This new adult romance revolves around the office romance of Harry and Alice. This couple is very awkward to say the least but it works for the characters. At times, I did get frustrated with the typical new adult miscommunication premise, but it was resolved nicely in the end. I adored Harry as a character. I loved the cover art as well.

Alice has had a thing for a boss for a while now, but she's never acted on it. However, with her leaving the company soon, she's determined to finally go after what she wants. Yet, just when things are starting to heat up and change between them, she finds Harry allowing old wounds to interfere in their relationship. Will Alice be able to convince him that he's the one she wants, or will they both walk away from their shot at happy ever after?

Stories encompassing a heroine that feels like Cinderella and a hero that gives her a magical night I've found are always good reads, and Ms. Phillips really surprised me with this story. Certainly, it was very engaging, fun, and I loved this couple together. The way this story started sets the fast-pace of this story, as the heroine has a plan for her last weeks of work before she leaves, and finding out more about the plan and whether the heroine would go through with it had me reading this story quickly since I was determined to discover what she would do. Would Alice chicken out on her plan?

Both the main characters were compelling and I loved these two together, as they explore the wonderful chemistry between them and see whether they can make their relationship work. Will Alice and Harry continue their relationship once she leaves? However, in saying that, both have issues that make them wary of relationships since Harry has always felt like second best to his twin brother and I could understand why he feels threatened because of what his last girlfriend did. While Alice, she's not willing to give up her dreams for anyone. Not after how things turned out for her mother and what her mother sacrificed for her father.

Furthermore, the heroine was resilient, courageous and I liked how she interacted not only with Harry but with the secondary characters. They all seem to love her, except one woman that feels threatened by her friendship with the two men she works for and I liked what Harry did to make sure that woman knew how important Alice was to them personally and to their business. Alice is the glue that keeps everything going. I also liked how Alice handled herself when it came to interacting in Harry's world, especially the night they go on their first date. How was she not more jealous? While the hero, he's a good guy that deserves happiness and I'm glad that he finally went for it with Alice because they're so good together. I also liked the close relationship the hero had with his sister and that she wasn't afraid to say whatever was on her mind, especially when it came to his relationship with Alice. Really, how could he be so clueless at times and yet so brilliant at others?

Overall, Ms. Phillips has delivered a really good read in this book where I absolutely loved this couple together since they have plenty of chemistry and the ending had me loving Harry's determination to win back Alice. How could he have not trusted her? She's nothing like his ex. I would recommend Cinderella and the Geek by Christina Phillips, if you enjoy the friends to lovers trope, boss-employee romances, Cinderella-type stories, or books by authors Cindi Madsen, Robin Bielman, Magan Vernon and Avery Flynn.

This book was cute! I loved the whole video game company angle! It made the geek part of the book more believable and funny. The majority of the characters that work at the company are shut ins that have a hard time communicating and Harry is no exception. He was an interesting character in that he understood more about creating games than women and how to be social. He ends up putting his foot in his mouth various times over the course of the book. He was still lovable though. I enjoyed how clueless he was although I wish that he would gave been more aware of Alice's feelings. I feel like Alice was a bit clueless too but she had no experience with the opposite sex whatsoever so it was understandable. Their relationship had an interesting dynamic that was fun to read about! I enjoyed this quick fun romantic comedy

This novel can be read in a single sitting. It isn't like the cliché romance that we read. The setting is different and so is the proposal towards the climax. I was blown away by the way Harry chose to propose Alice. Definitely read it if you are looking for young and refreshing romance.

Alice has worked hard in school her whole life and is finally ready for college. She’s been working for some video games developers while waiting for school to start. She’s had a kind of crush on co-founder Harry for awhile now, but hasn’t ever acted on it. She’s not that kind of girl, after having watched what her father had put her mother through. Alice’s bff has been pushing Alice to get out and date, but Alice seems shy and a little nerdy.
Harry, hasn’t really looked at Alice either. He actually doesn’t really look at anyone. He’s a geek and he knows it and owns it. His twin brother is a famous footballer (soccer to us Americans) and keeps trying to get Harry out with him, but he refuses. Not interested in that scene. Recently though, he’s kind of noticed Alice, but doesn’t want to ask.
Now Harry needs a date to a formal event and asks Alice to be his escort. When their kiss in front of the podium goes viral, they decide to have some “fake dates” to help the gaming company the American backing they need to break into the American gaming scene (the head of the company coming for a visit absolutely loved the video).
These characters were so cute in their geekiness!! The reason for only 4 stars is that I couldn’t understand why they didn’t talk to each other. With the two of them not talking to each other, they created (in my opinion) awkward and unnecessary feelings and scenes. Other than that, it’s a well written, charming book.

I absolutely loved everything about this story. There is something refreshing about reading a story about a geek who is completely out of touch and doesnt realise just how attractive he is. I picked this book up in the morning and had it finished by lunchtime. I loved Harry an everything about him. He is the perfect mix of hot and sweet. Alice was perfect for him. She wasnt some hot super model or some fame chaser. Both Harry and Alice both have issues and it was great too see how they over came them to get what they needed... each other.

This reads like an in-between a YA and an NA story. And I really liked how awkwardly adorable Harry was. He's the one that carried this book for me. Go hot nerds!

But while I enjoyed the story, around the 65% mark, I found myself getting annoyed with both MC's because so many of their issues could've been avoided if they just had a proper chat. The 2 of them spent a lot of time assuming certain things. And you know what happens when people make assumptions, right? Most of the time, they're wrong about said assumptions. Fill in the blanks and you can guess what happens to our happy couple.

Nevertheless, all's well that ends well. We even get a very cute epilogue. This was a solid 3.5 stars for me.

I am not really one to leave negative feed back on a book. Writing is hard and I could not do it. That being said, I was not a big fan of this book. I could not relate to the characters. A bit awkward for me.

Harry and his partner run a successful gaming site. Their assistant is leaving them for higher education. How will they survive without her?

Alice has definitely found herself falling down the rabbit hole. She has a thing for her boss, but rather than ruin what they have, she decides to go to school without telling him. Then one day - he invites her to a ball.....

This is a rather sweet story which has rich characters I hope to see again. Compelling from page one, I eagerly turned the pages. These characters were meant to be together. As things heat up, the pace picks up also. I hope to see these MC's again in future installments in the British Bad Boys series.

This one started off so well, until my eye started twitching (which it is still doing). In all fairness, I don't think the eye-twitching is in any way related to Cinderella and the Geek, but the book was responsible for a ridiculous amount of eye-rolling. Alice was so insecure, and I absolutely hated how many times she called herself "ordinary," because she didn't look like a model or have perfect hair every day. There is nothing wrong with wearing your hair in a ponytail if it's what you want to do.

"He’s the most gorgeous guy ever, and me, well, I’m so ordinary it’s not funny."

Like I said, it started off well. I enjoyed the information about Blitz and The Plains of Exitium. I love RPGs and wish they had gone into a little more detail. Obviously that wasn't the focus of the book, but it would have been a bonus. Watching Alice and Harry come together (after working closely for nearly a year) was fun at first, but their insecurities and cluelessness really started to grate on my nerves. It felt like they were purposefully misreading things just to be difficult. I really wish they had just spoken their thoughts out loud, and maybe confronted some of their ever-present concerns, but no. Things have to completely fall apart before anything can be done about it.

I did like certain aspects of the book. For example, the first time they're intimate with each other is from Harry's perspective. Normally these things are told from a female's view, and it was nice to see how a guy would react in that situation. Those scenes were brief and scarcely detailed compared to other books I've read, but they were sweet and endearing.

Alice and Harry were choking on unspoken thoughts and feelings, and I was continuously trying to give them a mental Heimlich maneuver. I finished the entire book, but I lost hope about halfway through. The story was interesting enough to make me want to see how everything played out, but even that was anticlimactic.

Harry and Alice are so adorable. Alice is the girl who has put her idea of a boyfriend off until after college. She wants to be someone her mom is proud of. Only this sweet, efficient smart as a whip girl has a crush on her boss. A boss she intends to have a before college fling with.

Harry is the geek whose heart was crushed long ago so he has shut that part of his life down. He is focused on his role play game and making his company successful. He is now noticing Alice as more than a friend but is afraid to ruin a good thing. He is also fearful that she will like his brother over him in the end like everyone does.

We have two smart sweet people who are crushing on one another but afraid to act on it. ONly suddenly they are in a situation where there attraction takes over and they act on it. They are in a Cinderella moment for Alice and Harry wants to give her the stars and moon. Things are going so wonderfully. We get such sweet interactions and some misunderstandings but you can see the attraction and how much that they care for each other. Only their lives interrupt their romance.

We have her mom, their jobs and misunderstandings come into play. they act rashly and when they step back and ee the big picture they realize that they misunderstood the other. We get the swoony moments with Harry at the end that just warm the heart.

The story is sweet and cute. We have two people scared to show their feelings for each other unexpectedly take a chance and fall in love. We have the Cinderella moment at the awards that turns into more but we also get the realness of what misunderstanding and past hurt can do to a relationship. You fall in love with each character and Harry and Alice as they explore their feelings and fall in love while finding their way to be strong, supportive people for the other. Just a great feel good romance.

I received a copy of CINDERELLA AND THE GEEK on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the publisher and author.

Five stars and here's why:

First, Christina Phillips’ title rocks. I love a smexy “falling for the boss” book! Ms. Phillips wrote a funny, LOL love story with just the right amount of sexy banter to keep those pages turning! **fanning myself** If you love hella-hot smart guys, savvy girls, and a sexy romance, then this book is for you! Highly recommend!

This is a really delightful contemporary romance, which takes the reader on a journey through the whole gamut of emotions! Having your dream lover as your boss - and him never looking at you in that way has proved too much for this young lady. She's about to leave her job, her boss and her romantic dreams behind her and go off to university......should she risk their friendship and brilliant working relationship to see if he can look at her in a different way? Then comes the opportunity to do just that - he needs a date to go to an awards ceremony. Can their fate date lead to more?

There are laugh out loud incidents, plenty of drama and turmoil in this well crafted story. It is a story where her mother's experiences have influenced her reactions and his first love's cutting behaviour and his secret both have affected him and his reactions. Can they overcome these to give them, the beauty and the geek, a chance for love and romance to blossom between them? I thoroughly enjoyed this and have no hesitation in highly recommending it!

I requested and received a copy of this novel. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.

Do you like quirky romances with characters who are inherently charming in their awkwardness? Phillips' latest romance is here to fulfill your need. Alice has spent months dreamily eyeing her boss and gamer-guru Harry. She's off to college in a mere few weeks and has decided it's now or never. She's going to take the plunge and confess her feelings for Harry in the hopes for one night of passion to stay in her memories forever. But a glamorous night out as a favor to Harry throws her plans into a tailspin as she has to navigate the line between whats right and wrong. Pretending to be his girlfriend has its perks but she needs to know what is real and what could be a future for the two of them.

Harry knows his feelings for Alice are wrong; she's his employee. But the reality of her leaving in a few weeks stirs a longing in him he can't fight much longer. As the two spend a night out together and rumors stir of their relationship, Harry has to decide whats and act, and what signs Alice could really be sending. A geeky developer can have a hard time between reality and make believe. But as Alice and Harry spend more time together, the more they realize how in sync they truly are. Separate they are powerful and smart as can be; but together these two are a geeky force of adorable to be reckoned with.

While this classifies as a traditional romance, it definitely has a more new adult feel. Alice is preparing for college while Harry is in his early 20s. Despite this, there is some maturity to both of them that at times can be a bit confusing. But their age shows in their naivety and their awkwardness in tense situations, even though it ends up making the two of them more endearing. The story is a little slow and there's a lot that could've been solved if they would've just been hones from the start. Not a bad read, but I unfortunately couldn't connect with the story too much because of the bounce back between how the characters presented themselves. Its sweet, its simple, and for those looking for a fun break between heartbreakers, this is a go to palate read.

3⭐️⭐️⭐️

While I was excited by the premise of this book I was disappointed with it in the end. I loved the the relationship between Harry and Alice, and their interactions with one another. I just had a hard time getting into the flow of the book.

I wanted to like this book, but I just couldn’t keep slogging through it. Over a third of the way in and it still felt like nothing was happening. If Alice and Harry had actually talked instead of constantly making assumptions (something that drives me nuts), this would have been a quick and ok short story. But between the slow pace, bland characters, and issues of believability, Cinderella and the Geek felt like a chore to read and I had to throw in the towel after five days of trying.

Harry & Alice are two young adults who awkwardly confront their feelings for each other amidst the fear of rejection for different reasons. Miscommunication and insecurity seek to interfere in their romance, stalling it before it truly begins.

This is a cute, fast-paced office romance story chronicling the growing pains of young love.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.

It's a sweet romance novel. Story is interesting enough and characters are great. I loved both Harry and Alice. Geeks are my favourite heroes to tell you the truth, so I enjoyed reading about a love between "Beauty and the Geek." It's a must read if you're looking for a lighthearted HEA kind of story. I'm sure this one won't disappoint you.

Harry works a lot, basically his company is his home. Alice works with him so obviously she is off-limits. He can't have romantic thoughts for her. What if that ruins their working relation? But lately it has been becoming more and more difficult for him not to think of her as a woman rather than just a co-worker...

Alice has admired Harry from a far since as long as she has known him. He is her friend and that friendship matter to her so there is no way she will ever date him. What if it didn't work out between them and their friendship suffered? However, now she is leaving the city. She probably won't see him again. So why not have an affair to remember... maybe even a one nightstand? It might be exactly what she needs. She doesn't have big romantic dreams to begin with, but Harry is important to her and she wants him like crazy...

Fortunately for both of them, they soon get a chance to act upon their mutual attraction. But will it lead to a disaster or something beautiful is yet to be determined.

I loved this twist on time old romance theme and would definitely recommend it to other romance lovers.
