A good story by Ms. Fenske. Interesting and unique plotline. it was full of heat, humor and lots of innuendos. overall I liked the story.

Sometimes when things keep going wrong for you, you have to reevaluate your way of doing things - just in case it is your own fault! That’s just what Lisa Michaels has decided to do. In fact she’s decided to strive to do the opposite of what she would normally do for just a month, to see if this has a more positive impact on her life and romantic encounters. That leads to her proposing a month of no strings sexual encounters to Dax Kensington during which she’ll explore what life is like not following the rules!

This is a story of first impressions being so wrong, of a couple going into a time limited relationship with no long term expectations but love finding a way for them. The story has plenty of humour but lots more steamy sexual encounters. Don’t expect things to happen behind closed doors in this scorching hot, explicit story! Actually, some of the time in this novel I thought the sexual encounters detracted from the actual plot and meant I the character development was somehow lacking. As I said for the first story in this series, if you like your novels packed with explicit sexual romps and a heartwarming romance, you’ll probably love this.

I requested and received a copy of this novel via NetGalley. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.

Lisa meets Dax in a bar after being left at the altar by her fiance. She decides to do the opposite of everything she might normally do in a dating scenario to test out ways of getting out of her dating rut. Lisa and Dax had chemistry from the beginning though Lisa seemed a bit naive in some of the situations.

The test is the second stand alone book in The list series. There is no need to have read the previous book to understand what is happening in this one. It was funny in some parts and I liked reading it, but I had a couple of problems with it. I felt like I only got to know the characters in a superficial way. We learn a couple of things about their pasts, but nothing is explored very deeply. Dax had some issues and it took us too much time to find them out. Lisa's behavior was sometimes unpredictable and it was coming out of the blue. I don't understand why she was making fun of Dax for wanting to bid on a specific item. It wasn't a joke that people who are in a relationship make. It felt mean. Dax is a better character than Lisa. I liked him and he is one the reasons I am recommending the book. The writing wasn't bad, but I wanted some character development.

Lisa Michaels is ready for a change and what better way to do that than to do everything the opposite of how she does things in her life. Her first adventure in her test is to go for the kind of guy she'd never go for and that's where Dex Kensington comes in. However, Lisa never imagined she'd find a guy worth taking a chance on forever again. Will Dax and Lisa achieve happy ever after, or will the hurts of their pasts hold them back from ever giving each other a chance at forever?

I've only recently started reading this author's books, but I've got to say I've loved the ones I've read so far and this story was an amusing and very entertaining read that drew me in from the beginning, as Lisa is determined to have some fun and forget about her problems. Most especially the fact that her fiancé left her at the altar. However, it was from the moment the hero and heroine came face-to-face for the first time that had me completely hooked because of what Lisa says to Dex and his reaction. Talk about getting her point across in a way that he'd definitely understand.

Both the main characters were captivating and I loved every moment they were in each other's company, as their banter had me smiling or laughing. Moreover, I liked how the heroine went after what she wanted and what she wanted was Dex, even though she's adamant that their relationship will only last until she's completed what she classes as 'the Test'. I also liked how she wasn't afraid to try different things to what she's used to, because it shows she's not always the princess that Dex thinks she is. Certainly, he challenges her to experience what it's like to do things the opposite of what she would usually do. Will she be daring enough to do everything he asks, especially when it comes to a certain article of clothing?

While the hero, he's had it tough and I could understand why he hates when people make the wrong assumptions about him. However, in saying that, I liked that he was strong enough to brave situations that he normally wouldn't, even though it makes him uncomfortable. I also liked how willing he was to help the heroine on her quest and that he pushed her out of her comfort zone. Certainly, the heroine needed some fun in her life and Dex definitely knows how to provide a good time. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was how loyal he is and that he didn't turn his back on his brother after the guy did something bad that landed him in prison.

Overall, Ms. Fenske has delivered an absolutely engaging read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was delightful; the romance full of exquisite heat and passion that shows how right these two are for each other; and the ending had me loving what Dex does to win Lisa back. It's trickery at it's best. Luckily, Lisa is a good sport about it. I would recommend The Test by Tawna Fenske, if you enjoy the mysterious strangers trope, the opposites attract trope, or books by authors Amy Andrews, Avery Flynn, Samanthe Beck and Alice Gaines.

Forced to rethink her life at the most inopportune of times, Lisa discovers that success does not always breed happiness. The Test is one woman's quest to sync her mind and heart to all the possibilities. Sometimes, the road less traveled is the path where we're meant to be. Ms. Fenske delights with true to life characters who are easy to empathetize with and hard not to fall for. There's a piece of every reader in her clueless characters and heartwarming stories.

As I'm sitting on a plane, literally laughing out loud, thinking to myself - is this the best place to start this book? How many people think I'm crazy? Do I care? No. No I do not.

Dax could not be more different than Lisa's normal type. Dressed in jeans, with tatted arms, he couldn't be further from the businessman types she usually sees. But after she was jilted at the altar, she's ready to try something new...so she grabs the bull by the horns and hightails it home with the sexy as sin welder.

Lisa and Dax had extremely different upbringing - Lisa was raised as a society girl. Her mannerisms, clothes, hair, and even her apartments decorations speak to the kind of person she's always been. But something about Dax brings out a side of Lisa that she never knew existed, which is why she proposes help her with a Test. "The" Test. She desperately wants Dax to help guide her to make new choices that are outside of her comfort zone and the opposite of her instincts.

As they move through The Test, Dax is finding himself outside his comfortable zone as well. Although he has built an insanely successful business, he's extremely uncomfortable, but is joining Lisa at the events she needs to attend so that she can rub elbows with potential clients for her interior design business. As Dax and Lisa go through The Test, they both begin to realize that their preconceived idea's about one another fall to the wayside, and both of them are dreading the end of the month they allotted to this process.

I loved seeing the changes in each of the characters throughout the book. The prejudice that Lisa readily tosses to the wayside, and the joy she is finding while embracing these decisions she would not have conceived of were it not for Dax. In addition, the banter between Dax and Lisa is off-the-wall funny, and their physical attraction is so hot I'm surprised my eReader didn't go up in flames! the test is undeniably one of the most sexy stories of opposites attracting that I have ever read. I highly recommend picking up your copy today!

4 stars!
I enjoyed this book! Sometimes, I think I need to try doing the opposite of that I should be doing to see what would happen in life. That is exactly what Lisa does under the guidance of Dax. This was a fun read. My firs from this author and it won't be my last!

While this book is steamier than most Tawna Fenske books, it has the perfect balance of hot and sweet to make you keep wanting to turn the page.
Lisa always thought she had the perfect life planned out. After her fiance left her, she has decided to do something a little different. Lisa decides to make her decisions for the next thirty days opposite of what she would normally do, starting with taking the sexy man across the room home for the night. Dax mistakes Lisa for his ex at a club, not knowing his life was about to get a little crazy.
The chemistry between Lisa and Dax had me afraid my e-reader was going to melt. They are what each other need, but didn't realize it. They push each other out of their comfort zones.
I loved this book. It is the perfect mix of funny, serious, and steamy. While it mentions characters for the first book in the series, you don't need to read it before reading this one; however, I recommend that book also.
I received an advanced readers copy for an honest review.

Holy hotness Batman! With a similar set up as The List, The Test is a fun, flirty and incredibly hot story.

Lisa is going through a rough patch, her fiancée left her at the altar and the life she always thought she wanted is no longer within her grasp. And anyway, it’s not like all her plans and careful decisions have really served her well. When a hunky motorcycle riding guy approaches her, she decides to try going with the opposite of her usual instinct. Instead of ignoring him, she takes him for a spin.

Dax approached the blond at the bar thinking to rub his meteoric success to his bitch of an ex, only to get propositioned by the sexy chick that made him laugh. Lisa needs to get out of her comfort zone and Dax is just the guy to do it. They decide to spend a month together testing the boundaries of Lisa’s poised lifestyle.

With an incredible chemistry that takes them both by surprise, every thing they put to the test brings them closer together. Soon it’s not only amazing sex they’re sharing but pretty much everything they can, still using the tests as a pretext.

I enjoyed both Lisa and Dax. Lisa was intent on not only breaking out of her shell but changing her preconceived notions about herself and her future. She might have come off as a snob but that was so not who she really was. I totally loved witnessing her personal growth.

Dax was one sexy beast who had a really rough childhood causing some big issues which made him prone to get defensive. Especially when Lisa unknowingly triggered memories from his past relationship and childhood. For the sexy, confident man hunk he was, it threw me a bit when he’d get in the “I’m-not-good-enough-we-won’t-work” mindset. It’s good that as the story progressed, I could understand where it all came from.

With lots of scorching hot sextivities, funny banter, nosy sisters and the most hilarious dirty talk, The Test was a great follow up to The List and I can’t wait to see what comes next.

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4
Lisa Michaels is trying to figure out her what to do with her newfound freedom. Being left at the altar has a way of making a girl think about her choices. Lisa is looking for a bit of a change. But she never thought that change would come in the form of an extremely hot guy. Let alone to meet him at lunch with her sisters.

Dax Kensington can’t believe his luck running into his ex like this. But as he sidles up to her to rub his success in her face he realized his mistake. This lovely creature isn’t his ex at all. Just as he is about to leave this stranger propositions him with an offer he can’t refuse.

As always Ms. Fenske’s stories leave me laughing and wanting more. The Test is a great story of two people that couldn’t be more different, yet they work together perfectly! I loved watching Dax take Lisa to places she never could have dreamed of. I really can’t wait to see what is next in this series. It is sure to be sweet, sassy and smexy!!

Dax is just what Lisa needs...
This book is written in Dax and Lisa's alternating POV and can be read as a standalone. I know Lisa's personality was starting to change after her fiancee left her, but having read the first book I didn't really think this one showed how bad she was. I love the lightness that Junie brings to the series and seeing Cassie and Simon a bit in this book as well. While this book did have some steam and a bit of humor, I didn't feel the connection with Dax and Lisa. There were times I almost felt that this book was too high class for me and I wasn't able to follow. This is an author I really enjoy but sadly, this book just wasn't right for me.

An early copy of this book was provided to me via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Lisa seems to always do the “right” thing. Unfortunately that didn’t stop her fiancé from leaving her standing at the altar. When she’s in a bar with her sisters she’s approached but a very large, very muscled man named Dax. Her gut is telling her to send him away, so she does the opposite of what her gut is telling her – she takes him home for a one-night stand. Despite it being a one-night stand Lisa really likes Dax. She decides that she’s going to give herself a test. She asks for Dax’s help and he agrees. Lisa basically engages Dax, for the next month, to help her do the opposite of whatever her gut is telling her to do.

Dax is a tattooed, muscled, man yet highly intelligent. He doesn’t believe he should even be allowed to touch Lisa and her incredibly soft skin. He does, however, and loves every minute of it. When she proposes her test, Dax thinks it’s a fun idea and goes along with it. He never believed that he would start to have feelings for Lisa, so he dreads the end of the month-long test.

This was an incredibly cute book, hot and sexy as well. Lisa wasn’t as buttoned-up as I think the author wanted us to believe she was but she was still pretty straight-laced. That didn’t stop her from easily falling in with Dax’s plans for her. I loved that they got along so well from day one and I loved that they both felt the connection between them from that time as well.

Dax was a good guy but thought Lisa was too good for him. I was so happy that she stomped on that idea so that he was clear that he definitely was good enough.

The story made me laugh and of course made me blush as well (that Dax is a dirty-talking man, I loved it!) This is the only book that I’ve read by this author but it certainly won’t be the last. I loved her writing style and look forward to the next book in this series.

The Test is book two in The List series by Tawna Fenske. Tawna is a new to me author and this is one of those times when I’m smacking myself in the forehead and asking, why oh why have I not read anything of hers before. This book is fantastic. It’s so funny it made me snort laugh, while on the treadmill no less. It’s sexy as all heck, and enough swoon worthy moments to make me melt. I loved this book!

Lisa Michaels is thirty one years old and is an interior designer. She has spent her entire adult life building what she thought was the perfect life. But six months ago her perfect fiancé left her at the alter making her question everything. On a night out with her sisters she spots him across the bar, those wide shoulders and piercing eyes. He’s completely the opposite of the type of man she would usually go for. He’s rough around the edges, all brawn and muscles. Maybe she’s been going at life all the wrong way. Maybe she needs to do a test, to do the opposite of what she usually does, try to experience life in new ways. And she can start the test with this hunky man.

Dax Kensington has been burned before by hoity toity blondes who thought the world revolved around them. So why can he not take his eyes off the woman in the bar. There’s something about her, something special. When she proposes the test, and a month of no strings hotter than hot sex, he can’t refuse.

“Forget the antiquated triumph of deflowering some simpering virgin. The thrill of devirginizing Lisa with an array of new life experiences beats that hands down.”

Dax and Lisa went into The Test thinking they knew who the other person was. I think that’s the beauty of this book, how wrong they both were. Dax discovered that while Lisa was polished and buttoned up, she was smart, funny, and oh so brave. She went into everything with an enthusiasm that was contagious. But he has to remember, they are from different worlds. Their time together has an ending. He can’t let himself get too attached. That’s what he keeps telling himself anyway.

“He isn’t most guys. In every way possible, in all the best ways, Dax Kensington is not most guys. And somewhere deep down, I know that will make it harder to say goodbye when The Test is done.”

These two were so adorable together. Dax showed Lisa a different side of life. They laughed all the time, and had lots and lots of sexy times. They also let each other in, secrets were shared, souls were bared, and feelings grew.

“Talk dirty to me, Dax. Tell me what you want me to do to you.”

I just fell in love with these two, with this book. Lisa wears pearls and high heels and makes her own homemade marshmallows when Dax takes her camping. She’s like her own sunshine, where ever she goes, the light just seems to follow. And Dax, oh my gosh, the guy was sweet and adorable and sexy and, hot and, well, you get the picture.

You just have to read this book. It’s perfect. Now I need to go back and read the first book in the series. I think I’ve found a new author to add to my favorites list. I definitely will be reading more of her books. Just try to keep me away.

Yet again another Tawna Fenske book I really enjoyed! I liked the chemistry between Lisa and Dax - not instant but definitely palpable from word one. There was build up, a HOT opposites attract plot, and a lot of reality throughout. Both the characters and the storyline were believable, which is important even in fiction. I loved the wolves/art scene...there's at least one scene in all of Tawna's books I've read that has made me laugh aloud. This one, even though it is smoking hot, also had plenty of laughs too.

While this is the second book in this series, it can easily be read as a stand alone, as could book one. Don't worry that you need to read them in order. Definitely one-click this one now!

Needing a break from more darker reads this one fits the bill. This author knows how to write a romance that tingles you from head to toe. You have Lisa who is thrown off of what she thought she was going with making her do different. Switching it up is fun once in a while but in here you get to see what it causes especially when she runs into Dax. Between melting when reading about him and paying attention to what goes on with them this author has the recipe for a good ole romance that curls the toes.

I received a copy of THE TEST on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the publisher and author.

Five stars and here's why:

Tawna Fenske made me laugh, cry, swoon, and laugh some more. I love a good opposite attracts love story and THE TEST delivers! Lisa is cautious to the Nth degree. Dax is a bad boy with a wild side. When these two hit it off, sparks fly, pages turn, and I lost a whole day to a great love story. I couldn’t put it down. If you love sexy guys, smart girls, and a hella-romance, then this book is for you! Highly recommend!

I liked this one. Whilst at times it felt a little slow the writer definitely knows how to make you connect with her characters and storyline.

Everyone wants to cram for this test!

Whew! This read was a sizzling, fun romp with characters that warmed my heart and… everything else!

What would you do if you decided, for a month, you would do exactly the opposite of what you normally do? Night vs day. Stripes vs polka dots. And, more importantly, who would you do them with?

“I don’t suppose you’d be the guy to teach me a thing or two about learning to like it dirty?”

Lisa and Dax meet in very unorthodox circumstances – oh to be so bold! I loved how they each threw caution to the wind and dived right in to whatever was going to come… And what came was unexpected, passionate, fun and oh so satisfying…

Lisa was supposed to be uptight and prissy. Instead she was warm and funny, caring and unexpectedly shy. That didn’t stop her from grabbing the opportunity with Dax though which showed how smart she really was…

Dax should have been laid back, without a care in the world. And he was… Sort of. He was also a man with so much hurt hidden behind that sexy, handsome and irresistible suface. He may have grease behind his fingernails, and a bit of a chip on his shoulder, but he was also thoughtful and kind. And loves dogs. Who can resist a man who loves dogs? Not me…

Together, they were going to plunder their way through every ‘exam’ in their month-long test, laughing, loving and learning along every step of it… And I was joyfully along for the ride. I laughed, I snorted, I went “aww” so many times… This read was sexy goodness wrapped in warm laughter, tied with a bow of sweet, sweet love.
The perfect reading present!

Made me snort-laugh:
“Did she really just say “posit” and “thus” in the same sentence as “stiff” and “dirty”?

“It’s like the perfect color and shape and—“
“Are you planning to fuck it or decorate a room with it?”

when lisa michaels decides that she should stop trusting her instincts and do the opposite of what she would normally, she somehow ends up tangled up with dax kensington, a super succesful steelworker who grew up on the wrong side of the tracks and his lisa's total opposite.

from the moment they meet, sparks fly. and they have all sorts of crazy sex in all sorts of crazy places and its super sexy and fun. i loved it. it's not all smooth sailing, they both fail to confess their real feelings and when an uncomfortable social situation makes dax feel inadequate he lashes out.

once they figure out their real issues, they find a way to be together in spite of their differences.
