Tawna Fenske is one of those rare authors I know I can count on to always write a great book. She’s never disappointed me, and her latest in no exception. “The List” features two people, Lisa and Dax, who grew up on opposite sides of the economic spectrum. I was much more drawn to Dax than Lisa, simply because of my own past, but Lisa is a woman able to learn and change. Her willingness to try new things had me kind of envious, actually. And Dax is this big guy with a big heart and a great intuition about what Lisa really needs. His sensitivity to perceived slights seemed a bit too harsh, but it turns out he had reason to behave the way he did and it all made so much sense. (Trying not to spoil anything here!) And the emotional connection between the two was amazing, not to mention the incredibly hot encounters they had. Yow! I feel like my reviews for Tawna’s books might seem a bit repetitious, but I can’t help saying again that she just somehow manages to get the combination of sweet/sexy/funny/emotional perfectly in her work. Her characters feel honest and grounded in reality. You connect with them and their stories all the more because she gives them such dimensions. And she infuses it all with a slightly wicked, slightly wacky sense of humor. She’s simply a damn good writer. Needless to say, I highly recommend this book and this author.

“I needed to break out of my shell. To try new things. I never realized that until I met you.”

The Test is one of those books I feel like could have gone either way—a hot mess, or a hot, messy, sexy, simmering love story.

Guys, it’s definitely number two. Hands down. In the care of Tawna Fenske—who always seems to write the exact book I want at the exact moment I want it—Dax and Lisa’s story was perfection. Sexy, you betcha. Seriously, that alley scene? I may never recover from it . . . And funny? Absolutely—a blend of awkward moments and flirty back-and-forths that are more foreplay than playful at times. I mean, nerdy welding and history dirty talk, who knew?!

But it’s more than that. As is often the case with Ms. Fenske, her humor and heat hide a depth that is rewarding, engaging and topical. In this case, the value of self, and what it means to be who you are, with no apologies. For Lisa and Dax, that discovery *comes* (heh, pun intended—did you really think it wouldn’t be?!) with a tension and an emotion that kicks the ol’ heart rate up a notch or five.

The Test tested the limits of my ability to smile and swoon and get really flippin’ frustrated at characters that I just wanted to see believe in themselves and their choices. In a good way, FYI. Needless to say, now I’m done, my cheeks are hurting from the grin I sported through the very last page, and my heart is light. As it should be after reading something so perfectly messy, sexy and real.

“Pretty sure that’s the first time anyone’s said scurvy ro me during sex.”
“How about blunderbuss?”

Sexy, funny, smart love story

This is the first book I've read by Tawna Fenske but I'll definately be checking out her backlist and future books.
I absolutely loved this book.
Lisa and Dax were the perfect opposites attract couple. Somehow their difference softened all their edges. The writing was on point, prompting an assortment of emotions. The plot line had me turning the pages to see what the next "test" would be. I thought the secondary characters brought a fullness to the story and I'll be looking for their stories. I highly recommend this book.
I received an advance reader copy from Netgalley.

What can I say about this book? I freaking loved it. Tawna hits this one so far out of the park...
Lisa and her sisters are having drinks at some craft cocktail bar, Lisa is trying to blow off her sisters comments about her being left at the altar some six months prior by a dickless wonder, while wedding chatter ensues the elder sister is getting married in a few months.

Lisa becomes distracted by a man at the bar who she describes as having a well chiseled abs, two fully tatted arms and is huge. When he catches her staring, he suddenly finds himself sitting next to her making conversation. So unlike him, so unlike her. But Lisa had just decided that she needed to start doing the opposite of what she would normally do. That said, she stands up and takes this man Dax home with her. Lisa is wound way to tight. She's so bound up by doing the right thing, fussing over little things and by all means appearances. Dax, unbeknownst to Lisa has just made a fortune developing a cup made from steel that is double insulated. Dax has his own history and still thinks of himself as the boy from the other side of town, poor, abusive drunk father and the unworthy. Despite his success. His relationship with Lisa helps him see things differently. She calls this the Test. Kind of throws out there that maybe they could do this for a month and he'll teach her to challenge herself to do things she normally wouldn't do. Hot damn, the chemistry between these two was insane. I loved how they learned little bits about each other, Dax volunteering at the dog rescue and Lisa rising to his challenges, despite her penchant for high heels. He loved her brain and wit, she loved his compassion and talent. There was so much between these two to love. The story had a nice flow and I felt like I was sailing right along with them in it. Especially when the crap hit the fan. I just made a face at that one. Yeah, not happy. Dax for one thing Lisa didn't know totally blew himself out of the water and left Lisa there to save herself.
I really wasn't sure there would be any coming back from that one. Clearly you know Dax and Lisa belong together, but who knows what will become of this mess Dax made. Gotta read the book to find out.

The book is a must read and as usual Tawna never disappoints. I'd give it 10 stars.

I received an advanced copy from the Publishing company. It's women's erotica. Which I haven't read since 50 shades. But, the story line was cute. It was a very fast read. 1 day. If this is your genre, it's probably worth reading. Apparently, there are other books in the series. They can all be stand alone, or read in sequence. I'm not real sure what it would take to get another star from me. I didn't find anything wrong with it. I enjoyed that each chapter flipped back and forth between the 2 main characters. I think I just look for more content in a book, or over look for content. And since this was pretty surface level as to what type of book it was, I took at as just that. Definitely a fun little read if you want to dip your toes back into the women's erotica fantasy pool!

They say opposites attract & in Tawna Fenske’s story it’s definitely true. This hot, sexy romance will keep you fanning yourself as sexy as sin Dax teaches smart, sassy & sexy Lisa the way to the seedier side of life. Lisa is tired of the same old same old when it comes to her life & decides to make a test that with the help of Dax she just might pass. Tall, tatted & crazy hot Dax is nudging Lisa out of her comfort zone & each nudge is hotter than the one before. Lisa also takes Dax out of his comfort zone when the man who wants nothing to do with another snobby, judgemental, self involved woman starts to fall hard. I completely agree with the dedication at the beginning of the book, I’m glad she got to keep the alley scene.....definitely hot. Definitely recommend.

Another must read from Tawna that is an adventure in self discovery. Can a woman who always does the right thing, follows the straight line, go off the path and take a risk?

In love, never judge someone by their appearance and never assume you have them figured out. Love means taking risks and getting out of your comfort zone.

Tawna writes romance with humor and her love scenes are hot, sassy, and always memorable.

Don't miss this next release from a must read author and then dive into her backlist!

It's always a great feeling when you're reading a book and you find yourself liking it way more than you hoped to do it, and for me that was the case with Tawna Fenske's "The Test", it was such a great read; it's fun, it's sexy, it's romantic, and it really hooks you from the start. While this is the second book in a series, it can totally be read as a standalone.

After being ditched by her fiancé, Lisa Michaels starts questioning her life choices. She's always done the right things, and she might have come of as snobby and so she thinks that maybe she's been wrong so for one month she decides to do the contrary of what she would usually do, and that's how she will meet Dax.
Dax had a trouble childhood and it left a mark in him, he's a bit jaded, prone to judge and doesn't quite feel like he's gotten over his past but the more you know him the more you love him! He's also very sweet and funny,
Despite the differences between them, they had an amazing chemistry! And being together they each have to get past some of their preconceived notions, and insecurities. I was totally cheering for them and wishing I could find my own Dax.

The pacing is very fast, and I quite liked Tawna's writing. I really hope there'll be more books in the series!
The Test is absolutely recommendable!

I have been a big fan of Tawna Fenske after reading The List last year and could not jump on The Test fast enough. I thought this novel was so delicious and sexy! Lisa and Dax were so hot and scorching and their connection was fantastic. I was hooked from the first page. This novel was laugh out loud funny, panty-melting hot and with great banter. I could not get enough!

When recently jilted Lisa Michaels reflects on her life choices, she realizes that she might have made the wrong decisions in life. She might have had the best things in life but what if her instincts were steering her in the wrong direction? Maybe she needed to do the opposite of everything she would nornally do as the best clients, the "perfect stockbroker" fiancé and the finer things in life all left her feeling unfulfilled and unsatisfied. Enter Dax Kensington. One look at the crazy hot tattooed steelworker from the wrong side of the tracks and she realizes maybe she needs a fling with this badboy to "Test" out her theory. Hellllllo Fireworks!!

I thought this novel was fantastic. I enjoyed the way both Dax and Lisa looked past their preconceived notions about each other and embraced the other's true character. I enjoyed their scorching chemistry and how through this "Test" they both were able to see past their facades.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Entangled Publishing for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula

I really enjoyed The Test by Tawna Fenske. It was a great premise and a fun and sexy read.

LOVED this book! Lisa is a somewhat haughty interior designer who meets Dax, a guy from the wrong side of town. He agrees to introduce her to the other side of life and they begin with a one night stand that turns into The Test.

This novel made me smile and laugh out loud - all while pulling for Lisa and Dax and wanting them to get their HEA. This is a fun novel that is filled with plenty of sexiness that makes it a must read. Fans of the genre will want to put this one at the top of their TBR list. The author is on my must read authors' list.

4.5 Stars

This is a great book! It held my interest, made me laugh, and yes, even made my eyes leak fluid a bit.

I couldn’t give it that last half a star because of Dax. He was a bit to self-deprecating for my taste. Yeah, I get that it’s normal, most of us are on a daily basis. But he felt to morose to be any fun, even while he was supposedly having fun. I guess he just felt too into his own head.

Lisa was continuously a shocker! At times she felt a bit plastic but would turn right around and change that opinion.

I was able to enjoy Dax and Lisa even if I couldn’t fully connect with them the way I would’ve liked.

Grab it and enjoy!

I really loved this story. I enjoyed book 1 in this series SO MUCH, and this one was so great too. These characters are real, and flawed, and funny, and so lovable.

Lisa Michaels grew up in a well-to-do family, and she's always loved the finer things in life. She and one of her sisters have always been a bit snobbish, and her younger sister, Cassie (the heroine from book 1) never quite fit it with them. They made great strides in their relationship in book 1, and they grew especially close after Lisa was jilted at the altar by her jerk of an ex-fiance. Lisa has started to doubt her instincts when it comes to how she lives her life, so she devises The Test. Anything her instincts tell her to do, or any way she would normally handle a situation, she's going to stop and do the opposite of that. So, when she spies giant, sexy, tatted up Dax across the bar, she's ready to start testing her theory.

Dax Kensington is a bit of an enigma. He grew up poor, on the wrong side of the tracks. His mom bailed when he was small, so it was just his dad, brother, sister, and him. But then his dad died. And his sister OD'd. And his brother went to prison for robbery. And he was left all alone. He never went to college, but he's a great welder, and he invented a steel double-walled cup that has made him a millionaire. Though he can run with the fancy crowd now, he'll never feel like he belongs with them. When he meets Lisa out one night, and she propositions him, he decides to help her with her little test, even though he's not sure what to make of her. Is she a pretentious snob? Or is she just honestly trying to figure her life out, just like him, and everyone else?

Dax and Lisa's chemistry was smoking hot from the first conversation, and the author didn't skimp on the sexy times. They were very well done and exciting. Also, they were funny. I love when a couple is comfortable having actual fun together in bed, laughs and all. They really got to know each other during their time together, and I loved how they related to each other in so many different, and often surprising, ways. They had a few missteps along the way, but they really came to understand and appreciate each other, and their differences. It was a classic opposites attract story, and I loved their witty banter.

I enjoyed the glimpses we got of all the side characters here, especially the ones from the first book, which I loved so much. Lisa's sisters are a laugh riot, and their girls nights were so fun. They are all really there for each other in the clutch, and I love seeing good, strong relationships between women in the books I read.

I really loved how the main characters had some personal issues they needed to overcome before they could be happy together, and how they worked toward making that happen. I really enjoyed this book, and I hope we'll get more stories in this series! There are definitely some intriguing side characters who still need their stories told! I can't wait to see who's next!

Opposites attract big time when Lisa, interior designer to the rich, and Dax, rough and ready steelworker meet. Lisa is ready for something new so when she proposes a plan for a 30 day test to Dax he's on board. Lisa has 30 days to do the opposite of what she would normally do and Dax is just the man to help her take a walk on the wild side. Hot sweet romance!

Lisa Michaels knows how do entertain, cook, design and network to get clients for her interior design business. She’s sophisticated and perfectly turned out but is beginning to realise that’s not all its cracked up to be and maybe she should try another way. She starts to rebel against her view of how to behave by starting to do the opposite of her gut instinct, which is telling her she shouldn’t be considering hooking up with the muscled hulk she meets in the cocktail bar. This is the start of a 30 day pact to really test her limits with the gorgeous Dax who has plenty of complications of his own.
I love Tawna Fenske’s writing, her characters have real depth and tend to be a bit quirky and off the wall. I totally loved “The List”, didn’t think she could top it but I was wrong, I loved the chemistry between Lisa & Dax. Really enjoyed this book. Hope we get another one in the series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When Lisa meets Dax, she proposes him a Test, a no string affair wherein she will do exact opposite of her normal instinct. Dax agreed, he gets a chance to explore their intense chemistry so why not.
The test was an awesome read. Lisa and Dax share not just sizzling chemistry that lead to some hot sexy times, but they also enjoy talking and laughing with each other. It was a super sweet romance. And Dax, the tattooed, sexy, soft hearted guy just stole my heart.
A great read !

This was a quick, sweet read about an opposites-attract romance. I liked both the h and H, although there was something missing from the read for me. I just didn't connect with the characters like I usually do in a book. Overall, the writing was good, but just not for me.

This was a short, charming and steamy read. I loved Dax and loved the idea of doing the opposite of what clearly was not working out for you. Tawna Fenske had fallen off of my radar but I have already purchased book one of this series and will be reading other titles from her back-list.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fun second book following The List by Tawna Fenske!

There was more of the fun banter between the two characters, Dax and Lisa. Lisa, a snobby, uptight chic, who had been stood up at the alter...Dax, a hot, hard working man. I loved how Dax helped break Lisa out of her "norm" and helped her mark off things she would never, ever imagine herself doing. She definitely went outside the box with Dax. I didn't care for the way she had this "better than thou" attitude at times...and I wanted to smack her...but...LOL ... This definitely was a HOT book with some pretty HOT scenes!

Tawna....GREAT job, once again! I love your humor in your books!
