Really enjoyed this book. The world Linde created is fascinating. Reyna is a fully realized character and learning about Beckham over the course of the novel was compelling and made the book very hard to put down. Can't wait to read the next two installments.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE THIS AUTHOR! SHE'S ONE OF MY FAVORITES. I was so excited when I found out I got to review one of her books beforehand.

Oh My God! That was a wild ride. A dystopian romance with suspense and mystery thrown in. I would have liked a bit more of background information on this new world.

Let's talk characters:
Hero/antihero: I wanted to squeeze Beckham's neck so many times. He's frustrating, to the max.
Heroine: I loved the heroine. She tried her best with the hand she was dealt with.

Supporting characters: nothing to write home about.

All in all, I stayed up until 5 am to finish this book; it was captivating.

Ahhhh I need the next book!!
Beckham and Reyna are polar opposites. she’s human and he’s a vampire.

The storyline is set up in a dystopian city, where Vampires rule and are the ones pulling the strings when it comes to government. And humans are blood bags for said vampires.

This story was a bit predictable, and I was getting some hints of something big coming but that ending! It’s a huge cliffhanger. Overall and great read!

I feel like at this point vampires are written about a lot. Some are done really well and some are overdone and cliche. Linde manages to give a semi fresh and exciting look at the vampire / human relationship during what might be considered, but isn't necessarily, a post-apocalyptic / major economic downfall in the world. Now humans are living in slums and planning a rebellion and the vampires are slowly taking over... I was hoping for something completely different and was not disappointed.

Some who are desperate, like Reyna-our heroine- find themselves in the employ of VISAGE a vampire run company that pairs vampires with human blood donors. Reyna signs up to be part of a new program that pairs her permanently with a vampire or until one of them break the agreement. Her pairing leaves her stuck with the infuriatingly silent and extremely handsome and frustrating Beckham who is one of the top Vampires of Visage.

There are of course hints at a love triangle, a very well done antagonistic and wonderful world building. Some suspense and mystery to keep us even more interested.

I should have, but I did not expect the slow burn, and the mixed feelings from both characters. Lindy is known very well for writing fabulous characters that you just want to wring their neck because they're so frustrating but you keep reading because the story is just so fantastic and you have to know how it ends.

I did start to put things together at about 75-80%. Things were starting to click and make more sense. I was beinning to worry when I hit 85% because, how in the world was she going to wrap this major issue up?

Unfortunately for us readers this one ends in a major cliffhanger which requires us to wait for the next book. This doesn't necessarily bother me though, I'm excited and curious to see how Linde pulls book 2 together, which I will most definitely read.

Wow, what a change! This is just my second book by K.A. Linde and boy what a difference a new book makes. I am hooked on her "Inferno" series and while waiting I saw Blood Type and decided to give it a chance. I'm glad I did. This is not your typical vampire tale and believe me, it's good. I must warn you though...there's a cliff hanger so now I am waiting.

Just wow and this is only book one people. I love a amazing Vampire book when I can get my hands on it. And let me tell you I'm a little obsessed with this one. I love the different take on Vampire and Human relationships. Reyna is strong and surviving the best she can. I love her sass and endless questions. She may have started off afraid on this venture but let me tell you she is one strong cookie dealing with a hot Alpha Vampire in Beckham. And speaking of Beckham, he is hot and yet makes me so frustrating. And you may see why once you read Blood Type. I love the cat and mouse game, the give and take and the pull between Beckham and Reyna. You can just see the chemistry and it leaves you wondering why such a fight. But once everything unfolds just wait for it. Seriously the twist an turns you are taken through until the end will leave you yelling I need the next one now please. I loved Blood Type. Got bitten and sucked right in from the very beginning.

The perfect PNR that will leave you craving for more. K.A. Linde slayed this book. From start to finish I was completely lost in the story and love the cliffhanger ending. I was on the edge of my seat and I can't wait to see what direction the next book takes. There is something special about this series I can feel it. I was drawn into the story immediately and loved how the plot of the story unfolded. This series is like the perfect a mix of the Black Dagger Brotherhood and The Strain. I love how easily I fell in love with this book. K.A. Linde has such incredible talent to be able to switch genres and make it seem effortless. This is a series that you won't want to miss I would suggest picking up a copy of this book as soon as it becomes available.
I received a copy from NetGalley for an honest review.

Beckham sure knows how to make a girl feel special, “I won’t have anyone threatening you. You are very valuable.” Beckham's lady sure knows how to drive him bonkers, "his eyes crawled her body again, and she noticed a slight tremor in his hand. “I need a drink,” he said." I liked this book, a I'm eager for the next one in this series, a I'm dying to know what's going to happen.

"This man made her want to run as fast and as far away from him as possible. This man was a thing of nightmares."

"All that was before her was Beckham. A predator luring his prey. And she was trapped. As thoroughly as a rabbit in a snare."

"Sweet. Tempting. Addicting. He was the real deal. The perfect package."

OMG! Looks like I may have found my next paranormal fix! Blood Type was everything that I never knew I needed. It was sexy, seductive and completely alluring. Reyna and Beckham's story had me utterly captivated and furiously devouring the pages. I had so many questions and was desperate for all the answers.

Blood Type is fast paced and a totally refreshing paranormal romance. The plot is fascinating and you can't help but get lost in the story that this author has written. I fell in love with the characters instantly and couldn't wait to discover more about them. I wasn't sure who was on the up and up or who could really be trusted. Add in a sexy, alpha vampire that has more to him than meets the eyes and well...let's just say all bets are off. Blood Type is going to take you for one crazy and thrilling ride. All I can say is you better hold on because things are about to be crazy.

Blood Type took me by surprise in the best possible way. It was refreshing and intriguing. And I just loved the way the story unfolded. I couldn't get enough of the characters and their story. From sex to intrigue to shocking twists and ending that will just leave you begging for more, this book hit all the marks. I think this series is off to one heck of a start and I for one can not wait to get my greedy hands on the next book in this series. The countdown begins now....

I haven't read a paranormal romance that "spoke" to me in a long time but K.A. Linde changed this with Blood Type. Overall, I was engrossed in this story. I didn't want to stop reading it and I didn't want it to end. The cliffhanger in the end doesn't help with these feelings, but it does leave me feeling excited for the next installment that I know I am going to devour once it's released.

If you are a fan of paranormal romance or even the works of K.A. Linde then this is a must read for you!

I received a copy of Blood Type by K.A. Linde from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was intrigued by the summary as I generally enjoy paranormal romances, and really wanted to like this novel, but the storyline could have been pulled together better and the characters better fleshed out (not so flat).

I didn't really like Blood Type. The writing, storyline, and characters all bothered me, yet I was compelled to finish it. I'm not sure I'd read the next two in the series, but I'm curious enough to hunt down spoilers once the last book is released.

I loved this book, like from page one I was 100% hooked
This story was not what I usually read. But I love Kyla's writing. I was glad to have read it. This story really touched me in my heart. I admire Reyna A LOT!!!! She is poor and lives in a hole in the wall apartment with her brothers, Poor thing wants to help with money. BUT she cant find a job SO she decides to become an escort, BUT it's not what you think. If you want to know I would highly suggest you read the book

Paranormal reads are my favorite type of books so when I read the blurb to this book I knew I had to read it. I went into this story with an open mind and no expectations. I did not want to compare this book to other paranormal books and I'm glad I didn't because there is no other book quite like this one. I have to be honest though. This story started off slow, but I'm glad I stuck with it because it definitely picked up. The suspense within this story was EVERYTHING! I absolutely loved the back and forth banter between Reyna and Beckham. I had quite a few laughs at their antics and at the same time I wanted to slap some sense into both of them. This story had so many twists and turns and the end of it left me speechless. Characters I thought were trustworthy became enemies and enemies became friends. This story ended with a HUGE cliffhanger and I can't wait to read what happens next. I wasn't ready for it to end but I definitely look forward to reading the next book in this series. I recommend this book to all paranormal lovers, but just know that yes the story starts off slow but stick with it because it does get better and this is a story worth reading.

Blood Type by K.A. Linde
Book One of the Blood Type series
Publisher: Loveswept
Publication Date: April 24, 2018
Rating: 4 stars
Source: eARC from NetGalley

Summary (from Goodreads):

A startling new vision of paranormal romance: When a human ventures into the world of vampires—a decadent milieu of blood-bonds and betrayal—she discovers that not all is what it seems.

For Reyna Carpenter, giving up her body isn’t a choice. It’s survival.

In a civilization laid waste by poverty and desperation, Reyna accepts a high-paying position with the wealthy and hungry vampire elite. Her new job is as the live-in blood escort for the intimidating, demanding, and devilishly handsome Beckham Anderson. He’s everything she expected from a vampire, except for one thing—he won’t feed off her.

Reyna soon discovers that behind Beckham’s brooding, wicked façade lies a unique and complex man. And that, in a dark and divided world, she is more valuable than she ever would have believed.

For with each passing night, Reyna can’t shake the sensation that it’s Beckham who’s afraid of her.

Note: Reyna and Beckham’s story continues in Blood Match.

What I Liked:

Vampire romance stories are BACK and I am so excited! For the last few years, I've been wanting to read some adult PNR novels that are vampire-focused, and well-written. It has been a while since the vampire craze, so when I started to see some pop up recently, I figured it was safe. I read Megan Erickson's Blood Guard and really enjoyed it, and when I saw this book on NetGalley, under the same publisher as Blood Guard, I knew I wanted to read it. I've not read any of K.A. Linde's books but I've heard such great things about them. I am so happy to say that I enjoyed Blood Type, and I am definitely going to be continuing the series as soon as possible. I don't usually read continuation series in adult romance (companion series only!) but I bit the bullet with this one and I have no regrets.

This story takes place in a world of desperation and violence. Humans are struggling to find work, to feed themselves, to stay alive. Vampires either want to drain them, or coexist in peace. Reyna Carpenter has depended on her brothers long enough. She decides to take a position as a permanent live-in blood escort for one of the most powerful and intimidating vampires, Beckham Anderson. Beckham is cold and aloof and almost seems like he doesn't want her in his space - he doesn't feed from her, like he is supposed to. But beneath his granite exterior lies a dangerous predator who will stop at nothing to keep Reyna safe - and make her his.

The neat thing about this story is that it's not just a sexy vampire romance novel. The world-building is pretty elaborate and almost realistic in a way. There is so much poverty and hunger and desperation, and people are willing to do whatever it took to make ends meet. In the vampire "world", there are powerful, rich ones who govern the others, and there is tension among the vampires, because some want to treat humans like feed bags, and others want to live peacefully with humans. You can imagine where this is going - there is a lot of unrest between vampires and humans, and among vampires.

The book starts with Reyna going in to become an escort, and finding out that she has been chosen to be the permanent and sole blood escort of Beckham Anderson, the rich and powerful vice president of Visage (a really rich and important company in the vampire world). From there, Reyna goes to live with Beckham, and enters the treacherous world of vampires.

Reyna seems like she might be weak and scared, but she is so tough and at times, prickly and stubborn. She doesn't like nonsense and doesn't take Beckham's orders well. She is inquisitive and persistent, both of which infuriates Beckham (he likes order in his life). I liked Reyna's decisiveness and how she stuck with decisions once she made up her mind.

Beckham seems cold and disinterested, but he is so complex and intriguing. He doesn't feed off Reyna and doesn't even seem like he wants her around - why? Reyna finds out slowly. Beckham seems demanding and kind of a control freak, but he has reasons for everything he does. He's actually a good guy with a dangerous past, and I liked him for that. He always comes back for Reyna and finds Reyna and takes care of her.

This book is written entirely in Reyna's third-person POV so unfortunately we do not get to read anything from Beckham's POV. I'm hoping the author will write the next two books in dual POV narration, or maybe share excerpts in Beckham's POV. I adored Beckham and sometimes I really wanted to know what was going through his head!

Even though Beckham refuses to feed off Reyna, he can't deny their connection, and neither of them can stay away from each other. I love how aware of each other they are. They spent a whole month circling each other and arguing with each other and pressing each other's buttons, and things were heated and intense throughout the time. I love their chemistry. This book is super hot even though most of the book passes without Beckham feeding from her.

No love triangle! I thought there might be at first, but there wasn't. This series is all about Beckham and Reyna and there aren't any sidestreets!

I already talked about how this isn't just a romance, and how there is unrest between vampires and humans, and among vampires. This plot becomes really important as the story goes on, and is heavily connected to the cliffhanger ending. The ending is so torturous! I won't say anything specific about it but it made my jaw drop for several reasons (one I expected all along, but several others I was pretty anxious about!). I need book two! And book three!

What I Did Not Like:

I think the cliffhanger ending was the only thing I really didn't like. I hate cliffhangers and this book is book one of a continuous series, so now I have the long wait until book two publishes (and then book three). This ending has an aspect that I never like in any book's ending, but I'm expecting book two to "fix" things.

Would I Recommend It:

If you're in the mood for steamy adult PNR, look no further. I am really enjoyed the return of great vampire romance novels, don't mind me. I recommend this book if you enjoyed Megan Erickson's Blood Guard (and vice versa). Note that this is NOT part of a companion series (like Erickson's is) - it's a continuous series following Beckham and Reyna for all three books.

Rating:

4 stars. I requested this book on a whim, and read it as soon as I got approved. It's very early to write a review for the book but I really enjoyed it and couldn't contain my excitement! I am more than ready for Blood Match and I already know I am going to be wanting Blood Cure soon after I read book two. I wish I could binge-read the books, but alas, I'll be waiting!
