elvis" who says he has information for her her mothers death she jumps at the chance to investigate. She is reluctant to tell Boone about what she finds because she doesn't what to be taken off the case.

I really enjoyed the book and would recommend to anyone who likes a good mystery.

I was given this book by NetGalley in exchange for honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

One of Patricia Bradley’s best! The twist with the Elvis impersonators — I mean, tribute artists— added a layer of fun to a very intense story.
