Brilliant book - so well crafted, you absolutely know the twist coming, you can feel it - and then you're wrong! And it all falls into place. Such a lovely read, I couldn't put it down.

We meet a recently separated, thirty-something woman who finds love the old fashioned way, ironically in her childhood home. What are the odds?! They spend a perfect week together and the feelings are mutual - they are crazy about each other. Questions, fears and doubt explodes when he doesn't call when he promises. She's crazy in love with him and she's definitely sure it was reciprocated, so why doesn't he call. In a state of frenzy until the point of breaking we find out the truth why, maybe just maybe, they can't be together. 



This was an excellent read by Rosie Walsh, the story was written fluidly and complex. It was well written - many times I could determine what would happen next but I was wrong in many cases! The plot twists, cliff hangers were fantastic! I highly praise Rosie Walsh and cannot wait to read other titles.

This was an iffy one. Could not like Sarah or Eddie and the plot was somewhat of a stretch. Sort of an romantic mystery tale.

I feel like I have been waiting forever for the release of The Man Who Didn’t Call by Rosie Walsh, I loved the authors books written under Lucy Robinson so I was looking forward to reading her new release. HOWEVER! Now I have finished the book I have spent the best part of a week trying to review this book because it is truly an amazing read but I think what made it so great was knowing absolutely nothing about it, there were no reviews circulating no comments and I didn’t even read the synopsis! So I had no idea what lay ahead and I think this was why the book blew me away and with this in mind I am so conscious not to give anything away so this may be a very short review ( I am tempted to leave it at BUY IT!)
The storyline begins as one I am sure a lot of us can relate to, after Sarah and Eddie randomly meet over a sheep one day they have the best few days together. Eddie is due to fly on holiday and the pair are already making pans for his return and as he leaves he promises to call Sarah……………

Sarah thinks of every possible reason as to why he hasn’t called and she pushes the boundaries of sanity trying to find him.

The storyline is fast paced and the author is very clever with her writing style as you get a little too comfortable with the flow of the storyline so you don’t expect certain things to then be sprung on you! It is one of those reads that you find predictable but are looking forward to seeing the events along the way to the conclusion you have deemed to happen only to then have everything thrown back in your face and have you checking to see if someone has just stolen a few pages out of the book!
Sarah is such a lovely character who I was rooting for from the first meeting, I could easily sympathise with her and could relate to the mad thoughts that go through your mind as to the reason for the no call, these things start of so small and innocent to then blow up to the extreme which brought a little humour to the storyline.
This book will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions from hope and laughter to heartbreak and shock. At no point will you be able to put this book down so put a day aside as you will need to finish it in one greedy swoop!
This is such a great read that will leave a mark on you, I can not name another author who manages to shock me as much as Rosie Walsh does. This book will be big news and it deserves every mention it gets I just can not wait for another book by Rosie Walsh I just hope she doesn’t keep us waiting too long!

It's been a few days since I finished The Man Who Didn't Call and I am still thinking about it. In fact, I haven't been able to start a new book yet. This is how invested I became in this stunning story.

But let's start at the beginning, the story focuses on Sarah and Eddie. They have just spent a week together and have completely fallen in love with each other, they know there is something really special between them. But Eddie doesn't call. He doesn't respond to any messages, he is not online, he has disappeared. Sarah doesn't understand, she needs to know what happened to him. From here, we follow Sarah in this slightly crazy journey of trying to find out what happened.

Many times I thought I could guess how the story was going to pan out, and every single time I was wrong. I was shocked, surprised but above all, intrigued. I wanted to know what had happened and two nights in a row I went to sleep way too late. Sarah's story completely captured me and the more I knew about her, the more I rooted for her.

The cast of secondary characters was also spot on. Sarah's friends, both in the UK and US, were such interesting, supporting and complex characters on their own. They had their problems but were always there, ready to listen to Sarah and anchor her while she was losing her way. I also found fascinating Sarah's job and how she and her ex-husband had founded their charity.

Both Sarah's and Eddie's families played key roles in this story and added and even deeper dimension to it. Their struggles, their fears and their challenges felt completely real. I think Rosie Walsh painted a very clear picture of what it means to care for a loved one who is not well, how grief can affect your life and especially, what you are ready to go through for love.

A truly stunning story that I am planning to re-read very soon. It broke my heart but it also healed it. This story is going to be huge, and trust me, you don't want to miss it.

I hesitate to call this book a romance though at its core, that's what it is. It is more than what the image of the word 'romance' could conjure up. Apart from the people and the mental arguments involved, the revelations caught me completely unawares, a feeling I enjoyed. 

I debated between the full five star rating and the lower rung of the four stars (since both on NetGalley where I got access to this book, and Goodreads does not provide the luxury of the decimal). I realised that giving it anything less than the five star rating would be doing it a disservice for the entertainment and a great couple of reading hours this book gave me.It was a brilliantly executed book, the likes of which I have rarely come across since the story in itself is not unique, the handling of such a storyline was. Sarah is fretting over the fact that she has not received a call back from Eddie whom she felt she formed a lifelong bond thought they only spent a week together. This fretting goes beyond just the usual chicklit level thinking, the doubts as to why such a situation happened causes her to unravel. Parallelly we are given snippets into something that has deeper roots than we are aware. It is not a thriller because her unravelling is not the focus, the bonds of people which prevents complete catastrophe and the resilience of the human spirit is what the book is all about. I did shed a few tears during some parts and that is something I have not done for the past couple of books.

Revealing any more of the tale would have you second guess each chapter's meaning and may ruin the experience. If you want to read the book after reading this review, I would recommend completely blocking out what I said, and the blurb and jump blindly in!

Sarah Mackey meets Eddie David by chance, they bond over a sheep and spend a glorious week together hidden away in a barn in the woods. Has something happened or was he just not that interested?

At first I found it hard to warm to Sarah and had a lack of respect for her, pining after a man who won't return her calls, complaining to her friends about a broken heart, obsessively stalking his Facebook (not that I haven't been there!). But as the plot develops we learn that Sarah has some secrets in her past and is still struggling with the loss of her sister 19 years ago. There turned out to be a lot more depth to her and the story than I originally thought.

This story raises questions of how much love can overcome and should we let something in the past, no matter how huge it was, define the rest of our lives or can we learn to forgive, forget and move on.

Just over halfway through there is a twist that honestly I did not see coming. I couldn't put this book down after that. There are some heart stopping dramatic moments something I was pleasantly surprised about, this certainly isn't a standard "boy meets girl" love story. Rosie has a knack of dropping small, vague hints that make you feel like you know what's going on but then an unexpected twist comes and hits you in the face.

I'm not sure how I felt about the ending. I don't want to give too much away and part of me loves how it ended. The other part of me felt a little let down by the main characters, I think there could have been more realistic ways to end this book.

I wasn't expecting how this book would turn out or the little twists throughout. At points you just want Sarah to forget Eddie and move on but secretly you want to find out what happened to Eddie and why he never called. I loved the different styles of writing as well, from the Facebook messages to the letters to the different perspectives of the main characters

Before I started reading this book, I expected it to be a rom-com with a sickly sweet ending but I was in for a surprise.
Sarah and Eddie meet and fall in love within seven days but then Eddie disappears completely. Sarah struggles to understand what has happened but eventually pieces together the mystery.

This story gripped me and it was hard to put down. It deals not only with love, but guilt, loss and forgiveness. I would definitely recommend it and I look forward to reading Rosie Walsh's future works.

When Sarah and Eddie meet and spend six blissful days together they fall deeply in love. Eddie is leaving on a long booked holiday and Sarah waits patiently to hear from him! But all she hears is silence. With her friends telling her to forget him she finds she can’t believing there must be a reason for his silence.

What unfolds is a love story with a difference. Should they give up on love? Are long buried secrets too damaging to long term happiness? Can they navigate their own personal grief? Is forgiveness possible? Can love overcome all?

I read this book at times with a tear in my eye and other times with a warm feeling .It spoke to me personally as I struggle with issues in my own life and I felt at times very connected to the characters and their personal struggles.

This was a 5 star read for me , I couldn’t recommend it enough. Brilliant writing by Rosie Walsh.

This book had loads of twistd and turns and kept the reader guessing to the surprising end, i hope there is a follow up.

A beautifully told love story with a twist. Excellently portrayed characters. I loved the way the story was told from the male perspective too. That gave it a stronger impact and more meaning. Had no idea how the story would turn out, but loved reading it to find out.

Wonderful! I don't say this lightly, I have been absolutely gripped and so involved that I could hardly bear to read it at times while we were led up the garden path and back again as the twists and turns wrong-footed us. From very early on I felt as though I was in competent hands, that a good story would be told and I wasn't wrong - its a long time since I have been so immersed in a book. I felt euphoric, in despair, sad, bewildered, every shade of emotion in turn. Its a romance with many twists but most of all a great story.

I loved this book - the main characters, Sarah and Eddie are really well written, and their brief meeting which leads to a week’s romance was very believable. I liked the twists and turns as Sarah tries to work out why Eddie doesn’t call her and seems to disappear (though I did winder why it didn’t occur to her to just turn up at his house).

The flashbacks are very clever, and the ‘aha’ moment when it came was a complete surprise. This book will have you sighing one moment, and crying the next.

I enjoyed this book. Sarah and Eddie spend a wonderful week together, each being certain that they have fallen in love. But then Eddie doesn't call. Sarah is convinced that something awful must have happened to him. Or could it be connected to the horrific event in Sarah's past, when a young girl was killed? This is a good story - thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy.

A thoroughly modern romance - or perhaps I should say more of a psychological suspense. Rosie Walsh used to write as Lucy Robinson and so I knew I was in goods hands. Perfectly structured and paced. Although the plot of the story does require a certain level of "instalove", I felt the connection between Sarah and Eddie was always sweet and sincere. Compulsively readable, with a couple of thoroughly satisfying "!!" moments. This is definitely going to be one of the biggest books of summer 2018.

This is a real page turner as you keep thinking you know why he didn't call but then the story unfolds and the reason is wrong. Really enjoyed it and kept you guessing.

When Sarah Mackey meets Eddie David - in a country lane, in conversation with an escaped sheep - it’s an instant coup de foudre for both parties. (That’s Eddie and Sarah, not Eddie and the sheep.) They spend a glorious week together before Eddie has to leave for a holiday, and plan to meet again on his return. But from that point on, it’s radio silence from Eddie, much to Sarah’s bewilderment.

Of course, Sarah’s far from the first woman to embark on a potential relationship only to find the other party launching a stunning impression of the invisible man. (It’s called “ghosting”, I believe. In fact the US edition of the book is called Ghosted, which I think I rather prefer as a title.)

Eddie remarks early on that Sarah is the most confident woman he knows, and I found this rather refreshing, as she doesn’t deny her confidence, even while acknowledging she wasn’t always that way and once had to “nail on confidence like a shop sign”.

Sarah doesn’t seem at all the sort of woman to be thrown into a tailspin by a man’s failure to call, so it feels all the more powerful when she totally is. The first half of the book follows Sarah dealing with Eddie’s desertion and trying, against her own better judgment and the advice of her friends - to track him down via social media and six-a-side football team (a real team, by the way!) because she is unable to believe he would simply give up on what they had. There has to be a reason, and there is - but it’s probably not what you think.

The second part of the story takes a different turn as all is revealed, and becomes ultimately a very moving and emotional read. Yes, there were tears at the end.

The Man Who Didn’t Call is a brilliant read about loss, forgiveness and love, with very engaging characters and a genuinely heartbreaking story at its core. I loved it.

Astonishing Story

The author for this book, Rosie Walsh, is a brilliant creative genius. Read it, to believe it. I went into this book thinking it'll be a romantic comedy type book, but something leaning on the more upsetting side... I was wrong, this wasn't that. It was far better. The kind of book you look to read but frustratingly manages to elude you in your search... A gem! Just don't let the cover deceive you!

Sarah is visiting her family home, from LA to England. She hates the house and has always wanted to keep her distance from the past. So, when she meanders into a little field and witnesses a man speaking to a sheep, she has the most perfectly entertaining of distractions. But somehow, for reasons unknown, they seem connected. They feel like they have a lifetime of shared memories between them. Definitely crazy. More so for two very sensible personalities but of course, that always make things more interesting!

Eddie leaves for a pre-planned holiday to Spain, with a promise of a reunion and an unexpected declaration of his love for Sarah. Except, days quickly pass and it quickly appears as if Eddie has been wiped off the surface of the earth. That, and Sarah feels she's going crazy! Can a man be so perfect or does he have a secret?

You wouldn't expect the curveballs Walsh throws your way with this novel. It definitely was the perfect combination of a thriller and a romance. You can't go wrong with this one, it has something for everyone. Fans of Cecelia Ahern will enjoy.
