I don't read a lot of paranormal books, but I'm a huge fan of this author so I wanted to give it a shot. I thought the story was definitely entertaining. It was very Twilight meets Divergent or the Hunger Games. Becks intrigued me from the beginning. I had a hard time getting into the story, but once I was in, the story sucked me in. The writing in this other world makes you believe that you are in this world of vampires and humans. You don't know who can be trusted and who can't be. To me, the only draw back was I found Reyna annoying at times. I found her constant running away from things a little different from what I'd expect from a strong female heroine. I really enjoyed book 1 of the story though and there is a big cliffy so I hope book 2 gets here soon!

In the beginning of the book I felt certain it was going to be a 4 star read for me: I liked that the hero was cold, standoffish, and a sexy billionaire vampire - heehee. I liked the plot device that put these two together, and the politics of the world and Visage's place in it. (Visage is the vampire-owned company both the main character's work for.) I continued to like the hero all the way through, and I also liked the Pretty Woman-esque aspects of unlimited funds, clothes, fancy-dress ball and other "events", as well as the tortured "I won't bite you/don't want you" behavior of the hero. But as the book went on I got more and more tired of the heroine, so much so that toward the end of the book I no longer wanted to read it. She exhibited almost bratty, childlike behavior - constantly putting herself in danger despite continual warnings AND experiences that scared her SO BAD but then she learned nothing from them and just did it again. She had zero self-control and despite all of the consequences kept opening her mouth and speaking up when she shouldn't. I also love a girl being rescued by a big, strong man but throughout the book she was only ever rescued by someone: her brothers, Beckham or even Everett. Additionally, I enjoyed several of the times Beckham and Reyna were together on page but it didn't seem like they had much interaction at all, spending most of the time apart or not talking to each other, so I never felt like I understood why they had such strong feelings for each other. There are some things that may be explained in further books in the series but based on the way I felt in the latter half of this book I don't think I want to continue - I loved Beckham (even though what is "revealed" at the end is seen from miles away) but the heroine just killed my enjoyment of this book.

This is a cool new world of vampires!! As paranormal fan its refreshing to get something different for a change. I really liked it! Kudos to K.A. Linde for such an interesting and well imagined story.
Reyna and Beckman just simmer on the fire like a slow cooked stew. I love that they didn't just jump right in to more with each other! It makes you want it more!
I hate but I love that I have to wait for Book 2 as I secretly enjoy a good cliffhanger.

It pains me to give a negative review to this author because I have loved other books of hers, but Blood Type just didn't work for me. I almost DNFed numerous times. My main problem was Reina. She started off as a strong character, taking charge of her family's future despite the personal cost. She quickly became whiney and childish. She went on and on about how scary "Becs" was, yet purposely disobeyed, "forgot" herself, pushed and questioned him, and came up with a nickname he hated. She's scared for him to bite her, then complains she was rejected when he doesn't. Not for me, won't be reading the next one.

I've wanted to read this book since I first heard that Ms. Linde was writing a paranormal romance. Seriously, the angst queen taking us to a different world!! I can’t think of anything more intriguing and possibly heart-breaking.

I love a good vampire book. It’s been forever since I’ve read one. I am so happy that Ms. Linde took to chance on writing a PNR because she nailed it! She takes her ability to write an angsty, ripe your heart out romances to a new level in Blood Type.

This book had everything I was looking for and more! The characters and the story line are addicting. Mr. Beckham Anderson is EVERYTHING. Do I really need to say more? He’s tall dark and handsome and oh so frustrating! Reyna Carpenter is a firecracker, her need for information gets her in more trouble. Man, I love a female with a brain!

This is book one in a trilogy so be prepared to wait. But I promise that it will be worth it!

When I saw that this book was up for review on NetGalley, I almost passed it by. But something about the blurb caught my attention and made me look twice. I thought it was going to be your typical Twilight knockoff. Not only am I glad that I requested (and got) the book, I am glad that my assumption was so wrong. This book is nothing like the Twilight knockoff. NOTHING like it. So don’t expect a book like that. Expect something that is much darker and grittier. These vampires don’t glitter.

Blood Type takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. Vampires came out to the humans years before, sending the world into a tailspin. After the dust settled, the vampires had taken over the world. People were left fighting for food, shelter, and jobs. Reyna grew up during that time and is struggling to survive in the new world the vampires created. Her way out is to become a blood escort. Someone who lets the vampires feed off of her in exchange for money. But, she gets chosen to test out a new role. A role as a live-in escort. Her sponsor is the VP of the escort company, Beckham Anderson. As heat and lust sparks between Beckham and Reyna, she can’t feel that there is something off. Something that she doesn’t know about. Something that could make or break her world if she finds out.

Like I mentioned above, this book was gritty. It was not written to make you think that vampires where nice people who happened to want to drink your blood. Nope, these vampires were evil. Even if they had good intentions, like Beckham. I loved it!!! It was a refreshing read and different from other vampire books. I was not bored reading it.

I felt bad for Reyna. She tried everything in her power to get out of where she was staying. The escort service was her last resort. She didn’t want to be known as a blood whore. She was ashamed of it. I did get a laugh out of her wardrobe and her reaction to it. What was running through my head was Julia Roberts wardrobe before Richard Greer picked her up in Pretty Woman. Except Reyna had the opposite reaction.

I couldn’t get a feel on Beckham until almost the end of the book. Normally, that bothers me but in this case, it only added to how much I like the book. He is a vampire. I shouldn’t be able to read him like a book. I should have to work, like Reyna did, to see what he was like underneath. It wasn’t until the bombing that I even began to understand him. I loved it!!!

The sexual tension in Blood Type was through the roof. Reyna and Beckham do not actually have sex until towards the end of the book. I thought that the author did a great job keeping the sexual tension up until then. When they finally had sex, it was explosive. I swear my Kindle’s screen fogged up a few times.

The end of the book was insane. Not going to get into it, but I was not expecting what happened. There is a cliffhanger. I don’t like cliffhangers but this one made me eager to read book 2.

What I liked about Blood Type:

A) Vampires were what I thought they should be. Not glittery freaks.

B) Reyna and Beckham’s sexual tension

C) The plotline

What I dislike about Blood Type:

A) Reyna being forced into being a blood escort

B) The other live in blood escorts. They annoyed me

C) The judgey peeps that Reyna met

I would give Blood Type a rating of Adult. There is explicit sex, explicit violence, and language. This is a book that no one under the age of 21 should be reading.

I wouldn’t give this book any trigger warnings.

I would recommend Blood Type to family and friends. I would give a warning about the sex, violence, and language. This is a book that I would reread. This is also a series that I am going to enjoy reading.

4.5 "omg - you left me hanging" Stars.

From the first page of this book, I couldn't stop reading, hours upon hours of reading. Reyna is strong, loving, caring and will do anything, seriously anything, to help her brothers. Living in a some might say a dystopian world, a world and government essentially ruled by Vampires she's desperate to help. She's signed up to be a "donor" for Visage but is given the opportunity to have a permanent sponsor. She will make twice as much money as she thought, donating Blood to Beckham, a higher up at Visage.

Beckham isn't the most welcoming man, but he has his moments of sweetness with Reyna. Reyna finds herself in precarious situations (a lot) and Beck is the one who gets her out of the dangerous situations, he is concerned for her safety, but he's also the man whose company is ruling the world, he's often dismissive to Reya which confused her immensely. Reyna often finds herself wanting to hate him, but just can't. Everything is not what it always seems.

For the PNR reading, this book is you can sink your teeth right into (pun intended) and for my non-PNR readers - this book, just might be the one to change your mind forever. There is suspense, angst (of course), so hotness (of course), hot vampires, bad ass heroine and honesty within these pages that you will also be hooked the moment you begin.

Beware - there is a book two (and three), so there is a bit of a cliffhanger, but it's going to be so worth the wait!

Ok - So I have said this a few times when writing reviews for PNR books - I DON'T READ PNR...but I think I need to officially abandon that statement forever.

I just finished this book, and I couldn't wait to rush on here to spread the word about it! This book was fantastic!! KA Linde has a way with words. She had me sympathizing with Beckham from the get go. It was a little predictable, but I still cannot wait for the next installment in this strange, yet exciting dystopian paranormal world.

The end came too quick. I was so drawn in by the characters, conflict and plot that I couldn't put the book down.

Two words. Mind. Blown. It is really hard to articulate how this book hit me. It has honestly taken me days to actually write my review. The concept alone is something of sheer brilliance that I really could not put this book down. I devoured it. Then when the end came, I was devastated. I need the next one. Like stat!
I adore Reyna’s character. She is a fighter. She wants to help her family to survive and does so by the only way she knows how at the moment. The whole dystopian vibe of this was amazing. The descriptiveness that Linde has is beyond amazing. You really get the feel of seeing what she is writing and conveying. There were so many unique twists and turns that I was devouring it as fast as I could. Then you have Beckham. Brooding. Almost unapproachable. But there is just something about how protective he is of Reyna and how he acts around her. Their passion builds so much in this story. Then with all the events that occur and how it affects all of them, leaves your mind blown and jaw on the the floor!
Overall, this is one read you do NOT want to miss this year. It is very much going to be one of my top books of 2018. Linde has a brilliant mind and just a beautiful way with words that you cannot help but get wrapped up in the world she creates. Bring on book two. I need it. Like now!

Thoughts: So I’m going to draw attention to the first line of the blurb for this book – ‘startling new vision of paranormal romance’ – which is pretty damn accurate. Linde has managed to pull out a series that is completely different, original, and –most of all – captivating. I was caught up and invested in this story from the beginning. You never know what is going to happen next, and that keeps you on your toes as a reader. It does focus more on the paranormal, less on the romance part, but mostly be forewarned – it ends on a definite cliffhanger, one that just leaves you hanging and desperate to know where the story leads. Definitely intriguing!

I got to admit I was going crazy over the up and down dynamic between Beckham and Reyna. Especially when Reyna kept giving him so many chances regarding Penelope. I wanted to scream in frustration. Until I realized until the end that there was a higher plan in motion. I was also surprised by Everett's betrayal..dying to see what happens next. I voluntarily read this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

The first book in the Blood Type series introduces us to a world where vampires and humans live amongst each other. The concept of the series is how the vampires are slowly taking over society one government official at a time, all under the pretense that vampires will be sustained by humans Registering their blood type to find their vampire march. The concept/idea was very interesting but a bit tricky to follow.
Beckham is second in command in the Visage Corporation. Visage is the company that appears to be using humans for their goals-including taking over the world one city at a time. Beckham is massive, strong, and has quite the killer reputation. He meets his new subject, Reyna, who will be his “permanent,” which is a newer program where a human will like with a subject indefinitely. Becks, as Reyna calls him, appears to be playing by the rules of Visage-or is he?
Reyna’s parents are gone, and she’s left with her brothers, in this crappy, debilitated apartment, while they bust their butts trying to make ends meet. Her brothers are extremely protective and don’t want Reyna to worry about finances, but that easier said than done. Reyna takes a job at. Usage as a donor, which ultimately lands her a permanent position with Beckham.
There’s an instant attraction that at least Reyna is willing to admit. Becks treats her as an employee, but not as she’s supposed to be-which is his food source.
They click, but then don’t. I found it difficult to visualize what Reyna and Becks looked like, which made it difficult to connect with the characters. The concept of the story is solid-I really liked it. I’d definitely want to see where things lead, and there’s a bit of a twist at the end.

Good story about the vampire's existence influence the societies while the human government still in control. Young naive girl willing to do whatever it takes to help her family by working with the powerful vampire company, Visage, against their better judgement. Little bit slow in characters' development though

This was a little different than your average vampire book. The world has collapsed and vampires are basically in control. However there are two types...ones who want to control and ones who want balance.

There are systems in place for humans to be tested to be matched with the right vampire. When they arent... well it isn't pretty. But for Becks and Reyna things are a lot more than sharing blood.

It's a deadly cliffhanger and will leave you wanting more. I enjoyed it and can't wait for more.

A PNR from the woman who brought us the avoiding series!!!????
Its near impossible to switch genres so fluidly and easily as this book was done. It does not read like any of her other works.. which I think is her strength in this novel. This feels like a new author, a new voice a new story.
This is a paranormal book for people unsure if they would enjoy the genre. This book is filled with suspense, questions, plot twists and a romantic vibe.
At the end of the book.. my questions have questions! .. how refreshing a sentence.

This book is a telling of vampires rising to the top of humanity by using blood donors to supply them with blood. The new wave of this donor system is a live in blood supply like a pet. And I love the main characters and side characters. Everyone seems to really open up and develop as the story continues. Some develop into people you for sure hate and some you are unsure of their end character and end game. This is a real case of Who is Who, who can you trust.. and who dun it!

This is my first read by K.A. Linde and definitely will not be my last- I need more Beckham and Reyna.

What a fabulous concept the author has here! Blood donors to vampires but ran by a corporation, Visage.

Desperate to get her family out of a financial hole, Reyna signs up and finds herself blood escort to Beckham, VP of Visage.

30% in and I had so many questions, what was his deal? Was something sinister going on? Why did I suddenly think of Pretty Woman when Reyna called him Becks? My random thoughts scare me sometimes too!

Thrust into a world she wasnt born into, I really felt for Reyna. And that dark, broody Beckham is a tease but oh so delish!

There was action and drama and it was a really enjoyable read. However there was 1 part that felt rushed and maybe a bit eye rolly, maybe it was just me, I don't know.

But saying that, I can't wait for part 2 after that bombshell of an ending!
