I love a world where crossovers happen and Lexi Blake now has a delicious crossover happening between her Masters and Mercs, Lawless, and now Courting Justice series. This makes me just as happy as when I watch all my Chicago shows (Fire, Med, Justice-although it was cancelled let's not discuss about how disappointed I was). Anyway, Order of Protection brings all of Lexi's worlds together to help bring security, order, and lawfulness into these characters lives to help right their wrongs as only Lexi's strong characters can do.

Henry Garrison is known as The Monster of Manhattan. A lawyer known for getting horrible people off over and over again, his success in the courtroom is unparalleled only to the demise of his career. A nasty divorce to a potential oscar winning actress threw him in the entertainment spotlight and unfortunately also threw him in a cycle of drinking. Now on the road to recovery, dragging his career, his life, and his liver out of the gutter he's trying to start over. What he needs are some clients. What he needs is some good fortune. He doesn't exactly get what he wished for, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Taylor Winston-Hughes or Win as she prefers to be called by those who really know her was raised by her uncle when her parents died in an accident. This isn't what makes Win unique, what makes Taylor Winston-Hughes unique is the fact that she's a billionaire heiress. On top of being an heiress Win foolishly was also on a reality TV show with some of her friends which lead to Win ending up in rehab, not for drugs or alcohol, but for an eating disorder. Finally on the mend Win has left the show, is looking towards the future, and has taken her life back from the very brink of death. She has everything to live for, so who could possibly be out to kill her?

Henry and Win desperately need each other, they are broken and help heal one another, but when things fall apart, when everything goes wrong, will they still be each others rock or will they go back to their old vices? Time is running short and they need to work together to find some answers before the killer strikes again.

Order of Protection is filled with twists and turns that will keep you intrigued from beginning to end. I'm excited to see where this series continues to grow and for more crossover happiness.

The first time i read a novel by Lexi Blake, it was through her collaboration with Shayla Black and that dates back to almost 3 years ago. Since then, i've moved on to her Masters & Mercenaries series and fell in love with her individual novels - it was my first taste of what she can deliver about not only a lifestyle that many still don't understand, but it also gave me a very good idea of how she pens a story to make you sit at the edge of your seat and pray that you won't be throwing your book or kindle across the room when everything either goes one way when you expected it to go another or when it ends with an ending that makes you have to wait for the next instalment for more information about the characters you fell in love with.

Order of Protection was interesting. It's a new series by this author and yet had so many previous characters that you met in other books by this author. Longer than i would have expected (it's no secret that more often than not, i'll pick up a book that has roughly 200 pages, and this was clocking at 340 pages or so), there was no dull moment in this book. From the very beginning where we met Henry Garrison and heard his story and then meeting Win and the reasons on why she hid her true identity were captivating.

So many elements that made me think of Law & Order, Order of Protection was something else. Where Master & Mercenaries showed you the law working to protect, this new series gives you a bird's eye view of the law portion and proving without a shadow of doubt that a charged party of a heinous crime is innocent when the evidence says otherwise.

I liked this introduction to this series and i can't wait to see where Lexi Blake will be taking the next books and what journey readers will be taken on.

5 Star Review of Order Of Protection (Courting Justice #1) by Lexi Blake
When I heard that there was a new Lexi Blake series, I jumped at the chance to dive in. Having read many of her previous books, I was excited to see what she had in store for us in Order Of Protection.
In my humble opinion nobody does sexy suspense books like Lexi Blake. If you like sexy alpha males, some really hot scenes and characters that will melt your heart, then look no further.
One of the things that I love about Lexi Blake is that her characters are never one dimensional, there are always so many layers and Henry and Win were no exception.
Henry Garrison is a lawyer trying to get his life back under control, a recovering alcoholic, whose divorce left his life and career in tatters. Win Hughes is the mysterious woman he meets while packing up his family home. They connected for a time, then like ships in the night they parted ways. However fate has more in store for Henry and WIn than either of them could expect.
Life has not been kind to Win, however she has gotten back on track and is determined to make the most out of life.
When Win is charged with the murder of her best friend, she has no hesitation in seeking out Henry to represent her. However this Henry is not the friendly man she hooked up with on the island, he is furious that she “lied” by omission and did not tell him who she really is. To be honest when they meet again Henry acted like a jerk, in fact I wanted to smack him across the head and tell him to grow up.
It was good to see some familiar faces make an appearance and the suspense and twists and turns had me continuously guessing
Will Henry and Win be able to find out who the killer is and thereby prove Win’s innocence or will the killer strike again?.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley.

Action-packed romantic suspense!

This was my first dive into the worlds of Lexi Blake but it will definitely not be my last. I love the way she creates characters and draws you right into their stories. Win and Henry were so much fun to watch. Their meeting was so great and their chemistry shows right off the bat. They both have pasts and something major tries to threaten any future they might have. Watching them navigate secrets, truths, scandals, and mystery, was so addictive!

I love a good romantic suspense story and this one was so much fun! There were some aspects that I guesses and knew were coming but others took me by surprise.

I really enjoyed the This was a great first installment of her new Courting Justice series and I can’t wait to see how it continues with some of the secondary characters from this story. David, an ex-NFL star now lawyer, will have his book next and I can’t wait to see what his story has in store. The character I’m most excited about is Noah Lawless, a brother of the Lawless siblings. They have their own series and while I wait for the next installment of this series, I’m going to go dive into that one!

If you’re looking for a fun and hot romantic suspense that will surprise you and keep you guessing and your attention, look no further. Read this one now!

Lexi Blake is on my list of authors who I immediately read when she releases a book, no matter the price. I feel in love with her writing when I started her Masters and Mercenaries series. While that series is definitely more on the BDSM level mixed with her romantic suspense, this new series isn't as intense in the erotic area.

Order of Protection is the start of new series and Lexi starts this one out on the right foot. Lexi definitely had my emotions running amok in this one - and it's most likely not what you are thinking.

Henry and Win are both recovering from a disease that controlled them - he was an alcoholic and she an anorexic. These two are both broken individuals trying to find control in their life and move forward from their problems. Win and Henry were only suppose to be a brief affair and never to see one another again. However, reality has a different plan for them. And when Win calls upon Henry for help, his true self comes out.

Henry did a number on my emotions - I have to say that most of the time I wanted to rip his balls off and shove them down his throat. The way he treated Win when he realized who she was had my hackles up. Even now as I am writing this, I am so pissed off at him. ARGH!!

What I loved even more was Win not once took his shit - she refused to be his damn doormat. She is straight forward and argued him to the bone. Win is a fighter and a survivor and not even this problem was going to take her down with a battle. I love Win so much - can ya tell?!?

Lexi plays this story out beautifully - it has the suspense, romance and the sexiness (though not as spicy as Masters and Mercenaries but still damn good). She blends it all together with some great characters to deliver one hell of a great book.

Order of Protection is the perfect book for her new readers to discover why so many of us love her and it's also a great book for her current fans to fall in love with a whole new series. Lexi has this ability that she blends suspense and romance perfectly without either overruling the other. I love her writing so much.

The book was going to be a solid 5-star read. I loved the main characters from the very first page and the worked well if you ask me. Then Henry had to find Win's secret and act like a first class douche which in return made me hate him a little and get frustrated because the feelings were there and Win was not the woman Henry's twisted mind made her be. She is one of the good heroines and a different kind of strong. I loved how she wasn't giving up and instead was saying things like, I will come back, I will wait for you instead of creating drama. She had tons of that in her life already. From the blurb, you can see that her best friend was murdered and she is the main suspect. To be honest, I hated the said best friend and I wanted to see her ruined, but I wasn't expecting something like that. Brie was toxic and I would have removed her from a life a long time ago.

I wanted to say that I guessed the identity of the person who killed that not so poor girl, but I will be lying. The book has a lot of twists and turns and I simply couldn't guess all of them. I only guessed a part of the truth which is great. I am always in for a good murder case.

The author did a good job in blending the new and the old characters together. I was happy with the return of some of the characters and I was excited to meet the other two men who will get a book in the series. I wonder if Margarita will get a book and I hope she will. Noah Lawless was the best secondary character one could ask for and I hope his book will be published before Margarita's. I can't wait to see what's inside his mind and how his lady will take him down.

The romance between Win and Henry was good when Henry wasn't trying to hurt Hurt or keep her at arm's length. Win is the best character in the book and Noah comes second. Sorry Henry, but every time I thought you were going to let go of Win's past you kept bringing it up and I wanted to slap you. I would recommend the book which is a stand-alone and it's a strong beginning for a new series.

Outstanding suspense and romance! A thrill of a pace from the moment you enter the vortex of Blake’s romantical literacy world and it doesn’t end until the last word.

I was quite unsure of a new novel, the first of her Courting Justice series by Lexi Blake as I’m a massive fan of the McKay-Taggert world as well as her new rebranding of all her Sophia Oak novels, but I honestly shouldn’t have had any doubts. Order of Protection had mystery, lust, suspense and of course steamy encounters that I wanted to last a bit longer. Even though it’s a new spin on a new novel, you do have old faces from the MT team as well as the Lawless Family.

Unlike her McKay-Taggert series where you ‘might’ have an inkling on who’s lurking in the shadows, who’s pulling the strings… this novel had me guessing until the big unveiling. Which by the way, I was a little shocked to say the least.

I can’t say enough positives about Lexi’s newest novel, she keeps surprising me with the creative mind she has. For her to ‘pop’ out books left and right that are addictive, one-clickers and novels that will long be left in your mind when you finish is just beyond fascinating!

Henry is an aggressive criminal lawyer whose main concern was winning his cases and was less concerned about who his clients were or what he needed to do to achieve the results he wanted. After the very public demise of his marriage and divorce as well as his subsequent addiction he has had time to reflect on his life and what he wants for his future. He has picked himself up and started a law firm with two of his buddies.

Due to her family Win has spent her entire life under the media spotlight and the constant criticism and interference caused an addiction of her own as that was the only way she felt powerful, but she has now managed to control it.

They meet by chance while on vacation but they never expected to see each other after the vacation ended. When Win is charged with the murder of her friend she doesn’t know who else to call but Henry except he is livid to find out who she is and the media attention she draws as he just escaped that situation. He is not about to refuse to help her and that leads them on an adventure filled with romance and suspense as they try to find out who is behind the crime and why.

Win and Henry are perfect together as her feisty personality challenged him at every turn and there is no denying the heat between them. I really enjoyed the first book of this new series and I await to see what the other partners have in store for them.

Meet the Monster of Manhattan. Henry is the type of lawyer that is ruthless, cutthroat, and doesn’t really have a conscience where his client’s guilt or innocence is concerned. That ‘no holds bar’ behavior is what has driven Henry to the top of his game. With a very public image and a marriage to an actress, Henry knows a thing or two about living under a spotlight. After a widely publicized divorce, Henry wants nothing more than to shrink from the scrutiny of the public eye. Then Win stumbles into his life….

As a reality star and ‘Billion Dollar Baby’, Win is no stranger to life in the public eye. Born to a wealthy family, Win was the only survivor of an accident that claimed the life of her family. Win found herself instantly attracted to Henry. Both battling demons….Win fought anorexia and Henry was once an alcoholic…the two found a connection that clearly kept those demons at bay. What was supposed to be a brief affair due to their individual ambitions and commitments, Henry and Win parted ways believing that was the end of their time together.

Tragedy brought these two tattered souls together again. Henry finally learned Win’s true identity and cannot fight the feelings of betrayal and anger. Now Win’s fate lies in the hands of the man who is now angered by her very being. A far cry from the person that spent a couple of weeks in bliss with Win not so very long ago.

Who is ready for a new series by author Lexi Blake??? Does it help to know one of my favorite Lawless characters has a part in this book? Win is framed for a murder she didn’t commit. Henry is jaded from the past, and learns that the woman he spent a couple of weeks enjoying on the island is not who he thought she was. Creating an enticing romance that is anything BUT predictable.

Secrets fuel this suspenseful read in a world that only Lexi Blake could create. A fantastic beginning to a series that can only tempt you with each passing page. Trust me when I say….Lexi has created yet another unforgettable novel that you definitely need to add to your collection today.

4.5 Stars

I am not sure what I was expecting from this title, but this wasn't it.

In the best possible way.

Win and Harry were a little more broken and damaged than I was expecting. A little more fragile, a little more drawn to one another because they each knew where the other was coming from, how the broken pieces could fit together as a while, but stay a little broken...and they saw this in each other.

I loved how resistant Henry was to being with her, while being so drawn to her that he keeps accidentally letting Win into his life, even when he thinks he doesn't want to.

Lexi Blake always packs a punch, she always tells an interesting story, and this one tells a different yet interesting story. I am not sure why this felt so different, honestly...it had suspense, a mystery, secrets, danger and a character from a previous title (Hello, there...it was nice to see you although I am not telling anyone who you are) and so much of Lexi's normal stuff that I really am not sure why it felt so different.

But, I loved it all the more for this reason.

I recommend this title.

4.25 stars. This was really good! This is Henry and Winnie/Win's book. Winnie, a socialite, and Henry, a criminal lawyer in NYC, both have pasts and struggles. When they meet on the beach in the Hamptons, they feel an immediate attraction and connection. Both agree that they can only be together for a few weeks while on vacation on the island before they go back to real life, as neither of them are in the right place for a relationship. But after they say goodbye and leave the island, fate has other plans. Tragedy strikes, bringing them together and bringing all of their past secrets to light to each other. There are some hard feelings that they didn't tell each other all of their baggage before, but somehow they manage to work it out. When Win is accused of causing the tragedy and put on trial, Henry defends her and fights for her freedom.

I really enjoyed this start to a new series. This book is a spin-off of the Masters and Mercenaries, with a few characters from that series added as security. I liked Henry and really liked Win. They are opposites that attracted. Henry is older, jaded, a recovered alcoholic with a bad marriage and a career scandal under his belt. Winnie is younger, and hasn't had an easy life either, being an orphan and a recovered anorexic, but she's still hopeful that she can go on and have a normal life, leaving behind all of her baggage. Henry was an ass at times, jumping to conclusions and stereotyping Winnie. But I did feel like he got over that and I was no longer bothered by it. He was strong and protective underneath it all. I loved that Winnie was also very strong, having been through a lot, but positive, optimistic and hopeful for a happy future. At times their misunderstandings and the way they hurt each other killed me, but once they worked everything out, I thought they were better for having gone through it. They really were better together than apart. They were a great couple.

There is no BDSM in this book, but there is an awesome murder mystery. I loved the balance with romance. Often I feel like romantic suspense books are too light on the romance, but that wasn't true in the case. The story was engrossing and original. I loved the law aspect. I loved that one of my friends is written in as a character in this book too.

Overall, this was a sexy, suspenseful, and emotional read, which I very much enjoyed! I look forward to more from Ms. Blake and this series in the future!

Lexi Blake constantly weaves romantic stories with great intrigue. I love her romantic suspense stories, I first started reading her Lawless series and I love the suspense! In this new series, Courting Justice, a misfit band of lawyers create a firm of their own. This includes some previous characters like Noah Lawless. I'm eagerly anticipating his story but Order of Protection is about the main lawyer, Henry Garrison aka The Monster of Manhattan.
Henry is trying to gain clients back after the notoriety that swirled around him because of his last marriage. Turmoil and dramatic antics ended a marriage that was not a good match. Clean off of rehab and trying to look forward, Henry never wants to end up back in the limelight and then Taylor Winston-Hughes ends up in his home.
Taylor is such a great heroine. She is the perfect amount of sweet and sassy. She's always moved in posh circles as she was born into one of the wealthiest families but, it's not all glitz and glam. Taylor finds herself embroiled in a mess that involves the murder of her best friend. Henry and Taylor had a chance encounter but the circumstances have pushed together once again. Taylor needs his help and Henry isn't sure he can give his legal advice without entangling his feelings. What ensues is a suspense filled novel with twists I didn't see coming. Some may seem far-fetched but they were definitely shocking and elevated the story to new heights.

I’m a huge fan of Lexi Blake’s romantic suspense stories/series, so the fact that she just released book one in a new series has me all kinds of excited. In Order of Protection, Blake introduces readers to a world ‘where love and law’ not only coexist but also direct characters’ words and deeds, in both positive and negative ways.

Henry Garrison and Win Hughes shared a brief fling at a time where they both desperately needed to connect with someone, and for two blissful weeks, they gave into their desires and then went their separate ways, never considering the fact that they would reconnect in an unwanted but necessary way due to Win’s arrest for murder. But things become even more complicated when Henry learns the truth of who Win is, which not only makes him not want to take her on as a client, but it also brings out his ‘Monster of Manhattan’ persona, which is not something Win ever wanted to see.

Henry’s ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ behavior didn’t sit too well with me; I struggled with understanding why he became a grade A jerk once he found out who Win really was. Don’t get me wrong, I get that she withheld important information, especially given his history with being in the public eye, but to turn from the charming and sexy man who spent two blissful weeks with Win to the cold and detached lawyer who refuses to understand why she just wanted to be with him as herself not as Taylor Winston-Hughes and all that comes with that moniker just didn’t sit well with me, and I’m glad that Win didn’t put up with his jerkish behavior because I wanted to slap him in the face more than once. Henry does wise up, even if it takes him a bit to get there, which is why I didn’t completely write him off, but I did find it incredibly difficult to mesh his two personalities together and give him a pass for his nasty words and actions towards Win.

Win has been through hell and then some, but through it all, she has demonstrated true strength and courage. She’s an incredibly smart woman who won’t allow anyone to walk all over her and that includes the man who made her body hum but now only makes her head and heart hurt. The circumstances that Win finds herself in are high stakes, so she needs someone to represent her whose used to winning against all odds, and Henry is that attorney, but Win will have to endure his wrath and his hot and cold demeanor if she wants to prove her innocence, which she does, but not without proving to him exactly the woman she is and how lucky he would be to have her on his side in life and in love.

I definitely enjoyed Henry and Win’s story, and although I couldn’t decide if I wanted to hit or hug Henry throughout the entire story, he does redeem himself…it just took me a bit to get over his previous behavior and feel like he had Win’s back with everything that she faces in the book.

This is the first book by Lexi Blake I have read. This book popped up on Netgalley so I thought I would give it a try, new author and a genre I enjoy.
I was bored quite quickly going into this book, it felt like a normal romance book, not the romantic suspense we were promised.
I couldn't get into this book, and I can't say I was ever really fully invested in it. The characters didn't jump out to me. I thought I would like Henry but he annoyed me a lot. He was a man with the mindset "I'm always right. It's my way or the highway."
He was such a d*ck when he found out who Win really was but surely he would of been able to understand her reasoning for keeping her identity to herself. I bet he deals with a lot of people that would like to keep their life private. And that's what Win started a fresh start.
They both agreed to two weeks of sex and that's what they had. She had no obligation to him, or him to her. But he felt betrayed.
When the book finally got going, I did enjoy it. I couldn't predict who the murder was, and when I thought one thing was true something else happened. I was quite shocked at the ending, it took a spin I didn't see coming.
But I didn't understand some of the story line, while I know it's fiction and not real. Some of Win's past from when she was a baby. Like how did Mary know something had happened? How did they know where to find the wreckage? Why would you leave a baby in the middle of the ocean and hope someone finds her? It was a bit ridiculous, everything that brought the events 30 years down the line on.
I won't say this book has put me off trying anymore of the authors books. I'm always up for 2nd and 3rd chances.

Henry Garrison, also known as the Monster of Manhattan, is an extremely successful defence lawyer who saw his career go up in flames when he spiralled into alcoholism during the spectacular break up of his marriage to an actress. Now he's finally starting to put his life back on track, he's sober and he's started up a new law firm with friends hoping to slowly rebuild his reputation. He meets Win Hughes when he's on a last vacation before building his business starts to take over his life again, they have a hot fling but agree not to continue it when they get back to their lives no matter how much they might want otherwise.

What he didn't know is that Win is actually Taylor Winston-Hughes, daughter of an incredibly wealthy family and part of the rich and famous set he promised never to join again after his breakup. When Win is accused of murdering her best friend Henry is the only person she trusts to prove her innocence but, as much as his firm could use the publicity of such a high profile case, he's worried about getting involved with someone who is constantly harassed by reporters and being dragged back into the limelight.

I really enjoyed the first half of this story, I thought Henry and Win's first meeting was cute and I enjoyed seeing them connect with each other. They both have a lot of baggage, Henry is an alcoholic and Win is also in recovery from an eating disorder, but I liked the way they opened up to each other and they were able to understand each other better because of their own issues. They made a really sweet couple and even though I knew Henry wouldn't be happy when he discovered Win's identity I was still rooting for them as a couple. Then when they returned to their daily lives things went a bit sideways.

Win was the same sweet girl she'd always been, someone who had worked hard to rid her life of the toxic people who helped drive her into an eating disorder and just trying to stay out of the spotlight. Henry on the other hand found his inner shark again and that wasn't an improvement on his personality. When he uncovered the truth about Win's identity he was vicious about it. Yes she'd hidden things from him and I get why that upset him but I think he took it too far and if I was Win I'd have given up on him long before he came around. Unfortunately that made it much harder to root for them as a couple and I started to wonder if they'd be better off apart. Henry did sort himself out eventually but I would have liked it to have happened a little sooner than it did.

I also felt the murder mystery ended up being a bit too far fetched, certain parts made sense but others were just ridiculous and I can't understand how nobody ever suspected anything sooner. One thing I will say is that I liked Henry's business partners, David and Noah, far more than I liked Henry so I have very high hopes for their stories. I also like the way Lexi Blake manages to connect all of her different series together, I've not read her Masters and Mercenaries or Lawless series yet (I'm new to Lexi Blake's writing and have been slowly working my way through her backlist!) but I always enjoy cameo appearances and they definitely make me more excited to get to those stories.

I am really beginning to believe that Lexi Blake just is unable to write a bad book, I mean I don’t ever want her to obviously but I haven’t ever not liked or loved a book by her. Order of Protection is another one to be added to my liked it column. This is the beginning of the new series Courting Justice and for me it was a good start to a series that I can see being great.

Henry and Win will at times have you frustrated, Henry more so than Win in my opinion. Now I am all for an asshole hero and Henry yeah he deserves that title and a couple more. Secrets, lies and more are what you get with Order of Protection. I don’t want to give away any of the plot because I don’t want to spoil it but if you are a fan of Ms. Blake’s books you know that she has to throw in some twists and turns along the way. This one also includes some real life issues, again no spoilers, but I appreciate the way that they are handled.

Order of Protection as I stated above it a good start to this new series, and I think fans of Ms. Blake’s books will enjoy this one I know I did.

This book was awesome. It had a bit of everything I love in a good book. It had romance, suspense, funny moments and it kept me on my toes guessing until the end. I also adore how Lexi Blake can fluidly blend characters from other series into new ones. I love those little tidbits whenever I find them. It makes it all a bit more interesting.

Henry, is a man who is trying to rebuild his image, self worth, and is fighting to keep his demons from damaging him again. He is a lawyer, but a bit of a disgraced one. At one time, he was someone people feared in a courtroom, now after a divorce from a well known actress and a stint in rehab, he’s starting over. In order to do that he has to sell his childhood home. While taking a few days to pack things up and say goodbye to a house he loves, he meets Win.

Win, is back at her childhood home taking a break before she starts grad school. When she meets Henry, she knows who he is but is happy that he doesn’t know her. After all, she’s been known as he Billion Dollar Baby all of her life. Win has been through a couple of hard years personally. She loves that Henry doesn’t know who she really is, yet she knows she should tell him. It all comes to a head when Win finds herself in need of a lawyer.

The romance between Henry and Win was sweet, easy and in a timing that works. I loved that they both understood each other’s personal demons and could handle them. They were both strong characters and personalities. The suspense in this book was great. It wasn’t over the top, but just enough to keep me guessing who did what and why. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this series holds. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Whoa twisted! Order of Protection was one wild ride from beginning to end. It was dangerous, sexy, tragic and convoluted in only the way Lexi Blake pull off. I will say that things started a bit slowly but they sure did pick up about a quarter of the way through.

I liked Win from the get go. Henry, on the other hand, took some getting used to. He was quite closed off while trying to dig himself out of the drama of his recent past. But Win has a tragic past that haunts her as well. One that keeps trying to pull her back into what almost destroyed her. The things that haunted them played a big part in the push-pull between them and made the anticipation of when they would finally give into it that much sweeter.

It was an unexpected tragedy that really stirred the pot and brought all those feelings to the forefront. I don't usually like a lot of back and forth but for Henry and Win it worked. As her plight forced them into close quarters it had Henry questioning everything he thought he knew and wanted. I liked seeing his softer and protective side where Win was concerned.

Henry and his small but savvy firm thought they had the case wrapped up- thanks to a highly unexpected ally. However there was more darkness hiding. But also some hope too. Holy moly I didn't expect things to take the dark turn they did and my head was spinning. Oh that ending, be still my heart, it was just what Win and Henry deserved. Lexi Blake took me on a wild and dangerous ride that left me wanting more.

You know what I truly love about this author? Her ability to create new characters while also tying in all previous favorites. If you've read her Masters & Mercenaries series as well as her Lawless trilogy, then you're in for a treat with the cameos that will appear in her brand new Courting Justice series.

In Order of Protection, we're introduced to the Monster of Manhattan, Henry Garrison, as he picks up the pieces of his life after he hits rock bottom following a bitter divorce from his famous actress wife and the ensuing scandal of it that almost cost him his career as one of the top criminal defense attorneys in NY. He's done with women, and he's officially done with the rich and spoiled famous ones.

Taylor Winston Hughes is no stranger to the limelight. As the infamous Billion Dollar Baby, the heiress is used to being in the scrutiny of the public eye. At one point, it almost cost her her life. She meets Henry at a time when they need each other the most. But while she knows right away who he is, Henry has no idea that Win isn't just a gorgeous woman that he has a weeklong affair with. And when she's framed for the murder of her best friend, he's the only one that she can count on.

Henry and Win's relationship was tumultuous at best. Both of them have been burned in the past. But where Win is more realistic about it and isn't afraid to own her feelings, Henry runs from them at all costs. He goes hot and cold often, and when he finds out Win's true identity, he turns downright ice cold. There were times where I wanted to slap him, but I also understood the whys of it. The character development was truly on point here, and it helped sympathize with both characters easily.

I really loved Win. She's not a naive and spoiled little rich girl. This is a woman that knows what she wants and is a survivor. She's not afraid to stand up to Henry and his mood swings. I enjoyed her quite a bit.

There's quite a bit happening with the story between the romance and the suspense of who done it that leaves you guessing until the very end. I enjoyed the suspense element immensely, especially since it really did leave me reeling once the truth of everything came out. The romance was great, even if it ran hot and cold at times. I loved the angst between this couple, though I'll admit that I wanted Win to make Henry work for it at times and not give into him as easily as she did at times.

I LOVE that we get more Noah Lawless and I'm practically salivating for his book. I'll settle for David's next since Lexi does like to save the best for last and I'll take what I can get.

Order of Protection was a romance full of suspense and deeply buried secrets. It was had a bit of a slow start, but when it picked up steam around the 40% mark, it was unputdownable. Lexi Blake can really do no wrong with me, and I can't wait for more in this series.
