The stuff of nightmares. You take your best friend͛s four year old daughter, along with your children, to the school fete and she goes missing. The guilt you feel is unbearable as you become the subject of a whispering campaign amongst your friends and the media about your fitness to be a parent. This is what happens to Charlotte when little Alice disappears without a trace.

There are some entertaining twists and turns in this novel. I can't go into them without creating spoilers. In addition there are acute observations regarding the frailty of friendships when a bad thing happens. This is a good read but, for me, there are a few implausible events.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley and publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thank you.

A story which starts out as any mother’s worst nightmare, but quickly spirals into something much darker. A thrilling read that whips along at a great pace, keeping me turning pages well into the night. 5 stars all day long, can’t wait to see what this author does next

I enjoyed this book, the first half in particular is a real page turner. Harriet and Charlotte are both characters we get to know and empathise with. I could identify with many of the scenarios though Harriet did come across as a bit wet sometimes. I would read other books by this author. However, I found the end of the book to be a bit dragged out.

I loved this !! I was instantly grabbed and I don't think the pace let up . Charlotte is looking after her friend Harriet's daughter Alice . They go to the busy village fete along with charlottes kids . She loses sight of Alice after briefly checking her phone , and is devastated when she is nowhere to be found . The story goes back to before the fete and earlier and to the present day where both ladies are being questioned by the police . Something s not right and some secrets are about o come out . I really felt sorry for Charlotte who feels so guilty for taking her eyes off Alice , she is made a scapegoat by the press and a lot of her friends shun her too . A good twist and a satisfying conclusion , 5 stars for me . Thank you !

Now You See Her was a great reading experience. I think the story was well-written and the chapters were compelling. I liked Charlotte a lot as well as Harriet and I wasn't imagining what happened to Alice when she goes missing. That was a great turn of events! It was very clever what how the author made everything develop. I was hooked and wanted to know more but found myself doubting if the plot was truly believable towards the end. I will definitely be reading more books by Perks in the future, though!

There are rather a lot of “gripping psychological thrillers” appearing on NetGalley and in my news feed at the moment, and I need to be careful not to read too many at once. This certainly had me hooked from the start, and I did not predict how it would evolve until about two thirds of the way through.

Set in a Dorset village, this has popular middle-class Yummy-Mummy Charlotte, separated from her husband but happy with her three kids, agreeing to take her best friend’s four year old daughter Alice for the day, so that her mother Harriet can go on a course. Harriet is quiet and shy, doesn’t have any other friends, and has never let Alice out of her care before. Charlotte takes the children to the school fete and lets them go on an inflatable slide. Her children reappear, but Alice does not, vanished without trace, and Charlotte has to face her friend’s anguish and rage, the police investigation, and her own guilt that she let it happen.

This is told from different points of view, at different time points and in both present and past tense, and first and third person narrative, which worked, although had the potential to get confusing. The writing was quite ordinary, which was fine as it did not distract from the plot. I didn’t particularly like either of the women, Charlotte being a bit too self-absorbed and worried about what everyone thought of her, and Harriet was a complete wimp. I was completely engrossed though, wanting to find out what had happened. The ending was okay, I would’ve liked more of a twist. Overall I enjoyed this and would read more from this author.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Now You See Her... And you still want to see her! From the word you I was on tenterhooks wondering when the inevitable would happen and it didn't disappoint. What then unraveled was a story line that had me wanting more and on the edge of my seat continually!! Great book, would love to read more from this author!

This book was amazing! Definitely in my top 10 of all time reads. I was hooked from the start and resented having to put the book down because the storyline and characters were so enthralling. The whole book kept me gripped throughout and the writing style was so easy to read and relate to. Even the changes between time frames was easy to follow and the story just swallows you whole. The characters are very well represented and it is easy to compare them to people in real life, which makes this book such a pleasure to read. My only issue (if there has to be one) is I don't think the very end of the book was necessarily needed. After the adrenaline rush of the beach scene, it seemed a bit limp and lacklustre. Whilst I am grateful that the characters did all have an ending, I am not sure if the end was bit drawn out to conclude the story. This is the first book I have read by this author but it certainly won't be my last, I am definitely a fan

Now You See Her by Heidi Perks is a gripping contemporary psychological thriller that will set hearts racing and pulses rising.
An air of calm and happiness quickly transform into fear, loathing and menace as the reader gets caught up in the action. We question what we see. We try to disentangle the truth from the lies. We try to envisage the ending.
Appearances can be deceptive. Can we believe what our eyes tell us?
The novel is about manipulation and control. How far would someone go to uncover or to hide the truth?
We all need good friends. "Good friends will be there, no matter how much time has passed." How much do our good friends really know us? Are we so 'me' focused that we miss who they are?
The novel has several different time frames and viewpoints, alternating between the first and third person. It is not confusing as each section is headed for person and time frame. The reader quickly gets caught up in the action and mood. We ask questions as snippets are revealed bit by bit.
I really enjoyed Now You See Her. It was a compulsive read that had more than a hint of menace. Psychological torture leaves no visible bruises but deep mental scars.
Don't forget to look behind you. You never know who is there. Read this with the light on and the doors firmly shut.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

Now You See Her by Heidi Perks
I've received an ARC of this book in exchange of my honest review. All opinions are my own.
This domestic thriller starts already with a full suspense right from the first chapter. The book is divided in two POVs Charlotte's and Harriet's.
Charlotte is Harriet's best friend, she’s divorced and has three kids. She's very easy going and a pleaser, the social type of mom who's surrounded by other gossip moms and is more of a stay home mom than a working one even having a job. She loves her life but deep down she wish she would have more courage to stand up and not do everything the other moms do but still she doesn't really change.
Harriet is more shy, introverted and into herself. Both of them bond over their small children and slowly their friendship starts but then you realise it's more one sided than anything. Charlotte confines in Harriet a lot she talks so much of the things that makes her miserable and what she hates in the town that she doesn't really realise or care that Harriet's doesn't really return the private conversations. But they are friends nonetheless and when Harriet's need someone to mind her baby girl she asks Charlotte to do it.
From the beginning you learn that Alice (aka Harriet's daughter) was never ever out of Harriet's sight she never needed or wanted someone to mind her daughter and she's four. From that on you start already with the hypothesis of what must have happened in Harriet's past for her to be so scared of not seeing her child, of who must be the evil still lurking in the shadows.
For Charlotte is a big leap of faith of her friend to leave Alice with her and since they have the school fete to attend she was more than happy to take Alice with her. With her three kids and Alice she goes to the fete while Harriet's goes to a course. Since it's a school event in the park is full of parents with their own children and people walking around in groups. There's a lot of play places for the kids to play and while Charlotte is distracted Alice is abducted.
The whole story starts getting a fast pace after that divided between Before and Now you see both of the women points of view and their feelings. The best friend who is getting the blame and feeling guilty for losing a child it's not even hers and Harriet's grief for losing her baby girl.
Slowly the story starts getting shape and when you thought it would be a serial killer kind of book starts shaping into one of the good domestic thrillers of 2018.
The author expertise in slowly easing into the story is catching. You are reading and wondering if your theory is right and then gasping with new information and pieces of the mystery being solved piece by piece. Divided between Charlotte and Harriet's lives and wondering if any of them had something to do with the abduction.
The suspense if thrilling and lot of times I was left breathless and punching my pillows in excitement or nervousness always glued to my kindle until I finished still in shock with the final events of the whole thing.
Charlotte goes over and over throughout the faithful day where everything went to hell but can't remember anything out of the ordinary while her social life goes crumbling down. All of her friends now turned their back on her saying how reckless she was in losing a child it wasn't even hers and the media won't leave her alone either. I found it very interesting the author going through that path and showing that nobody's perfect. How many times did you take your child to a playground or a park with other children so you could seat and read a magazine or scroll down through your phone apps? So many times and everyone does it but Charlotte was judged by it from everyone that does the same. I felt so bad for her and how she was feeling so guilty for something she didn't have control over it.
Meanwhile Harriet and her husband are suffering without knowing anything about Alice's whereabouts and detectives start to get into the cracks of their marriage. What you thought before was a perfect marriage starts to creep it in some dubious stories and alibis from where they were. The whole mystery starts tightening before you start solving the whole story.
I have to say a lot of things that happened I didn't saw it coming until it was right before my eyes, you get so caught up reading it and getting into the characters lives that you don't see it from the outside picture. I have been pretty lucky on stumbling down to some awesome thrillers this 2018 and this book is definitely on the list. I can't wait until everyone gets their hands on this book for sure.
Although I expected a better ending I think it was fit for the story the closure or lack of it leaves your imagination into overdrive of what could have happened or what could happen in the future. I really recommend this book.
Both main character has good personalities that you can rely to it and that doesn't make you that much annoyed when they do stuff that annoys you after all it's what most of us would do. I really like when you see the ordinary life turn into a completely whirlwind of suspense and action and mystery being solved.
I do think that by the middle of the book you have some big plots figured it out but the author does an amazing job of still capturing your attention in keeping reading the book. I loved the author writing style, it was fluid and cohesive and very captivating. I will for sure be searching for more books of her.

Amazing book, I just couldn't put it down. Totally different to what I was expecting at the start. Very credible and beautifully developed. I can't recommend it enough, it would make a great film.

Heidi Perks has just gone to my current favourite author, this book was intense and I couldn't put it down read it from start to finish in one night.
The story revolves around two women and their families the first is Charlotte in her nice house in a nice place in town, lovely gardens perfect families
Harriet lives in a dark small house on wrong side of town
Both these mums meet up and chat on park bench whilst their children play, Harriet has one little girl Alice who she is constantly with she doesn't work as she looks after Alice and her husband Brian
Charlotte is a single parent with Jack and Molly ,she is separated from their dad
All is fine until Harriet asks Charlotte to look after Alice at the school fete the kids are playing fine until they come of a bouncy ride without Alice.
And then the story takes lots of twists and turns secrets and lies are uncovered but I never expected the outcome that the author wrote
Amazing book

If I could have given this book more than 5 stars then I would have done!!! This book was beyond amazing and I read it in the one sitting. The story was cleverly drip-fed by the author fleeting between the past and the present and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough!!!

I am not going to say too much about the story itself as I don’t want to run the risk of inadvertently revealing any spoilers. So here goes - Harriet asks her friend Charlotte to look after her daughter, Alice, for the day while she goes to a course. It’s a lovely day and Charlotte takes Alice and her own three children along to the school fete. Whilst there she becomes distracted with her phone and takes her eyes off the children for mere minutes. However when she looks up, Alice is nowhere to be seen and panic sets in. What follows is a fantastic storyline with which you will not be disappointed - told from both Harriet and Charlotte’s viewpoint there is a race against time to find out what happened to Alice.

I can’t wait to read more from this author.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Whizzed through this one, a totally addictive read.

We have the story of Harriet, who never lets her daughter Alice out of her sight, has never let Alice be minded by anyone, this despite Alice reaching 4 years of age. For the first time ever, due to needing to attend a bookkeeping course in an attempt to find ways to earn extra money when Alice eventually goes to school, Harriet leave Alice with her best - and only - friend, Charlotte.

Charlotte takes her three children and Alice to a school fete. Taking her eyes off the kids for a moment, Alice disappears.

The story takes a predictable course from here, as the search for Alice proceeds. Charlotte is left to deal with the guilt of losing Alice, and the blame from many, particularly Harriet's husband Brian.

The story intensifies and gathers pace, and takes the reader in a surprising direction. No spoilers, but the clever plot is one I thoroughly enjoyed. The story of obsession, and the damage it can cause.

Highly recommended.

Love a good psychological thriller and was intringued what the story entailed after reading the blurb. I have to admit at times i was frustrated bythe female main character Harriet. Without telling readers to much I realise this was part of her character which helped the story unfold and explain what happpened and why. This is not a normal run of the mill missing child book as there seems to be a lot of these lately. Now you see her tells the story from a totally different angle. I wasnt prepared for the chilling and sometimes sad story and it had me gripped to the very end.
