A good continuation to this new espionage/thriller series. We get some more interesting world-building, more time with interesting and engaging characters, and plenty more hints for what might be to come.

Thanks to netgalley.com and Serial Box for the advance ARC for my honest review.

The Glass Slipper, is the second installment of a series that, will total 11 episodes, that make up False Idol, Season 1 and the author varies with each episode.

This was my first read from author Patrick Lohler, his writing style is likable and will look at his other writing. It's basically about FBI Agent Layla el-Deeb, who is undercover in Cairo, tracking stolen Egyptian art that's smuggled out of the country, sold and the money flows back to support the terrorist group Moharib.

With 'The Glass Slipper', Agent el-Deeb is being assisted by FBI Art Crime agent Ellen Pierce, as she infiltrates the art elite, sees her balancing undercover work with socializing interacting with several of the rich children from art collectors and ends with her getting caught taking pictures of mail by the mother of one of the girls she befriended.

What makes this work is how likable of a character Agent Layla el-Deeb is and definitely will continue reading the rest of serial.

In this episode, we follow Layla as she tries to infiltrate into Egypt's socialites' inner circles.

Writing wise, it's simple and clear, however, it does have some tiresome repetitions.

Character wise, we get to know more about the "younglings" and their lifestyle. We also get to know more about Layla's life before the undercover operation.

Story wise, it's simple and has some coincidences that don't feel real.

Either way, this was a fun episode.

The Series didn't really hook in me so I won't be reading the rest of them!

This second installment in the False Idols serial read picked up and took off with the story. Its possible that this 2nd installment benefitted from not having to setup the story line the 1st, but enjoyed this one better. That isn’t to say the flow from the 1st author to the 2nd was extremely noticeable. This installment just hit the ground running and never let up. Full of mystery, intrigue, spy stuff, and jet setting with the rich. Layla continues to infiltrate the art world trying to identify the who is the funds and mastermind behind the movement arms into the US. She also gets caught up in a romance with a son of a potential suspect.
Can’t wait for the 3rd installment!
Thank you NetGalley and publisher, Serial Box, for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Thank you Netgalley and Serial Box for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review.

The Glass Slipper is the second part or episode in the False Idols series. Each book seems to be 30-40 pages long and every page is full of excitement and intrigue. The author is different from the first book, and although you can tell it's a different writer, the story is still very good and keeps with the original storyline of the first episode. Episode 2 picks up with Layla continuing trying to get a foot into the world of the art elite and bring back information to her boss. Layla finds herself at a crossroads of mixing business with pleasure and stepping up her social game to uncover the answers she needs to crack her case wide open. Episode 2 ends on a cliffhanger so be sure to have Episode 3 ready.
