My first book by K.A. Linde and there is no way it will the last. I am HOOKED! As a fan of adult supernatural I am always in search of great plots (you know... they can be a bit too cheesy far too often) but this did not disappoint. I was intrigued from the very beginning. Yah, its a vampire story, but it is different and it will grab you and suck you in the whole way through.

The Blurb:

A startling new vision of paranormal romance: When a human ventures into the world of vampires—a decadent milieu of blood-bonds and betrayal—she discovers that not all is what it seems.

For Reyna Carpenter, giving up her body isn’t a choice. It’s survival.

In a civilization laid waste by poverty and desperation, Reyna accepts a high-paying position with the wealthy and hungry vampire elite. Her new job is as the live-in blood escort for the intimidating, demanding, and devilishly handsome Beckham Anderson. He’s everything she expected from a vampire, except for one thing—he won’t feed off her.

Reyna soon discovers that behind Beckham’s brooding, wicked façade lies a unique and complex man. And that, in a dark and divided world, she is more valuable than she ever would have believed.

For with each passing night, Reyna can’t shake the sensation that it’s Beckham who’s afraid of her.

OMG!!!! I would sell my soul for the next book. That cliffhanger is evil! I NEED to know what happens next.

Anyway... Now that that is out of the way I suppose we can talk about the book hey?

First of all, the plot is different. It is unexpected. It will keep you on your toes. And that is an art when writing on something (this case vampires) that has been written a million times before. The mixture of main stream vampire lore and new exciting twists and turns made this an attractive read. And if you don't like supernatural all that much, still give it a go. It will be a good read for those who love 'rich guy gets the poor girl' romances too, you know... billionaire romances, or bad boy romances. Seriously, what is not to like?

I'm blabbing. That is not usually me. You will all forgive me right? 😉

Carrying on...

The main characters were captivating.

Reyna is determined. She knows what she wants and what she needs and she is going for it. She is trying her best to make the best of a bad situation. It is admirable.

I can't say I liked her in the end. You can't tell someone you trust them and back down 5 minutes later. That is so shitty... but you will all have to read the book to find out what exactly she did...

Now let's talk about hot-broody-moody-fabulous-sexy-amazing-caring-hard to read-strong-resilient (and I can keep on going) Beckham! LOVED him! Can I have one of him please? How do you bring a character to life? I need one of those magic tricks... If any of you figure out, please let me know!

He was a hard character to read at first but as Reyna slowly but surely got under his skin we found out more and more about him. There were so many different layers to his personality.

The romance was a highlight for me because there was almost none. I know I know... that makes no sense. Let me explain: as they got to know each other, discover what makes the other 'tick' so to say their attraction became more and more evident but it is not till towards the end that both of them admit the extend of their feelings. We can guess it, we can see it coming, but it is never overpowering. This is a supernatural book with just the right amount of romance.

All in all, a fantastic read.

Now... dear author, or publisher, or gods of the brokenhearted readers... GIVE ME THE NEXT BOOK!!!

Go Read Sunnies 🌞

Certainly a unique and interesting paranormal romance. Awesome take on the vampire genre. Reyna makes a hard choice but in turn meets Beckham. Good solid plot and I totally enjoyed it.

I love K.A. Linde's books and always get lost in her books, but unfortunately I just had no feelings for this one. I loved the idea behind it, but I hated the main female character. There was no connection whatsoever and I found her to be a bit childish at times. It ruined the book for me to be honest. Makes me sad because I love Vampire novels and like I said, this one has a great plot, but I just could not find one thing to like about Reyna.

This was well written, great concept with characters that I truly was interested in. It was an extremely even read that I wish was conveyed the dangers and sexual tension in an exciting way. This is a cliffhanger so maybe book 2 will convey things differently if not I will still read it since I really enjoyed the characters.

I was given an arc for my honest opinion.

Welcome to the world with rich vampires and the poorest of poor humans just trying to get by. And one way for humans to make any kind of money is to sell yourself (blood) to the vampires and becoming a blood whore.
This is story has a quick “draw you in” start and slows a little until the cliffhangers of endings. Ms. Linde’s stories alway have a way of making you feel as anxious as her characters.
I’m very intrigued to see were this series goes.

I tried with this book , I really did I didn't DNF, but I still didn;t understand this story or the characters... Beckham was a bad version of Edward Cullen and Reyna a Bella one.. I can't even comprehend what I read

WOW I absolutely love paranormal reads, especially vampires and Beckham & Reyna’s Story I couldn’t put down. Once I started reading I couldn’t stop. I needed to know what was going too happen, how much more could Beckham stay away from Reyna and the ended wow. Beckham & Reyna have an undeniable connection but when secrets are exposed will Reyna leave Beckham to return to her other life? You will want to hate Beckham but he will definitely change your mind. Absolutely an amazing 5 Star read that you must one-click if you absolutely love vamp reads. This was my first book by K.A and it will not be my last.

Omg omg, this is a home freaking run! Beckham and Reyna are way to intense. Once i started reading this book i could not put it. And the cliffhanger at the end was OMG! Out of this world. You will not be let down in this book. If you enjoy paranormal romance books with the destitution feeling you get when you read the hunger games then this is the book for you.

Wow!!! I went into this book completely blind, and to top it off I have never read a vampire book in my life. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I found this to be a quick and engaging read with a mysterious feel to it. There were a lot of questions I had throughout the book that I wanted answers to, and therefore could not put the book down. I will be anxiously awaiting book 2 to see what happens next!

3.0-3.5

I really liked the world that K.A. Linde created in Blood Type. Very unique dystopian style world where the vampires have all the wealth and the humans are almost like slaves. The divide of the have and have not's between vampires and humans.

The characters, Reyna (human) and Beckham (vampire), were a little annoying. Their interactions and dialogue seemed stiff. Beckham was cold and standoffish. (view spoiler) . Reyna often seemed like a brat rather than a poor girl seeing the world for the first time. And her desire for him when he was so standoffish to her was confusing.

I really can't say enough about this futuristic vampire world. Its like nothing I've read and I've read quite a few vampire books. That in itself made this book worth reading.

This book wasn’t my type....

Sorry for the shameless pun.

This is a world where the vampires are out and about and are extremely rich. The humans are poor and live in shambles and work in workhouses. Reyna our main character, is a poor girl who lives off her brothers. She wants to chip in and help out, so she volunteers to work for Visage, the blood bank for vampires.

The heroine makes a novel, and I just didn’t care for Reyna. She embodies a lot of tropes that are popular in ya and romance that I don’t care for. Blood donors have a bad reputation and are known as blood whores. Reyna has a lot of reservations about this before she signs up to work. She is very judgmental to people who work there, and yet she works there.

Her blood is special, of course, and smells extra good to vampires. She is picked to live with a vampire and be his personal supply of blood.

“Beckham was an enigma wrapped in a mystery.”

Beckham buys Reyna fancy clothes and shoes, for which she isn’t grateful. He buys her a phone, that she doesn’t know how to use. He also doesn’t drink from her. Why? For the sake of the plot? Who knows.

“She couldn’t believe she was letting him order her around and dress her as if she were a child, but how could she say no? “
Indeed....

It’s supposed to show how poor Reyna’s life and world was, but it was really annoying how little Reyna knew.

“She wondered who was calling him so early. Then again, she has never even had a phone call, so what did she know?”

So it wasn’t for me. But I think it may be for someone who likes traditional PNR with a passive heroine and secretive alpha male hero.

This is a start of a series, so the story will continue in book two.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this arc.

Holy! SHITAKI MUSHROOMS! I NEED MORE! this story started off a bit slow but when it kicked off boy did it EVER! I Need more of this series! I'm hooked! This story is about Beckham and Renya. This is a new take on vampires blood consumption. Renya is broke barely living and goes to Visage to get enrolled in a program that makes her a blood donor to vampires. She gets put into a pilot program that keeps her permanently with one vampire. And this is how we meet Beckham, he is a broody, deep man that you find out pretty quickly that isn't like most vampires. He basically buys Renya moves her into his home, gives her free access to all his riches and thrusts her completely into his world. While not really telling her much of anything a the sudden Renya is supposed to be his meal on tap, live with him, wear fancy clothing basically a fairy tale for a girl like her, but quickly she begins to realize this is no fairy tale. Soon the plot thickens and the sexual tension begins to pile up and Beckham himself starts reveal parts of himself that doesn't make sense. This story is the beginning of a series that I will definitely continue to read I need to know how everything plays out. I'm highly invested in this series and will be stalking the author waiting for more!

ARC generously provided by publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have read several of KA Linde's books and she usually always gets me hooked so I was excited to start this one bc it was the first one dealing in "fantasy". I will say this one did not disappoint and I cannot wait to finish the series with the next one, unfortunately there is quite a cliff hanger and I am going to have to wait quite a while before the next one is released.

Reyna Carpenter is doing the one thing she never thought she would, but she now has no other choice and she refuses to see her brothers suffer because of her. She has accepted a position with the the largest employer of the time, being a blood supply for a vampire. However Reyna is not prepared to be entered into the new program that it permenant and paired with an extremely wealthy and handsome Beckham Anderson, who seems to want nothing to do with her.

Soon Reyna wants more from "Beck" however he still keeps her at a distance except for the times when he drops his shields and gives into the pull of Reyna. However REyna is so confused as to her purpose and her attraction to Beck that it causes her to do some irresponsible things. However Beck always seems to be there to save her. Now they must figure out how they fit together and how they can change the world.

This book is extremely compelling. You have to love Beck and as secrets are revealed you will not be able to put the book down. The ending will have you cursing having to wait for the nex

Thank you to Netgalley for an ARC of this book.

The synopsis interested me when I was out on Netgalley, but I never in my dreams imagined the book I got!! I saw vampires and ever since the obsession a few years back it's hard to find a good vampire book now. This one is a blend of the paranormal vampire lore we all love and the sexy billionaire powerful man romance that we all covet. You could not have asked for better.

The author creates a world where vampires seem to rule it, as they have all the power. Picture a post-1929 Stock Market crash world but in modern times. Their economy dropped and only humans with actual prestige and education seem to be making a life. A college education will get one noticed for a job in this world. But to get that degree one needs money, therefore a job... See the cycle? The unlucky humans (and there's a lot of them) are stuck in the slums. Those like Little One Reyna Carpenter turn to being a blood escort through the vampire company that is trying to create a balance between hungry vampires and poor humans, also ensuring no vamps turn into monsters, if they have a correct blood type to drink from. But she's of course a special blood type, a O negative, so she's placed into a program and given to a specific powerful vampire to be his forever.

I liked Reyna but I didn't love her. I did love her motives for all this--she turned to this life to provide for her brothers in the harsh world so they don't have to work as much. She puts up with a lot through the book, with the life and with Beckham, and she's strong for it. The amount of angst and heartbreak she experiences with him is admirable. There were times her dialogue wasn't fully there, or was a little annoying that I did not like. I mean, I still rate the book 5 stars, so I guess it wasn't that bad. Definitely did not overshadow my feelings for the rest of the book. Although I flip flopped on my feelings about her, I was so frustrated at the end of the book when she and him finally have sex and he finally bites her. He took a sip and backed off knowing his own control. She is the one who insisted on continuing and then freaks out when he doesn't stop because he is "killing" her, and then runs away. Ugh! Just stop being like that. You agreed to this--be understanding of what is occurring. He lost control. If you don't want that, then I don't know...listen to him when he insists to stop drinking.

Beckham on the other hand I loved. I didn't at first; he was a jerk, but it did fit his character: strong, resilient, powerful, etc. One of the thrills of the novel was being able to unwrap his character more and more. There's so much underneath him. So if you read this and are thinking that 's a boring, mundane, typical powerful male protagonist...think again. He's deeper than that. While he acted like he hated her at first and didn't want her there, I loved watching her break down his walls bit by bit to the point that he wanted to be protective of her, more than just because she cost him a lot; and wanted to care for her, despite all the warning signs.

What I liked about their romance that it was nearly non-existent till the end. There were moments, and there was attraction for sure, but no feelings were spoken, no truths admitted, until the end. So in their situations, their feelings built bit by bit and it was wonderful to witness. I didn't like the barrier in their romance of course: Penelope. Omg I hated her so much. It was sad though, because there were times that Beckham really did care about her so I hated reading that. Or in the sex club when Reyna and Beckham had their moment, and the next second he is biting Penelope. Did he really have to be that heartless to Reyna?

The synopsis leaves it at being a vampire romance but there is actually quite a lot of dystopia and politics here. I was surprised when I read the book, but happy about it too. Under the guise of vampire and human trying to make it work, we're introduced to the human and vampire underground systems, the corruption of the governments, and ELLE, the uprising against all of this.

The ending took me by surprise twice. First with the truth about Beckham and Penelope and everything in Beckham's life. I was surprised by aspects for sure, but the main thing I guessed earlier on. It explains a lot of how he was acting in general and toward her. And then second when we learn about Emmett and Reyna...just after she was ready to forgive and go back to Beckham!! Again, I wish I saw this sooner but it makes so much sense and I am so thrilled with the author that she added the final twist. Her blood smelling extra amazing to Beckham and all the other vampires I was passing off as a Twilight cliche the author was using. I wasn't a fan of this aspect but that's what I assumed. So for this twist to be tossed in right at the end--both surprises actually--brought my review from a 4 to 5 star.

I loved this book so much. I couldn't put it down. Cheering for Beckham and Reyna eclipsed my day, but then also feeling and worrying for her. I hope Netgalley carries the next two because I don't think I can wait all the way until release day for these books. I need to know what happens next!!!

Thank you to Netgalley again and I can't wait to see where Reyna and Beckham take us next.

I read this book at the perfect time. Several days prior to starting I felt the urge to read a paranormal book. I used to read them a lot but have ventured into other genres. I'm also a huge fan of Ms. Linde's but had only read her romance novels so this was meant to be.

Blood Type was so far beyond my expectations! Ms. Linde has weaved a story that is utterly compelling, intriguing & vivid beyond your wildest imaginations.

I could literally visualize this story in my mind's eye as I read it. It is so descriptive without being redundant. The story of Reyna and Beckham will pull you in as you lose yourself in their world.

Now Blood Type is a continuous story and ends on a cliffhanger. It will continue in Blood Match and Blood Cure both due out this summer.

5 Little One stars

It's been a while since I've read a vampire read and I gotta say, I got all the feels with this paranormal romance and I'm eager to see where it goes from here. I had the pleasure to congratulate Mrs. Linde after reading this so I know this will be a trilogy. Eek! Definitely a series I can't wait to continue. I don't want to give anything away and the logistics of the story can be read in the synopsis but I love the view inside the vampire world and I the uniqueness of how humans deal with the predators and visa versa. Fascinating read.

I freaking LOVED reading this book! It took a minute to really get into it, but once I did I could hardly put it down!

Reyna and Beckham are the best and I love her take no shit attitude mixed with his steely resolve. It's great, and when things FINALLY get steamy...WOOHOO...it's fantastic! I can't wait to read books 2 and 3. As well as other books by K.A. Linde, since this was my first and she seems to be a fantastic writer! The world she creates in Blood Type is fascinating and makes me wonder what other stories she has created.

I have been a vampire watcher since I was a teenager and Dark Shadows hit the TV. Since that time I have read countless books on the subject and enjoyed other current TV offerings. So.. I can say with fang-objectivity that Blood Type is an original tasty drink. Lowly but independent Reyna sees no other option but to offer herself as a blood donor for a monetary return. But of course new rules to the game are not revealed until there is no turning back. Instead of a temporary assignment all placements are permanent. Beckham is a dark dangerous and rich vampire who takes possession of Reyna. Much action and politics lend itself in Blood Type. Linde leaves her amazing characters on a cliff hanger but with the high caliper of this novel stars are not deducted. A copy of this book was supplied byRandom House Publishing Group - Loveswept via Netgalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion."
