This felt like a realistic and compassionate portrayal of a marriage in crisis, as well as a clear-eyed look at rural life. Esther seemed like a less symphathetic character than Anna initially, but Hewitt let us see the reasons behind her actions, even if we did not always agree with them. The Cumbrian setting was well-realised and engaging.

I love the stories of the Holley girls. This one focuses on Esther & her husband Will. I loved their story. I could just envision the 2 of them. I enjoy this small town & family. Can’t wait to read the next one.

Another great hit by a great author. Took a bit to get into this one, as it starts off with Esther showing up at the house of her parents, telling her mother she left her husband. A majority of the book is building up to the "why" and the slow progression to getting back together for her and Will. Once I got into the story, and then Esther and Will started talking and both learning to overcome their past, it got more interesting. I also liked her sisters, and wanted to know more about them. Would highly recommend this book and author.

I wanted to love this book as much as I loved the first one, but it really dragged in the middle for me (which is saying a lot for a book that's less than 300 pages!). I did like the story overall, though, and I'm definitely going to read the next one in the series.

Esther had been married to Will for a long time and had always loved the fact that he doesn't show his emotions as that is how she had always been....... until she has a miscarriage and suddenly her emotions are very much to the fore! Feeling that there is nothing left for her she leaves Will and goes back to the vicarage with her parents but now it is Will's turn to show his emotions but he wants to go back to the beginning and woo her properly going on dates... will this work can they get the love back?

As always a great book from Kate Hewitt I love the characters and how they work things out and looking forward to the next one in the series

I have to say, this is one of my favourite books. This was the second book of the series and I really enjoyed it. I'm pleased Esther and Will managed to sort out their marriage problems. I can't wait to read about Rachel's wedding.

A Vicarage Reunion by Kate Hewitt. A book that took me longer to get though. I hadn't read the previous book in The Holley Sisters of Thornthwaite this is book two. I enjoyed the small town setting of the village in England and the characters. This is the story of Esther moving back home with her parents and leaving her husband Will. I've read other books by Kate Hewitt and look for other books by this author.

The book starts as Esther has left her husband Will, and returned home to her parents at the vicarage.
Will can't understand what went wrong, and can't get Esther to talk to him. He wants to win her back so suggests they start dating, and get to know each other again.

A short but sweet read, left me wanting to read the other books in this series.

This was another great story from Kate Hewitt. Kate's stories are filled with great friends, people and characters put in wonderful life realistic situations that you can relate to. The characters are tested and we are proven that even if your life don't exactly turns out as you expect it to, you will get something else out of it. Something wonderful.

All her life, Esther has worked toward her next goal. So much so, that it seems she is crossing items off her to-do list rather than living her life. Emotions are something she has never done, so she thought Will was perfect for her, because he didn't either. When she finds out she is no longer pregnant, the emotions roll in and she doesn't know how to handle them, but she is convinced her marriage is over . Will is blind-sided when Esther walks out, but determined to get to the bottom of what went wrong. Esther has to discover what makes her happy and how to deal with emotions and find a happy and fulfilling life while, hopefully, she and Will can find their way back to each other.
Poor Esther broke my heart. She was so lost and confused, so she headed to the best place to find herself: home to her Mother and Father. Their strength and support, as well as their own relationship, help Esther start to find her way. I can always trust that when I pick up something written by Kate Hewitt that it will have strong characters with lives and problems that I can relate to, while approaching the story in a way that will draw you in and feel every emotion. This was no different.

Oh Esther and Will... hard workers, loyal to a fault, family-oriented... and then one trauma busts it all up and unearths some unexpressed feelings. Thankfully, their little town -- including Esther's family -- provides the guardrails to help Esther and Will find their way.
Their struggle was real. I've felt it and I'm sure all married couples have felt it at some time in their marriage. Things are going fine until they aren't. And sometimes the solution isn't exactly staring anyone in the face. That's why I am grateful for all the family and friends who witness wedding ceremonies - they're there to help support the marriage when it's foundering.
Kate Hewitt wrote more than just Esther and Will's relationship though. There were family dinners, lonesome walks, friends meeting at the pub, sibling love, the wisdom of a mother, the comfort of a father, and so much forgiveness ... all in a little village around an old vicarage in a wonderful, delightful series.

I'm really enjoying Kate Hewitt's series based around the Vicarage and its family in a small Lake District community. The second book, A Vicarage Reunion, tells Esther's story. The oldest of the Holley daughters is married to a sheep farmer but their lives have become mundane. Eventually Esther can bear it no longer and leaves Will. But life back home is not easy especially as impending changes there impact on her life. The unfolding story of the lives of a vicarage family is fascinating and just thought-provoking enough to keep this accessible series interesting. A whole-hearted recommendation from me!

I loved the second instalment of the Holley Sisters of Thornthwaite.
This book focuses on Esther and her husband Will and the ups and downs of their relationship.
Well written and easy to read.
I’m already looking forward to the next book in this series.

Kate Hewitt's stories have always grabbed me. Mainly because it may start out as a small town contemporary romance but it rarely ever remains that way. A Vicarage Reunion is no exception. The blurb is definitely misleading, it doesn't really give a hint about the anguish both Will and Esther have gone thru prior to their separation and there are moments when you feel Esther is giving both the reader and Will headaches with not knowing what she really wants. Will isn't exactly blameless as well but I do appreciate that he was willing to find out what was wrong because he believed that his marriage was worth fighting for. There are discussions about faith (since Esther is a pastor's daughter) but its not central to the storyline, rather its used to illustrate that there are different ways people handle marriage. I really like the way the story was resolved, how both Esther and Will acknowledged that they necessarily didn't need to change themselves completely but rather be open about what they felt and what they are thinking. Their chemistry is apparent but again the way the handled their current situation makes their attraction much more believable and emotional.

A miscarriage results in a marriage in trouble. Unable to deal with the miscarriage, the loss of control results in Esther leaving her husband. Neither Esther or Will has dealt very well with the loss and a lack of communication leaves both parties feeling cut off and alone. Esther moves back home, but finally realizes she needs to make changes in her life. Will too, is determined that things must change and sets about trying to win back his wife.

This is the second book in the Holley Sisters of Thornthwaite series. I loved the first book in this series and was looking forward to reading this one. Unfortunately it just wasn't as good as the first one. I did not find the main character, Esther, to be very likable. Her husband Will was wonderful and I spent most of the book wondering why he wanted her for his wife at all. The book just seemed to lackthe warmth of the first book that I enjoyed so much. I was happy the rest of the family I grew to love in the first book were included in this one, they were the best parts of the book. I am not sure if I will read the third one after being so disappointed with this one.

A Vicarage Reunion by Kate Hewitt
The Holley Sisters of Thornthwaite, Book 2
Welcome to Thornthwaite, a quaint village tucked up in England’s beautiful but rainy Lake District… where homecomings and surprises await the four Holley sisters…
Esther Holley, the eldest in the family, has always had her life firmly in control until a miscarriage knocks her off course. Two months later, still emotionally spinning, she separates from her husband Will, a sheep farmer and man of few words and moves back in with her parents.
New challenges face them as they start over–and new chances too. Can Esther and Will save their marriage, especially when faced with the hardest decision of all?
this is Esther and Will Holley's story.
Esther stood behind her, hands on her hips, smiling in a stern sort of way. “It’s only been three years, after all.”
“I saw you in August,” Anna protested as Rachel gave her one final squeeze and then stepped back.
“But you haven’t been back to Thornthwaite in three years,” Esther remarked, typically. She’d probably been tracking everyone’s movements on a spreadsheet.
Life as a singleton thirty something living in her parents’ house is miserable, but Esther is determined to re-boot her life, including going on a few unfortunate dates.
She’s shocked when tight-lipped Will shows up on her doorstep determined to woo her back. They’ve been married for seven years, but Will wants to return to the beginning, dating and getting to know each other again.
New challenges face them as they start over–and new chances too.
Can Esther and Will save their marriage, especially when faced with the hardest decision of all? read this book to find out.
A Vicarage Reunion by Kate Hewitt is a 3 star book.
