This book was ok. It was interesting to see where Theo’s life went and the way that everyone was connected. I just didn’t feel a super close connection with the characters.

Very interesting and intriguing read that kept me captivated. Great storytelling with believable and relatable characters. This book follows the story of Theo and his story unfolds through flashbacks. It begins with an argument, a shot, and Theo running. How the author unfolds the story kept me interested. I traveled to Dublin last year so I was able to picture many of the places mention3d in the book. How Theo was able to come to Dublin after the horrors of Rwanda was captivating and really captured the resiliency of the human spirit.

A book about an interconnected group of people in Dublin. We primarily follow Theo, a man who was brought to Dublin at age 7 after his family was killed in Rwanda., and Deirdre, an abused mom of three. The characters are well developed and I felt myself pulling for them both to find a way to a brighter future. It was slow in parts, but overall, I enjoyed the way the author wove together the stories.

Thank you to Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review "Rain Falls on Everyone
by Clár Ní Chonghaile" Personally, I could not get into the book. The writing was good. The story was getting kind of interesting but after a few chapters, I gave up. I still would recommend it to other people.

There could have been a real risk of this novel treading into generic "young man gets in too deep after casually dealing drugs" territory, but Theo's backstory with his childhood in Rwanda elevates this novel. Obviously I cannot speak as someone experienced with that background, but given the author's experience as a journalist, I believe she took great care to flesh out Theo's childhood traumas in a respectful, accurate manner. Overall it was a moving novel of identity, second chances, and how the past does and doesn't shape the future.
